I've never actually gone to a concert there, but I have heard plenty while working.

Would have liked to have seen the Freedom Concert last year, hopefully they come back again this August.

More than I could possibly list.

I've worked and seen a huge variety:

Jimmy Buffet, Air Supply, REO Speedwagon, Men At Work, James Taylor, Gloria Estefan & The Miami Sound Machine, Tears for Fears, Huey Lewis, Beach Boys, Moody Blues, Hall & Oates, Laura Brannigan, Amy Grant, etc....

Pretty sweet visually, but the mix for SP was terrible.

I have seen or heard many concerts during 1994-2003 seasons (years I worked at the park).

A couple of my favorites were Third Eye Blind and Smashmouth (front row for both of those). Kind of neat hearing Smashmouth sing "All Star" while the fireworks were going off (during the "All that glitters is gold" part) - not so neat when the band invited all the teenage girls up on stage and they rushed the front...

A limited number of concerts are still presented at Timberwolf. Perhaps their number will increase in future years, though the booking business has changed substantially in recent years.

Maybe you've been away for a while Chef. TimberWolf used to have three and sometimes four concerts a week, during the operating season.

They no longer do.

And with the new National City Pavilion opening down at Riverbend and Coney in a couple of weeks, the likelihood that more major concerts will ever return to Timberwolf certainly does not look very good.

I think Timberwolf's days are numbered. With the limited number of events, I believe it is just a matter of time until it is decided that the space could be put to better use.

Showing your age? Willie Nelson, who to my knowledge never played TimberWolf, is 75 today. Sigh.

Willie Nelson is 75....Sigh. Amazing!! The comment about showing my age has to do with my looming 40th birthday and realizing that many of the members of these boards were not even born in 1982.

Back on topic though, I remember that I had a lot of fun that day/night riding The Beast, Bat (yes, it was running that day), Screamin' Demon, Racer, KCKC, Antique Cars, Eagles, etc. All in all, one of my favoriite days at the park from when I was young.....

Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristopher played there in 94. It was on a Sunday and I was working in the kennel and all their fans (dogs) were singing away!!

In the early 80's I attended the Hollies concert and my cousen from way down in Kentuckey thought that they were a country band! He sure was surprised! Not only weren't they country, but they were an English rock-and-roll band!

30 was pretty good but 40 just was awesome. When I was in my 20's, I was a social worker for Hamilton County. One of my coworkers was in her 50's. She told me everything just gets better the older you get. I thought at that time she was exaggerating. But, whe was right. I would not trade one year and am looking forward to many more.

Which is something a lot of people don't realize.

That is one of TimberWolf's Claims to fame.

Yeah it's too bad. Buffet moved to Riverbend shortly

after that. It's not the same because the audience is split

between the pavilion and the lawn. At Timberwolf,

EVERYBODY had fun, and was part of the show.

When Buffett Moved from TimberWolf to Riverbend, it had such an adverse affect on the park that our supervisor bonuses were actually lower that year.

Explain to me how the "Parot Head" thing was coined at Timberwolf. I wasn't aware of that.

BTW - I've seen two shows at the Timberwolf. I saw an educational bird show there many years ago when my class took at trip to KI to do the monorail and all that jazz. I also went to Weird Al last year, just so I could say that I saw a concert there but ended up having a really good time, I must admit.

Weird Al, in 2004 I think it was at least. Pretty amazing concert, he is a great entertainer

The whole dressing up for shows started in Cincinnati. Jimmy looked out into the audience and coined the term.
