ilovouter_limitsyeah
i heard that theyre bringing that back sometime in 2009. is it true? i LOVE that ride! does anyone remember it?
CoastersRZ
Yes, many here remember Phantom Theater, as it was only removed six years ago (in 2002). It will not be returning in 2009, or any time soon for that matter. It was removed for a reason, primarily a decrease in ridership from when it first opened. When the park installed Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle, kids lines up for that ride every day of the year. That ride still gets long lines and a full queue. Yes, Phantom Theater was a unique dark ride, and far superior an experience to Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle. Animatronic figures in Phantom Theater versus primarily cardboard cutouts for Scooby Doo makes the most recent incarnation in that building seem not as engaging as its predecessor. Phantom Theater
i heard that theyre bringing that back sometime in 2009. is it true? i LOVE that ride! does anyone remember it? As far as I know Phantom Theater will never come back. If youve been to fearfest/Halloween Haunt, the characters are in very bad shape. Yah, I am sure most of the parts are scattered in different storage barns, it would be almost impossible at this point to bring it back
Tuskin
Unless they decided to created a Revenge of the Phantom Theater with remade characters. Tuskin who just had to and now sounds like interp
kjkjkj
So going by the tradition of the building Scooby Doo is in, Scooby will be removed in 2012, and a new attraction would open there in 2013! Maybe they will bring back a darkride with animatronics, special effects, and 10x creepier than Scooby Doo!
Guest rcfreak339
I'm sorry if I'm being a oddball but to me Pahantom Theater was just a normal haunted house ride that had nothing really unique about it and the only special thing about the ride was the characters and thats it. I mean don't get me wrong it's a good ride it just got boreing overtime.
italianchef
I would love to have a new, improved Phantom Theater. However, those of us who desire it are in the minority. After all, there are few geniuses in the world.
Jasper
I must admit even though i am a huge fan of Phantom Theatre, SDATHC gets so much more ridership than the PT did. But i still love Phantom Theatre.
hauntguy
I'd pay HUGE money to see it return! Just look at my signature! -Hauntguy
Cody
Well since they did say "they are bringing the old kingsisland back" we might see something in 2013
WesReviews
I remember Phantom Theater. It wasn't the greatest ride in the world. At best, a low-rent Haunted Mansion rip-off. At worst, much too tame and safe for the serious scare fan. I would definitely welcome an updated version of Phantom Theater or a new "haunted house" type attraction at Kings Island, though. welchce
I say KI should make the new Action FX Theater show Phantom Theater : Maestro's Revenge. It could be a computer simulated 3D movie just like Sponge Bob but it would be scary/more thrilling (Sponge Bob just seems kind of out of place). They could also theme the theater and it's surrounding area to something darker/creepy because as of right now there are still remnants of Days of Thunder with all the checkered flag graphics. Just some thoughts...
catzdrummer09
Yeah. I think it looks kind of unkempt back there will all of the Days of Thunder insignia back there. I like your idea though...no one else has come up with it and it's a great new use for the building and will please alot of people.
welchce
Thank you. I wonder how much it would cost for KI to acquire some CGI artists for a five to ten minute show.
catzdrummer09
It couldn't really be THAT outrageous could it. I mean, Dick Kinzel will go to outrageous lengths to "rebuild", for lack of a better term, this park. He's stated several times that he loves it. I'm sure some CGI artists are well within the budget. welchce
Yeah, it was probably easier for Paramount with the movie studios and all. But I guess it could be done if it could be proven it could spruce up the back of the park and attract more guests.
thatbandguy8807
yea i agree..they could repaint back there and make it something else...and yea, its time for a change from spongebob..he is used enough in NU lol..plus i agree..he just seems out of place there. catzdrummer09
I think it could become a really great permanent attraction. Give it a scary/creepy/gothic theme outside and then put Phantom Theatre: Maestro's Revenge in one side and something scary in the other side...KI doesn't have enough scary rides. welchce
It depends what you term scary. They have plenty scary rides for like people that are afraid of heights (Drop Tower:Scream Zone) and such. But yes, as of right now, they have no "mentally scary"/dark/dreary attraction. They seem to lock all of that up and keep it just for Halloween Haunt. NOTE: I know you could consider The Crypt a dark/dreary ride but that would be just as physically thrilling outside.
The Interpreter
Dark and dreary attraction? Before this year, Fest Haus qualified...and the food was scary!
italianchef
The only way the Phantom Theater will come back is if you or I win the PowerBall and build our own Phantom Theater off Kings Island property. I miss it as much as you do, but realize that it is gone with the wind.
catzdrummer09
^ We're not saying bring back the original. We're saying bring in a sequel done with CGI and put it in one side of the ActionFX Theatre and put something "scary" in the other side. By the way. Nice Interpreter... robbieg123
is both sides of action theater being used for spongebob, or is one side still closed? maybe they could bring back james bond too! :-)
The Interpreter
Only one side is being used for SpongeBob...
catzdrummer09
^ Neither one of them should be honestly. They should just take one of those little outdoor versions with the goggles and put it and the Spongebob show in Nickelodeon Central. But I still stand by the idea of transforming Action FX. art_star
I still say that a Super Mario Action FX movie would be the coolest, with pipes and muchrooms around the line. Ofcourse, that requires licencing so I doubt that would ever happen.
