I've never been this type of hyper coaster b4 so I don't know what to except. I'll probably be okay though. Since Diamondback is just slightly bigger then Sob. gigacoaster2k Posted August 27, 2008 Share Posted August 27, 2008 I'm a HUGE Millennium Force fan (which is 70 feet taller and 13 mph faster than DB), and I ride Dragster with my hands up (110 feet taller and 27 mph faster than MF). I think what I meant was that I've been on coasters higher than that, so I'm not intimidated at all. I've never been on a B&M hyper. That thing pretty much rendered me fearless to the point where I wasn't even scared to get on TTD. Now I will ride anything at any park. It is horrible, i even sat in the magical Vekoma seat! On topic: I am not scared of any coasters. I just looked at it and I was like . That has to be the most poorly executed framework I've ever seen. As for me, I've hated both stand-up coasters I've been on. By Zamperla flying coaster, you mean like Time Warp at CW?? And don't worry, Terpy, Roller Coaster won't be lasting much longer!! And btw, the biggest thing that makes a B&M hyper a little different from MF on the lift is you have all that steel support frame structure below the track on MF, but on D-back??...at 200 feet it'll be pure air and nothing else under the track between those support poles!! The experience is definitely a little bit different as I found out riding Nitro for the first time before coming an enthusiast, but after the first time it's just like anything else! I was nervous my first time on MF, but for my first ride on Maverick a week and a half ago, I was not nervous at all. I was excited more than anything, and I'm sure it'll be the same for Diamondback. I've rode everything at Kings Island a million times, especially this season where I set a record for how many times I've been to the park: 7 times, 4 trips! And I'm probably going to come back for Halloween Haunt too. Getting the most out of my pass definitley, but not sure I'm going to be renewing it. The wifey and I have bigger plans for next year: At least 1 trip to KI, a Trip to Cedar Point, and maybe a trip to Tampa to check out Sea World and Busch Gardens Africa! I'm not nervous at all. At the point I ride it, it'll be the tallest and fastest coaster I've ever rode, but that really doesn't make me nervous. I fear no ride! Cormaster: If you are going to Cedar Point and Kings Island, you might want to think of purchasing Platinum Passes...you will soon enough spend as much at the gate as you would have for the Platinum Passes, if you go much at all... KI, CP, SW, and BGA! yeah we're thinking about taking our tax return and going on Vacation for a week to Tampa in Febuary, since we figure at that point we'll be sick of the Cold and ready to get out of town for a week! We did look into a Platinum Pass actually but at $130 or so it seems a bit steep for probably one trip out to Cedar Point. If I lived in an Area where I could easily access both parks, or maybe even another CF owned park it might be worth it, but around here you can pick up discount tickets for everything it seems. Last year for our honey moon we got 2 day passes to Kings Island for $50 from a local Speedway gas station! I know its stupid but my tampa idea came mostly out of wanting to ride Sheikra... I've been dieing to experience a floorless diving machine! Everyone know my dissapointment when I found out we were getting a hypercoaster instead of a diving machine and while I am looking forward to Diamondback, I'd i'm killing to check out a dive coaster! This will also be the case on DB, which will make it awesome. I have felt like I'm going to fall out while going up the hill on MF, and I'm sure DB will create the same sensation...I'm curious to see how long it will take to reach the top. I expect it to be fast and smooth with lots of negative Gs...I really couldn't ask for more. My biggest selling point to people who won't ride a given ride is, "Look at all those people getting off the ride...don't they look happy?!" Most often, this is the case. The really funny thing was that i would ride anything that didn't do a loop. I didn't blink an eye when I got on TTD. Then I realized that I just went on the tallest fastest roller coaster (at the time), I think I can handle a loop. Right after that I went on Corkscrew and that loop was fun, until i got to the headbanging Corkscrews. Now I ride everything except Son of Beast because it beats the crap out of you. We came in thru Challenge Park and I just remember walking by the lift hill and feeling so small, really made me uneassy. Glad I manned up and gave it a ride. What a ride it still is. As many people who have ridden B&M hypers will tell you, if the "clam shell" restraint is loose enough, you'll certainly feel like you're going to fly out of your seat when you hit that sweet airtime!! And not to bring up Behemoth again (but it's seriously one of the best coasters ever!), but that seriously flies up the lift hill, and I'm guessing D-back will be the same. Not the most scientific of ways, but I timed YouTube videos of Vortex climbing the lift against Behemoth climbing the lift, and Vortex got killed despite being a lot shorter!! It makes me mad at CP to see people that for most part are in decent shape, and maybe with a football build get rejected b/c of a stupid belt length or slack! I wonder if Bohemeth has had any issues? I did get a little nervous when I rode TTD for the first time this summer, but I think it was less nervousness and more 'my heart is beating out of my chest and the adrenaline is pumping full force'! I don't think I get scared on coasters but the anticipation when you are waiting in line for one you've never been on before can be crazy. Although, I did ride Xtreme Skyflyer for the very first time this summer and I can admit I was pretty nervous to go on that one....especially when you are being lifted up to the top...that is crazy! I still get nervous on Slingshot too. And no matter how many times I've been on DT that thing always makes me feel like I'm going to hyperventilate right out of my seat My brother and I read somebody's post on here about putting your hands up on DT on the way down and we had never tried it before. I always cross my legs and clench on to the handles really tight and take 20 deep breathes as soon as I hear that "sound" waiting for it to drop. But the last time we went we talked each other into just going limp and putting our hands up....I ended up grabbing his hand when we heard the "sound" but wow....that was the best feeling ever. So scary but so much fun to just let yourself go free when you are dropping. I am definitely riding that way every single time from now on! If anybody hasn't tried it yet...you have to...it's such a rush!
