Beastfreak Posted March 5, 2003 Posted March 5, 2003 The 3D action theatre stuff is usually never open on opening day thus why advertise it with Delirium and Scooby. Advertising them all at the same time will make people think that it will be open come opening day and then get upset when it isn't. Beastfreak Posted March 5, 2003 Posted March 5, 2003 Yeah, you can see Delirium from the highway. I've passed by a few times at night and you can see right were it is. They have some of the lights on but its not very bright, from the highway at least. I'm sure once they are all done and turn all the lights on and have it swinging you will be able to see it from anywhere nearby. Quote

Beastfreak Posted March 7, 2003 Posted March 7, 2003 Ok, here is my math: Say you have 50 people on the ring, and each seat is approximately 2 ft wide (give or take some, just a guess). So 50x2ft=100ft. Thats 100ft all the way around the ring. Now, it makes 8 revolutions per minutes. So 8/min*100ft=800ft/min is the total distance traveled if the ring were vertical and allowed to roll. now take that and transfer it into mph. 800ft/min*1mile/5280ft*60min/hr=9.09mph, not very fast in my opinion. Losing Streak Posted March 8, 2003 Posted March 8, 2003 sure, but the diameter of the circle is what could make it seem so bad. your radius would be 100/2pi, or approximately 15.9 feet. a tight radius will make you dizzy and hurl no matter if you're going 9 mph or 20. I don't think speed is as much the factor here as is the radius. If that makes sense. Think about how fast you can be moving if you're spinning in circles, just twirling, you know? not that fast, right? but since the radius is so tight, it makes you feel sick to your stomach. thats my point. Give it a month, and I am sure we will all find out, just what the puke factor is. It can't be too high, because if it makes everyone that gets on it sick, then no one will ever want to ride it. I am sure the engineers thought of this when designing it. if it does a rotation though every 7.5 secs, I am thinking that is more like 2 or 3 full swings, not just one. Remember its a pendulum, and will fall with the speed of gravity, unless the motor at the top affects it in the downswing. Quote

And as far as me having too much time on my hands... all those formulas are memorized, and I spent less then two minutes each on both of those posts. Probably less then that.
