zachman
what is your prediction on the wait time of the Diamondback if you are going on a Tuesday in the middle of June
Jasper
I am going to take a stab in the dark here and say anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half possibly.
corn4ahead
you know, this is one of thos impossible questions to answer because you never know what the weather is going to be like and there are also other factors that may affect the wait times. but if i had to guess i would say anywhere from 1 to 2 hrs. The Interpreter
Zachman, do you have a season pass? Belong to a coaster club?
Beast08
I would say 47 mins.
BoddaH1994
I think you're getting pretty accurate predictions. Although it is impossible to tell how long the line will be, it's safe to assume that it will be a VERY popular attraction. It is a high capacity people-moving machine that can thrill roughly 1620 people per hour, so the line will certainly keep moving and a semi-constant rate. As The Interpreter hinted at, if you have a Kings Island Gold or Cedar Fair Platinum Pass you actually get the privileged of early access to Diamondback almost every operating day in 2009. The ride will open to season pass holders at 9:30 on weekdays and 9:00 on weekends. If you plan of having a season pass, this would be a great opportunity to ride this exciting new attraction with a minimal wait time. zachman
Interpreter, no I do not have a season pass
The Interpreter
You may well want to consider one, given it gets you early access to Diamondback, as BoddaH1994 noted! And it normally pays for itself in two visits.
gigacoaster2k
Zach, here's a quick rundown for you on the season pass information other than the early ride times Ryan gave you. Maybe this will help you decide which pass is best for you. Gold gets you free parking, and benefits at Kings Island. Gold passes are good only at Kings Island. This kind of pass is good for people who go to Kings Island a lot. The regular season pass doesn't include park benefits or free parking, IMO Gold is a much better deal. Platinum gets you free parking at any Cedar Fair park, and benefits at any Cedar Fair park. Last year I made 13 trips to Kings Island and 7 trips to Cedar Point, so that pass makes more sense for me. If you're only going to go to Kings Island this year, it makes no sense to go Platinum.
The Interpreter
And at some time, gold is no longer offered, at least if they do this year what they have done in years past.
tigellinus
The ride will open to season pass holders at 9:30 on weekdays and 9:00 on weekends. Sounds like the first time these ERT times have been stated!?! That said...not bad, not bad...1 hour long weekday ERT all season long was just unrealistic, so thanks KI for the opportunity!! Any news, Ryan, on when the other ERT coasters will be announced?? I have a feeling The Beast will the other/another coaster for the first few weekends of the season. gigacoaster2k
And at some time, gold is no longer offered, at least if they do this year what they have done in years past. I forgot about that.. thanks! 1 hour long weekday ERT all season long was just unrealistic, so thanks KI for the opportunity!! Cedar Point has 1 hour ERT every day of the operating season, including Halloweekends, and a list on their website of which rides will open. My friend Melissa and I went to Kings Island last year, hoping to enter the park half an hour early with our passes, but they informed us that it was only the water park and "certain attractions on certain days." We didn't want to go to the water park so we stood around for half an hour with nothing to do. I never found any clear information last year about early entry, so I gave up and went when it opened to the general public. I'm stoked to finally see real ERT at Kings Island, and glad to see that they are getting with the program.
RailRider
^ I think we will see more information this year and as a company I would imagine Cedar Fair is trying to get all properties on the same schedule when offering morning ERT. It just makes sense, because then whatever CF park you are visiting you would know that you can have ERT with your pass 30 minutes or an 1hour before the park opens. Becomes more of a benefit that isn't different at every park.
gad198
^ I agree and I disagree. I think that uniformity across parks would be great when you're talking about some Platinum Pass perks (free parking, discounts on food and merchandise, etc.), but I'm not sure that ERT uniformity is one of them. Part of the reason the Cedar Point early entry hour is so valuable because, if you get there right at 9 you can knock out three big rides where queues fill up early (Raptor, MF, and Maverick) before 10 which is a big help! Cedar Point also has a lot more on-property accommodations, which means there will be a much greater universe of people that can utilize that benefit. It also helps when trying to attract people to stay on property to stick that carrot out there. I'm not really sure that Kings Island (or any other Cedar Fair park other than CP) needs to offer that same early entry benefit to the degree that CP does because there (1) probably won't be as many people using the ERT on a daily basis (and certainly not during the week) and (2) there's not the same return on investment on it like there is at CP because of the hotel business. Don't get me wrong, it's a great perk and I'd love to see it extend out to an hour through all parks, but I'm just not sure that it would make complete business sense, aside from the goodwill it'd generate for PPers. tigellinus
To concur with the other poster...CP's ERT is more about the resort status.
Jasper
Hmmm you learn something new everyday I did not know that you get early access to the rides with a gold pass. Glad me and my buddy got one, now i can actually enjoy the benefits of the park with someone else and not alone.
gigacoaster2k
I thought I was the only one who thought it kind of stinks going with someone who doesn't have a pass, because then neither one of you get the benefits.
Ki Man
Remember that most big time KI rides will have wait times posted outside the line. According to Don.
Ki Man
To concur with the other poster...CP's ERT is more about the resort status. CP's ERT is more like, get in the line while it's 30-45 minutes before it becomes 2 hours. It's only ERT if you can run a mile in 5 minutes. The Interpreter
That all depends on when you go. Terpy, who has had many non-crowded days at Cedar Point...then again, he knows better than to try to visit on Saturdays during high season and sich

Most of my visits where the "ERT" at the hotels happened was a 30-45 minute wait 10 minutes after they opened the gates for the resort people were summer weekdays. I only went to CP ONCE on a Saturday. I left at 11AM because every line had a 2 hour wait. That's just no fun.

Last year I went with some friends on July 5th, which was a saturday. We didn't leave home til 11 and arrived at 2:30. We were really surprised when we got there. The longest line we had all day was a hour for M.F. TTD was a 30 min wait and Mantis was 45 min. We didn't ride maverick but everything else was a walk on

flightoffear1996
I have been to Cedar Point in May on a weekday and it was hardly anything but walk ons. THe park was packed with teens visiting some how or another. I guess when CP closed the school close? I read how great of a time May is but it was so windy and rainy most of the rides were closed and the rides had lots of down time since it was still in the begining of the season. Crews seemed to be poor stacking on ever single ride and most rides a full line. THe line for Raptor was 1:40 minutes long. The entire line was filled up. I did get some rides in on the ERT since teh school kids weren't there yet. Honsetly I have a better time in early June late August at the pont. tigellinus
^^When it comes to May at CP, YMMV...particularly at the beginning of the season when operations and rides have rust to knock off seemingly.
