September 29, 200421 yr The past few times I have been to PKI Drop Zone hasen't been rotating on its way up. Anyone know why? Or have any ideas?
September 29, 200421 yr It doesn't spin for mechanical reasons. I could go into details but its really not that important... I could have swore I answered this about a month ago.
September 29, 200421 yr For this particular problem with the ride, it is difficult to do the necessary repairs in order to get it rotating again. Due to this, the ride would experience several days of downtime. I suppose the park decided that, since the ride can be operated safely in its current state, it would be better just to keep it open to the public rather than have it down for several days attempting to fix such a difficult problem with little effect on the ride's experience. I wouldn't doubt it if you saw it fix soon since they have several days to do maintanance now.
October 4, 200421 yr Kings Island must have fixed the spinning problem. I was there on 10/2 & 10/3 and DZ was doing its slow spin up the tower. I also got in seven rides on it.
October 5, 200421 yr Yes, the spinning is now working. I myself was surprised when I ran over to DropZone before my swing shift and the ops were smiling and saying 'Dude, we got our spin back!'. The spinning doesn't add any thrills..but it does allow you to get that great view of every direction with a nice slow spin. Now to figure out how to get transfered back over to Action Zone so I can work Drop Zone again...
October 5, 200421 yr yea but it doesn't spin all the way up it still stops around the magnets or breaks. They need to jury rig it so it spins all the way up.
October 5, 200421 yr It hasn't spun all the way to the top since 2000 and for good reason. Just be happy it spins.
October 5, 200421 yr yea but it doesn't spin all the way up it still stops around the magnets or breaks. They need to jury rig it so it spins all the way up. For some reason...267 feet of free fall...at 67mph...and the words 'jury rig' don't make me very comfortable....maybe it's just me
October 5, 200421 yr lol... good point It's a reliable ride that gives thrills to many. Does it really have to spin?
October 5, 200421 yr It should . I rode some other AG's free fall towers that spin all the way up.Get you dizzy, then drops you when your a little disoriented. Makes it more fun.......but makes you more sick.

October 5, 200421 yr It would just be nice to have it working like it should. I guess there is a good reason but it just allows a better panaromic view of the park that is all.
October 12, 200421 yr I think they should retro-fit it with the same seats as the one at PKD. It loaded and lifted much faster. My friend got in line with a completely full queue (same size as at PKI) and was on the ride in less than 20 minutes. I was shocked because I expected at least an hour.
