Diamondback Restraints

Do you think Diamondback's restraints will be accommodating for overweight people? It seems like without a seat belt, they should be pretty good. But I've heard that they will require three "clicks" to lock, similar to The Racer and such. I started a thread about this before, but it must have been deleted. Hoping that this one doesn't receive the same fate...

I also heard they are going to require 3 clicks unlike most roller coasters at the park are only 2 if I'm not mistaken. I heard there will be a new kind of test seat out front that will tell you if the restraint is down far enough so that will save some people from the walk of shame.

Just based on the renderings from the website, I'm guessing the restraints will be similar to MForce and TTD at CP. Based on your avatar my estimate would be that you'll be OK.

All I can tell you is that when I rode behemoth it was a tight fit. I'm a big guy and I just made it with the help of a ride associate. I did see much smaller people than me getting turned away. That was in October when I visited the park and I have been working hard to lose the weight so I can ride Diamondback. Hopefully I have lost enough so I can ride. When I rode Appolo's Charriot it seemed like there was much more room on it. I do hope there is a test seat out front, there is nothing worse than waiting 2+ hours then finding out you can't ride and having to do the walk of shame.

The restraints are actually nothing like those of MF and TTD. They are called clam shells and allow a lot more freedom.

Well maybe the clicks start out further than other restaints so 3 clicks will only be like 2 clicks on others?? Trying to think positive for you!

I heard B&M are rather good on bigger riders.I'm a big guy as well.

I dont know how many clicks you need but the key will be looking down at the joint in the floor. You are going to need to see a (usually red) line coming out of the joint to know if you are good to go. If you cant, you cant ride. From personal experience I would say that these restraints are slightly more accommodating then MF or TTD but not by much. I was heavier the last time I rode a ride with those restraints but from experience here is what you need to do:

-Sit back in the seat as far as possible, its not essential to actually even touch the bottom of the seat before pulling down, infact it hurt my ability to make that last click.

-When you are pulling the restraint down, dont push down so much as pull back

-If you have someone with you and you are really close (ie you can see the red line just not get the click that keeps it visable) they should be able to help you pull that one last click.

Haha thanks guys.. I'm actually not concerned at all. I'm really skinny. But I'm just wondering because I may be bringing a friend with me who isn't really "fat," but he's a pretty big guy. But I hope they don't have too many problems....

I know what you mean sky.........but I was actually able to ride Millennium Force last year for the first time in 3 years. Afer they noticed that the seat belts were actually shrinking with age and replaced them.

I rode MF but few that little seatbelt hugged on me tight no way I was taking the walk of shame. TTD I really had no problem with.

I know what you mean sky.........but I was actually able to ride Millennium Force last year for the first time in 3 years. Afer they noticed that the seat belts were actually shrinking with age and replaced them.

Actually, the older belts had been reduced in size several times after incidents on other INTAMIN rides, including Perilous Plunge and Supermen: Rides of Steel in Darien Center, New York and Agawam, Massachusetts.

Yes they was reduced, but they still found that over time they were shrinking in size.

Will someone please post about how the seats are. The walk of shame can be horrible. I'm sorta big, but don't want to waste my friends time if I can't ride. Because they won't ride of I can't. Any and all feed back is appreciated.

Won't help here. The problem area, if there is one, on Diamondback will be your thighs. Holding your belly in will do exactly nothing.

I think i am on the bigger side of things but I am slowly trying to change that. I am 6 foot 2 and 230 pounds. That dang winter weight! Last year I was about the same though and I fit on all the rides at Kings Island and Cedar Point with no problem. I have about 3 inchs or so on the safety belt on MF.

You will probably fit. Can't guarantee it, of course, but it seems more probable than not.

Just try to sit back in the seat as far as possible I guess. And maybe skip a tempting funnel cake or something on the way in. I know that will be my challenge.

Pretty much all new 'big' attractions get test seats now a days, because the parks don't like making anyone take the walk of shame anymore than anyone likes taking it. Their entire goal is to make every customer have a great experience, and a walk of shame is not included in that.

I'm a pretty big girl (5'6" and 210 lbs) and I have not had a problem fitting on any rides yet, but CCMR was way more snug than I'd have liked. I think I've gained like 5 lbs since my last trip to Cedar Point, though. I'm trying to get back down to 200 before opening day or maybe lower.

How do the seat compare to Firehawk. I can ride it fine. It has a similar lap bar right.

^^Wowza!!! Ummmm....

a.) the lap bars aren't close to the same, and b.) I would say/think the Firehawk restraints are actually MORE accommodating than what D-back's will be. That said, *I* still contend if you can ride most everything at KI (sans Firehawk) then you're good for D-back!
