Don't forget driving down the highway to get to the park and suddenly seeing something rising up...way up....

I thought Terpy was hiding in New Jersey somewhere..... You'd rather be visiting an Island of Kings then having Great Adventures?

You apparently need to read the forii more closely. Let's just say this, Diamondback is huge, even when seen from inside the park at night after it has topped out....the park's PR rep was working the basketball game by Racer last night...another local seasonal park has its last night this season tonight and will have an interpreter on hand for the festivities...and what's the great adventure of life without a point? Magnum XL-200 awaits what I hope is one of its favorite last riders of long standing....

All he would be having a Nitro of a time at Great Adventure.

Perhaps you'd better read 1894 above again....and keep your eyes on the B & M prize being built down Mason way....cuz unless you are headed to America's Roller Coast or the Tri-State's Favorite Playground...the one with the happy clown...you ain't gonna be seeing any Terpys this weekend, unless'n of course, you already have...

I went to HH yesterday and there were several times I noticed how big Diamondback was:

1. When walking by the Rakes-Helbig Memorial Hospital

2. Going up the lift hill of The Racer

3. Waiting outside for the park to open.

One more to that list.

Going up the 2nd lift on The Beast. From that angle, she towers over all.

I just tried looking at the webcam, and I couldn't see jack for all the fog. I couldn't even see the track for the splashdown it was that thick. Here's the proof. I just realized you can't really tell that's the splashdown, but trust me it is.

I'm glad I left when I did today.

I'm not saying I'll see you THIS weekend, but for future visits I know who to look for at most any park......

Wow, when I looked at that photo I had to go to the top to figure out what topic I was in! I wasn't sure if I was looking at one of BEAST1979's RCT3 photos or Diamondback! It just looked too perfect!

To those in the know:

Is the fact that there is rust on the bolts and such a concern for the construction? I realize the footer has been exposed to the elements so does the rust matter? Is there a way to "strip" the rust away? I guess when I think rust, I think it's bad in all cases. IMG_4595.JPG

Its not really that bad. In fact, when Backlot Stunt Coaster was installed in 2005, most of its bolts looked similar to those bolts. Sometimes parks will paint the bolts. A good example of that is on the below image of Invertigo.

Ahh. Chances are, not many will see the bolts in question on DB in the first place, I was just wondering as far as quality, structural integrity, etc...

Mmm.....A most interesting Blog Update.

Workers begin clearing queue line and station area

November 3, 2008

Workmen began clearing the area where the queue line and station for Diamondback will be early this morning. The stage located to the left of the Rivertown Mining Company -- the location for the announcement for the August 6 announcement of Diamondback -- was torn down this afternoon.

The Rivertown Mining Company building, where Red Beard's Ravenge was located during Halloween Haunt, has been cleared out and is expected to be torn down on Tuesday.

Work also continues in the area outside the entrance to The Beast. The new entrance to The Beast will be in virtually the same spot guests entered the ride when it first opened in 1979.

- Don Helbig

So soon we shall see (Say THAT five times Fast) what the Station and Que will be?

Posted

Hmm I figured the Rivertown Mining Company building would be incorporated in to the que or entrance of DB like Maverick, not torn down. Very interesting.

I wonder if that means the photo spot with The Beast logo could be returning?

I wish there was an aeiral cam of the construction with all the construction in view. But that is impossible!

That area that was cleared today is not on the webcams is it?
