fyrfyter
When they do the music videos, it would be good if they tried to keep up with the changing music through the summer, not the same old stuff. I think this would be one really good improvement to implement.
Shaggy
The Paramount Theatre will house a new magic show this season, there will be a country show, karoke (sp??) is back as well as a new Nick show. Not sure about the showplace, but I am sure something will appear. Shaggy
Return_of_Yogi
Thanks Shaggy, but what would you like to see?
Shaggy
What would I like to see? Well, I am pretty pessimistic about the shows at PKI. Amusement Park Entertainment is extremely lackluster and does not entertain me. Although I see it's value, I really have no distinct opinions on what shows they add. The shows are always pretty bad, so it's hard to differentiate what type of bad show I would like to see. ;-) Shaggy
Coasterfan
I would like to see them change the mvs throughout the year.

bingog34
I heard there will be a tap dancing show, a new pop fusion, a magic show (the one that Carmen Electra was in back in the day), the Nickelodeon show, and the Back porch show. This is from an auditionee who was called to be in the magic show, so it's credible.
coasterqueen
I never really gave much thought to the midway entertainment, although it would be nice to see something like they had at Knott's Berry Farm last year with the STOMP!-ish type of shows. I love that. As far as the indoor shows I really don't care, since I spend all my time riding. I do admit that Paramount did an awesome job with the 7th Portal though. I generally do not care for the IWERKS type of rides and most of them have SUCKED but I really loved that one. -Tina
blondie
Personally, I would be thrilled if Graveyard Shift and its original cast could return :-) I agree with Return_of_Yogi... I like shows with some kind of story line. I can remember the show Entertainment Tonight. It had a lot of talented dancers, but there were no singers OR plot. Just a few different dancing segments and watching Mary Hart on the TV screens while the dancers changed clothing for the next dance number. Graveyard Shift, on the other hand, had a nice balance of dancers, great singers, some acting and a story line. I would be happy with more shows similar to Graveyard Shift. As for the magic show... I don't know. Guess we'll have to wait and see. A few years back there was a magic show in the Paramount Theatre... I didn't care for it. But, it does has one plus... in the hot summer months or when it's pouring down, it's nice to duck into the Paramount Theatre, get cool and catch a show. Whereas, a show at the International Showplace will either get canceled from a storm or you melt in the sun while you watch a show. I was surpised to hear there may be a show at the Backporch. The stage and area seems so small and cramped.... do shows there pull in a lot of guests? I also noticed an earlier post where KI added an additional auditioning date of March 1. Has KI ever held an audition this last? Is the park having trouble filling Entertainment positions for this year? Was just curious. I always thought show rehearsals started towards the end of February.
Return_of_Yogi
Always, we do an audition in Novembe and a follow up in march.
NoLimits8705
I think Paramount Theater should do GREASE, can't go wrong with that. Not the whole thing either just some of the songs or like one act out of it. The paramount compnay has os many movies and musicals they could do and would get great revues by the patrons. For the big open theater on International street but the tower they should do another show like pop fusion, but this time have today's REAL hits, because when they did the last pop fusion the songs were like from the summer before or were off the albums that the artists hadn't released yet. Get some o-town up in there pleez!! And for Qtv please watch mtv and bet and see what we are actually listening to these day and play those videos, cause i got tired of seeing the bangles and jon bon jovi and old otehr 80's band. Maybe Qtv coud do like a live show where the host walks through the park interviewing people and stuff. Oh i just got an idea for the open tehater by the tower...do a spoof of American Idol...that would eb hilarious...or even do it in Paramount theater. For the stage in front of the tower...keep the Karoake....it cheers me up to hear the people who can't sing...cept when they mess up O-town, like that guy did, but hey they had fun and that is all that is important right?!?!? Also yes yes yes make patrick a charcater he is my favorite!!! That you for listening to me and have a wonderful blessed day! >>YES I AGREE WITH BLONDIE TOO....THE SHOWS ARE MORE ENTERTAING WHEN THEY HAVE A STORYLINE AND WHEN THEY INTERACT WITH THE AUDIENCE...THEY SHOULD LIKE SERENADE A PARK GUEST....oooh pki should have there own version of mardi gras or summin' or like have summin' be VIP park gues of the day!! That would be awesomes!
teenageninja
The problem is do they want to pay the money for good entertainers? I could see them doing the Grease thing, but it would take a good entertainer for it to work good. American Idol spoof would work, but what would entice people to sing on stage? The best thing you would get would be a shirt or a free meal or something.

