Crazy31088
Hey, Skylab (RIP 1986-1997) was one of my all time favorite rides-it was the one that got me over being afraid of upside down rides. Does anyone know really why it was taken down? (I've read that it was closed due to "maintenance trouble"...does anyone know more?) Any info would be appreciated, W. teenageninja
It was a maintainence nightmare. It also made a really loud bang when returning to horizontal and that scared some people. It's probably better off it was taken out.
Dane
BOOM! It made when the hydralic ram got all the way closed. It freaked people out. And it was kinda hard on the people on the inside too. I do have to say, it looked good looking down the walkway.
Crazy31088
Yes, I remember the noise well....I thought my sister was nuts for riding it at first....but then, she talked me into it. Still, I do think it looked much better than the rock climbing thing and the virtual reality spot they have now on that area....More useful, too. It's sad how many of the smaller, non-coaster rides like Skylab have disappeared over the years (I was incredibly ****ed that they got rid of the Kenton Cove Keelboat Canal [is that the right name?] a couple of years ago)
StXBomber
I was incredibly ****ed that they got rid of the Kenton Cove Keelboat Canal [is that the right name?] a couple of years ago Yes, but we got TRTR in place of that! I think the trade was a good one.
Stitch
KC KBC was alot more fun than TR TR IMO because of it's crazy drop but it did smell bad sometimes.
fyrfyter
I miss KCKC, but we had way to many water/log flume type rides. I am gald that we only have one WT, and the other large one, CF.
Crazy31088
I Thought KCKC was the best, even though the other two are also great (I never could figure out why the line for Kings Mill Flume, aka Wild Thornberries was always so long! I once waited two hours to get on it!)
CYoung2003
I personally thought that KCKC was a horrible ride and i always said that they should take it out. Thank god they did! Im a Congo guy myself (hence the avatar) but not just cuz i work it, cuz i think its the best water ride in the park
FOF
KCKC was an ok ride, you didnt really get wet on it. Thats why the line was always longer on Kings Mill flume, you got wetter on it.
teenageninja
KCKC did not get you very wet at all but I did like going back and forth through the trees.
AZ Kinda Guy
This has been discussed before and if you search around you can find it. The exact reason is unknown but it was more less a maintance issue.
