Beast1979
Fresh off the newsprint! Park News - (1/28/09) According to Kings Island’s PR Guru Don Helbig, the park will host “Ride Warriors Coaster Weekend” on May 9-10 this year, an enthusiast event open to all accredited roller coaster clubs. The event will include ERT on Diamondback, The Beast (which will turn 30 in 2009), Firehawk, Flight of Fear, Racer and other coasters yet to be announced. The full details about this event will be posted to the park’s website in the near future. Take it for a grain of salt, it's screamscape. XGatorHead 8904
Normally I would agree with the grain of salt comment, but the event was mentioned on the KI SP email that went out on 1/27, so that would make it pretty official to me... raptor
Yeah, I just read that on Screamscape, I wonder what the details of this is, I wonder how early the park will be open for this. What will be the difference between this and a normal ert day? Would be nice to see something like Coatermania at Cedar Point.
The Beast Rider
Actually, this has been posted as an event on the ACE website. 5-9 to 5-10, its called Ride Warriors Weekend. They don't have any details other than the date. Sounds like a good time. ACE Events Website
The Interpreter
It should be noted that park events, not just ACE events, are posted to the ACE events website. The event was added to that site on the 27th. It is my understanding this event will be open to members of all credentialed coaster clubs, not just ACE. Beast1979
I wonder if this will become an Annual Event such as Fall Thrillfest at KD or Coastermania at CP
BoddaH1994
All accredited coaster clubs will be invited to join. This will be the event of the season if you're an enthusiast.
tigellinus
^^Well, multiple laps on Firehawk without getting off, will be 'an event of the season' indeed!!

CoastersRZ
One thing is for sure, it will be one of the earliest enthusiast events of the season! Coastermania at Cedar Point is an entire month later.
dare-to-fly
^^Well, multiple laps on Firehawk without getting off, will be 'an event of the season' indeed!! I'd say the same on any wooden coaster. On the other hand, that's freqent during the season anyway provided you go on the right days. Those fabulous wonderful days! (Frequent except of course, on SoB. I wish they'd get rid of that rule.) How about a camp-out on Diamondback! I'd love to ride it several times in a row without moving. (Yes I know this is unlikely.) The Beast Rider
^ As unlikely as it may be, it would still be sweet!! And they definately need to get rid of that rule on SOB. That, and the midcourse brakes. *Ducks and runs*

I can not imagine this NOT having ert on Diamondback, and I bet it will be a long ert. ^ As unlikely as it may be, it would still be sweet!! And they definately need to get rid of that rule on SOB. That, and the midcourse brakes. *Ducks and runs* Actually, I would love to see the MCBS removed (Or at least let up a bit). Because after the ride slams on the brakes it is a very, very slow and boring ride.

Coastermania at Cedar Point is an entire month later. Try before CP friggin' even opens!! Not a coincidence, btw... Actually, the only things really taken into consideration were other enthusiast events. The park didn't want people to have to choose between two events that are geographically close. Other than that, there were little tidbits with internal scheduling. The dates associated with the event at Kings Island had nothing to do with Cedar Point's opening weekend. tigellinus
My guess is a surprise from the KIC: The Third event today is that a ticket to that event bought you a KIC membership. But I wouldn't be surprised if being a KIC member is NOT free for purposes of Ride Warrior weekend...I guess we'll have to stay tuned. Tomkatt7
I RSVP'd for this event on facebook, I think. If I want to buy 4 tickets so my whole family can go, do we all need to join? or can they just be my guests?

Please also note that the Facebook thing I sent out was purely for information, there will be an actual registration process through Kings Island. I always seem to get shut out of these events, but it seems like you guys always have a great time!!!
