Diamondback FOF
Hey, Beast1979, are there any security things on iPod Touches? I saw on mine under settings it says security and then other things, but I don't know what they are.
JAHill
I really doubt it would infect an iPod.

Guest rcfreak339
There are no iPod Viruses, Now if you happen to Jailbreak your device then there are some Cydia apps that could corrupt something and you would have to restore....The iPod Touch virus is just a big urban legend. -From a huge iPod Touch nerd.... Diamondback FOF
Wait, so there are no viruses or anything that affect iPod Touchesas long as I haven't 'jailbroken' it?

Skywriter
There are people who get paid to create viruses in all kinds of devices. I have never heard of a I-Pod Touch virus but I do believe there could be one. There are a lot more people buying I-Pod Touches so the hackers know it will affect many people they don't want to go after something that is not well known they want to take out as many as possible here is and example ,Part of the reason there is much more viruses in Windows OS is most of the world uses Windows so hackers can damage 1,000 computers when there are less Mac's maybe only 10 so they are going to go after the bigger thing. Guest rcfreak339
Trust me Terpy, I know this stuff..... And even if you have jailbroken your device there are no viruses for it, just could corrupt it. When that happens....Put it in DFU mode then restore via iTunes. That person on Yahoo Answers needs to put it in DFU mode and restore.....You need to always do that if your device is not working right.... I'm into iPod Touch's, Yeah it's a nerdy hobby but I know a lot about them. I know you can NOT get a Virus from the safari application nor any application on the iPod Touch or iPhone. KI-ORIG-EMP
I received a message from this user and did not click on the please help message he sent me. I wrote a virus while in college as an assignment but never post it on the internet. It is not hard to do for an experience programmer. I once was the victim of a virus that wiped out my operating system. I had to reload my OS and ALL programs, which I had backed up. As always, BACK UP, BACK UP your computer on a regular basis. CoastersRZ
True that. I learned the hard way with that one when my computer died back in February. I had to restore it to the original factory settings. Luckily, my thesis stuff was backed up, but I lost some personal files and a project for another class. (I had the PDF file for that project, but not the original InDesign file that was used to create that file). I now back everything on my computer up on my external hard drive once a week, including email, just in case something like that happens again, at most I will have lost a week`s worth of data. tubaman
Yeah, I saw the PM thing and thought, "Yeah...no." So I just deleted it.
iChase
The Touch IS susceptible to viruses, it is a slimmed-down version of Mac OS X. But it is capable of running viruses. There aren't any out currently. But that doesn't mean some sicko won't write one. I clicked the link, but I wasn't notified of anything downloading, and nothing downloads on Mac without asking first. But to be safe, I'll be keeping a close eye on my network monitor. You can never be too careful.
CoastersRZ
Some or all of you may have received yet another spam PM from a user named "muzrinkl" within the past half hour. Do not open the link in the PM and promptly delete the personal message. The member has already been banned. Sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused. As always, do not open messages or emails from sources or people you do not know or do not trust. Thanks, -Robbie
BoddaH1994
The IPS (the people who make our forums) are aware of the PM spam are are currently working on a patch that will prevent it entirely in the future.

That being said, no less than the United States Supreme Court has said that age discrimination is not illegal if the person discriminated against is under 40. CoastersRZ
And it should be noted that the patch Ryan spoke of has been applied to the forums and will hopefully prevent such spam PM attacks in the future.
RailRider
Is this why I must wait a few minutes after sending a PM to send another PM?
CoastersRZ
It could very well be. Dane is the one that installed the patch. He might know more specifics.

Coney Islander
I think I might have got bug got on my computer from him. When I got on earlier, all of the applications on my computer turned on at the same time. Is there any way to virus scan mac computers? Never mind I figured it out. I accidentally pressed enter with all of the applications highlighted.
