Yes the one by Kroger used to have bumper boats. I think the bumper boats storage shed may still be standing? I'm not positive if it is or not, I haven't paid that close of attention to it lately.

yeah its still there, well the pool that the boats were in at least. yeah i used to go there all the time when i was really little, but they didn't have bumber boats even then. does anyone know when they stopped using them? and it seems like its just been latly that that mini golf place right by the beach has just gotten over run. a couple years ago it still seemed usable but now the undergroth has just murdered the place.

Teenageninja is right. The golf course on Waterpark Dr. became Nightmare Estates and existed for about five years. It was actually a lot of fun. Definitely a little more "R Rated" than most haunted houses. You'd walk in and there would be a casket with a dummy in it and a man would communicate with the crowd over a loud speaker, simulating that you're talking to the corpse's spirit. The man on the speaker was known as Bonehead and wouldn't hesitate to drop a few "F-Bombs" and harass the women in the crowd, but it was all in good fun.

They had an expanded clown house, where the head clown, Bludzo, would find the ones in the groups who were afraid of clowns and victimize them, commonly by backing them into corners with his co-clowns. This was one of those mazes where if they found out your name, they'd spread it throughout the whole place.

You eventually went outside and would enter an old school bus full of dummies and inherently one of them would be real. You'd walk over bridges (mainly over the old mini gold obsticles) and would end up in the woods outside of the place. Ultimately you were chased out of the maze of your typical chainsaw guys.

The owner of the place, the guy called himself Bonehead, hosted it at that location for several years. Ultimately he could not come to terms with the owner of the location and they ceased the project. They were immediately approached by The Beach and asked to create a haunted house there and basically transferred Nightmare Estates down the street to become Nightmare at the Beach. Due to the rigorous operating schedule at The Beach, they only had 13 days to set up and be ready to open. Although the project was a success, it never saw a return after the initial year.

Today, many of the performers from Nightmare Estates and Nightmare at the Beach both help operate and perform at the schoolhouse in Dent. That's another wonderful attraction that should be checked out if we can pull you away from Halloween Haunt for a night this year. :D

I loved Nightmare Estates. My wife and I went there years ago with friends. I was the last in line, my wife was in front of me holding my hand. We boarded the bus, Freddy Krueger was in the driver's seat. As soon as I pass by, Freddy, who had been motionless until then, stood up and followed me to the back of the bus dragging the blades of his glove along the roof of the bus. This freaked my wife out so badly.

One of the last scenes was a mad scientist lab. A guy with a humpback in a labcoat tapped me on the hand that my wife was holding. I knew immediately what he wanted to do, and being the good husband that I am, I readily agreed. We were able to switch hands, with the scaracter now holding my wife's hand, without her noticing the switch. We had made it through that scene and onto the next when my wife finally turned around to look at me, only it wasn't me! She screamed the loudest scream I have ever heard come from her. She was amazed (as was I) that we had successfully pulled that off. Nightmare Estates stands out in my mind as one of the best times we ever had at a haunt because of this.
