The Interpreter
Unlike, say, a cold and rainy day with a high of 45 on the second day a park was open...when a writer had gone for a great adventure! And still it was....
Vortex
Why did they turn it backwards in the first place? It was a waste of time and money to turn it backward way back in the 80's. But Cedar Fair didnt own the park back then. You see the new coaster The Bat was not working out so they turned one side of The Racers backwards. WooferBearATL
Can anyone tell me if The Bat ever had ANY success. Great ride. Horrible Down Time. Actually makes Deja Vu look dependable.
Jasper
Sadly thats one ride i would love to ride before i die and that is Deja Vu it seems like an intersting ride experience. Has anyone rode it before?
The Interpreter
Yes....it was a great deal of fun (all three of them, actually)....Something tells me your best chance of riding it will be at Silverwood in Idaho....and that's where the fantastic Tremors wooden coaster lives! DropZone99
Can anyone tell me if The Bat ever had ANY success. Obviosly i haven't rode it because i wasn't born yet, but my mom has... and she said it was awesome. Sadly thats one ride i would love to ride before i die and that is Deja Vu it seems like an intersting ride experience. Has anyone rode it before? Ive rode Deja' Vu' at SFOG, and it's a great ride... much funner than Invertigo.
Jasper
I think the effect of being straight up and down would be a lot more intense than being at about a 50 degree angle facing down. Plus Deja Vu is higher as well
Captain Nemo
Can anyone tell me if The Bat ever had ANY success. The Bat was way before my time but I have heard a great deal about it from people who had the chance to ride it, and each and every one of them said something positive about it. upstop
The Bat was incredible. I wish it could be reproduced with the proper engineering.
BavarianBeatle
The Bat was incredible for its time. But if it existed today it would be obsolete to the point that it would not be as good as Flight Deck..... IMHO. It was not as high or fast and it was very jerky in the turns and, as we all know, didn't work particularly well... But it deserves its place in history as a groundbreaking coaster that paved the way for others. I still like looking off of the lift hill on Vortex and seeing the footings that are still there. Oh, I disagree. Flight Deck pails in comparison to The Bat. Don't get me wrong, Flight Deck is a nice little ride, but it's nothing like the experience that The Bat was. Beast1979
I can't say much for The Bat, but Flight Deck is to short. The Bat had like, 4,000 feet of track. Plus, Flight Deck is you're everyday Arrow Suspended coaster. The Bat was first of it's kind.
TOPGUN1993
Plus, Flight Deck is you're everyday Arrow Suspended coaster. Why do you say that?
Touchdown
There is only one Arrow Suspended I have been on thats better then Flight Deck, and thats the Big Bad Wolf @ BGE. What Flight Deck lacks in length, it makes up in intensity, I would ride it a lot more if it weren't so darn removed from the rest of the park.. Beast1979
Plus, Flight Deck is you're everyday Arrow Suspended coaster. Why do you say that? Because there are 5 or 6 others just (o.k. maybe not "just") like it.
standbyme
In the past several years, ridership of the Forward Racer has maintained marginally flatined while the Backward Racer has seen a steady decline. I personally think it would be tough for the park to get an accurate statistic of this since the Backward Racer was closed SO very much. (During the weekdays it could have almost been re-named "The Coaster With A Garbage Can In Front Of It's Line"...can't you just picture merchandise with that name.) I know everyone is different, but like many others have stated, the majority of the people I go with prefer the backwards side...I personally don't care, I liked them both. DropZone99
There is only one coaster similar to Flight Deck if im right, and that is Vortex up at Canada's Wonderland.
The Interpreter
Yep. You knew that...and even it isn't identical. Besides, Arrow suspended coasters are rare and in danger of becoming rarer. They are not a dime a half dozen....nor are they even remotely similar experiences. And I should know.... XLR8, anyone?
DropZone99
Speaking of XLR8, it would be kinda cool if Flight Deck's trains went backwards to replace Recar.

coaster_junky
Really i am kind of excited they did this because now i get to see what it was like back when it first opened with both sides going forward. no you won't, unless they removed the seatbelts
The Interpreter
Not to mention the other massive changes to the trains, from the installation of seat dividers, individual lap bars and head rests to, in my opinion, the worst of all and probably only unnecessary change, the hard high density urethane foam that replaced the original cushy padding that came with the PTC trains. UnrealNightmare
I just hope I don't get stapled in anymore. Being skinny and riding is a pain. I get stuck every time I ride and usually have to have a ride op come step down on the bar to get me out. I never liked the backwards Racer to begin with. It always gave me a headache for some reason.

Please just turn the back 4 cars, I enjoy the experience from the front seat and don't want it ruiend.
XGatorHead 8904
Being skinny and riding is a pain. Then you should try being heavy and riding. That is much less fun than riding when I was skinny. But the good news is, I've lost 29 lbs in the off-season, and still working on it. That should make some difference for me.

Are we going to find those pounds on 29#?
