Red Racer's New Logo

Something old is new again at Kings Island, as both sides of The Racer roller coaster will run forward in 2008. The decision to run both sides forward again after 26 years brings the history of the ride full circle, back to its original form. The Red Racer trains will be on the former backward side, with the Blue Racer trains on the other side.

Reports indicate that now both trains on the Red Racer, the former backward Racer, are now on the track. Click here to see a photo of a Red Racer train with its new logo.

From what I understand the logo is raised, it's not a decal.

We'll see come April 20th. But if it is, I amend my comment to state that I would have much rather seen the old logo with the individually raised lettering.

They wanted to have a logo for The Racer that look remotely like the old one, but modernized.

Wow... modernizing nostalgia. I didn't even know that was possible. <_<

I like the new logos are the signs that said backwards and forwards now going to say Red Racer and Blue Racer?

One Side Says "Nost" and the other side says "Algia"

Or "Hope" on one side, and 'Change" on the other? (it's a big election year, so j/k)

Really, I think the "Red Racer" and the "Blue Racer" logos look a bit too small, though the Kings Island logo on the bottom isn't bad.

Nice picture. I now look forward to riding the Red racer and the Blue racer. This is an example how an amusement park can take an existing ride, re-theme it for a minimal cost, and present it as an almost new ride. It generates excitement.

Kings Island isn't Disney, but theming does matter.

Maybe I missed the re-theming.

Can you point it out for me Chef?

^Don't bother asking, I'm sure he won't post in this topic again.

I am also a little disappointed, but I hold out to what I think till next week. Anyone else see that the faces are off on the Odd Coaster trains.

Every off season the wood coaster trains get painted, at the time that picture was taken, the decals hadn't been applied yet.

As for The Racer logo, I think it looks ok, kind of hard to tell from that picture as it looks small. I do like the "Kings Island" on the bottom. I'm actually fairly excited to see how The Racer's run this season, not because of the turn around, but because of the extensive amount of re-tracking both sides have received as indicated in Mr. Helbig's pictures.