I always thought show rehearsals started towards the end of February. I concur with Blondie 100%!!!! Bring back GRAVEYARD SHIFT with the original cast. Yes, it'd be cool to have Broadway styled reviews like Phantom of the Opera - but I think that it'd be too expensive for PKI. Though I think that Graveyard Shift came pretty close. Return_of_Yogi
It would be easy to bring back the graveyard shift show, but not a very good ide, many of the people come and expect something new, and Ki tries to do o, so i doubt youll see the same show twice. SML828
Not true Yogi....While it's true Graveyard Shift won't be back...PKI does have a tendency to repeat shows (or variations)...In 2001 & 2002 they had the exact same Scooby show (they changed some of the choreography, but everything else was the same)....The Nick show was the same for a few years...I mean exactly the same....And there was a show at International Showplace (Retro: Repeat The Beat), then the year after (maybe 2 years) there was a show at Paramount Theatre (Retroactive) - while there were noticable changes, most of the songs/dances were the same...trust me I saw Repeat The Beat on a daily basis...I knew that forwards/backwards/inside/out... This year I think will be all new!
Return_of_Yogi
I forgot all about the scooby show Sml828! Yeah theres always a country show it seems, and a nick show, the nick show cast seems to never age.......
bingog34
I really liked that game show they used to have in the Festhaus. That was great. I think something that would go over great with PKI's audience is a musical revue. Not just Grease, because that really limits the style. In one of Cedar Point's brochures they had a scene from a show they have about Grease. Since Grease isn't just owned by Paramount, they could buy the rights (Chicago rights aren't owned by Miramax, etc.). They could have a show with songs from musicals (Phantom, Joseph, Cats (um, something else NOT Andrew Lloyd Webber...), reusing the cast to sing solos, OR, write a story that somehow ties in songs from all musicals, and create a hodgepodge of musicals. That would be interesting.
Stitch
People like to go to ride rides not to sit through long shows. Shows are only good in the rain IMO.
SML828
People like to go to ride rides not to sit through long shows. Shows are only good in the rain IMO. That's actually not true at all...The shows are VERY popular, especially for families...and considering Kings Island is a family theme park they fit in VERY well. I've spent enough years working at the shows to know this...The problem is that the shows have been kinda lacking the past couple years...but even during the bad years....they are still popular. Stitch
Well I guess I'm just not very pleased by them because they aren't Sea World or Universal Good.
Return_of_Yogi
Define Universal good, i was down there and did a six week "expierence' with them, not that great....
Stitch
Ok not to be hostile just good debating... at the universal shows they have if not all then most of these in their shows. - Explosions, big time stunts, really cool props ie the plane in the waterworld show, and more crowd involvment. italianchef
I have to say that in my opinion, shows are VERY important to PKI and any other amusement park. Otherwise, why would they invest money in them? Yes, roller coasters and well-themed flat rides are the bread and butter of PKI and other parks but consider the following: 1. What do folks do after lunch? Get on a roller coaster and vomit? Nope, they see a show. 2. What about families that have a member who doesn't get on rides? What does that person or people do? Cry? Nope, they see a show. 3. What do people do when they are too tired or the lines are too long? Do they cry? Nope, they see a show. 4. What about parents/grandparents who are only at the park for little ones. What do they do for fun? Ride Yogi's Skytours 50 times? Nope, they see a show. And there are folks like me, who love the shows almost as much as they do the rides. If it were up to me, GRAVEYARD SHIFT would be broght back. Return_of_Yogi
WE have many different shows, because we have many different people come to PKI, And since we are not a year long park we cant afford the same stuff that Universal or Disney or any of them have, but we try our best with everything we do have. There's been a few flops and a few good ones, maybe this year since "Chalotte' is no longer in charge we might get to do what we want.
CYoung2003
ok heres the bottom line. pki does a good job in putting on shows and they work hard at doing it considering that they are free! different people like different kind of things. some people may not like pop fusion, but some people might. and keep in mind that there are a lot of little kids that come to the park so they try to keep there shows as kid friendly as possible. as long as the audience enjoys the show and leave with a smile on there face, then mission acomplished. i think its a nice thing for Kings Island to do considering that they COULD charge admission, but they dont.
Stitch
Well they probably don't charge admission because preatty much noone would pay to see a show...IE Admission(Parents + Kids)+Food+show admission. I highly doubt anybody would willingly pay for a pki show.
