Average Ride Waits at Cedar Point

Recommended Posts

Okay so I'm going to CP this summer on a wednesday and thursday. How long should I expect to wait for the following rides, or any other ride that you would reccomend?

Millennium Force

Top Thrill Dragster

Maverick

Magnum XL-200

Raptor

Mantis

When I went 4 years back I went on a saturday so the lines were pretty crowded (MF: 2 hours, TTD:4 hours).

Depending on the weather Im asuming it going to be sunny based on my trip last year at the same time.

Millennium Force - 45

Top Thrill Dragster: 30 minutes to an hour

Mverick- About 1 hour

Magnum XL-200 - 10-15 minutes

Raptor: 1 hour

Mantis: 20-40 minutes.

MF: 1.5-2.5 hours

TTD: 1.5-2.5 hours

Maverick: 1.75 hours (its full queue)

Raptor: 30 min-3 hours

Mantis: <1.5 hours

Really the 4 that will have long waits are Maverick, Raptor, MF, and TTD. Assuming that you have a platinum pass, you get an hour of ERT in the morning and you can knock off 3 of those four, easy. The fourth, Raptor has a gigantic line first thing in the morning (first ride everyone sees) but come mid afternoon, when everyone is in the back of the park you can find waits under an hour, sometimes as low as 30 min. So my suggestion is this:

1. Maverick right at ERT opening

2. MF during ERT

3. By this time it should be close to actual opening, head to TTD and wait for it to open at 10

4. From there hit up some rides near by (Power Tower, Corkscrew, Magnum) and make your way back to Gemini

5. Continue onward hitting rides in Frontiertown and then take the train to the Main Midway

6. Grab your ride on Mantis if you want (but why?) and then make your way towards WT and do that midway, then Raptor and then go up the Main Midway on the other side

7. Get your night re rides on your favorites.

Of course a whole lot of things can change this (weather, company picnics, etc.) but those are the wait times Ive seen on a "normal summer weekday."

Millennium-45 to 1 hour 45 minutes

TTD- same as Millennium

Maverick- 1 hour 15 minutes to 2 hours

Raptor-15 minutes-45 minutes

Mantis- 15-45 minutes

All of these depend on weather too, so don't be surprised if they are shorter or longer

No trip to Cedar Point is complete without a spin on Wildcat, Demon Drop and the carousel with the racing horseys! :) At least not for me. Also some real frozen custard (found back by Maverick or in the front center midway near where the ball fountain WAS) and pizza from Chuckwagon Pizza...NOT Patio Pizza. Chuckwagon is back by Maverick. The pizza there is only about 100 times better than Patio Pizza, which is by Raptor...in my opinion.

when i went to CP in 03 we ate at a buffet by raptor, i dont kow if they have it there still or not. but it was good, but wasnt good for the body. :)

That would be Midway Market. Would agree with you-excellant food. Wish the buffet at KI had such good quality.

Don't forget, guys, to factor in which months you go to CP when estimating line waits. June tends to be slow, July and August packed.

^ I'd agree with that entirely. We went last year, the Tuesday after Opening Day as a matter of fact, and after Early Entry it got busy amazingly quickly. MF went from a 10-15 min wait right at 10 to an hour inside of 20 minutes. When we left around 3 the "big 3" major rides had waits ranging anywhere from 1 to 1 3/4 hours. Anyone who wants to go to CP with shorter wait times should go next week.

Which carousel Terpy? For there are two on Point now...

There are three still. The one by the main entrance, the Kiddy Kingdom one, and racing one.

There use to be three traditional carousels, and Cedar Downs. The third was located in frontier town where the haunted house is.

Just don't go on a Saturday and you'll be fine. Guessing wait times is kind of like taking a shot in the dark, though.

I went on closing day last year and it was dead, everything was walk on.

I also went on a blazing hot day in July last summer, and it was so hot that everyone was in the water park or fanning themselves and chugging drinks in the shade, so the waits for the coasters and big rides weren't too bad.

I'll gladly wait any amount of time to ride Millie, Maggie, Maverick, and Raptor.

I've waited close to an hour to ride maXair and Blue Streak.

IMO anything else isn't worth over a 45 minute wait.. (although I will admit to waiting 2 hours for TTD at one point last summer.. I went for 3 days and just didn't care).
