wow what an effect leaving lights on then turn them off that would rock:

Beast will be around another 30 they will up=keep and keep it going!

also ace should give it both distinctions, as we know ace doin't pay insurance bills and all that for parks so give The Beast the award..

also could The Beast ever add a 3rd lift probably not but could you imagine????????

and : if a park comes close to the length would they add on to The Beast??

they will expand x base first it will be its own area....and a c oney mall overhaul:

What would be neat is leaving the lights "on" in the helix as you crest the 2nd lift hill. Then, as you start your drop into the helix, all the lights go out. What an effect!

Well....If you have to have the lights on, (which could bring a different, awesome effect to The Beast at night seeing what's ahead and what's about to happen to you, then 'lights out') why not go Strobe Lights inside all the way around the double helex? But what a way to think outside the box hankicon10.gif!!!

Strobes have a high chance of causing epileptic seizures. I've heard of one happening recently just from the flashing of daylight through the boards in the helix. I can foresee that being a big problem. They get away with it on Raptor because they aren't in your face.

Or they could just add the little warning to the Rider Information board posted at the entrance... Similar to what was posted at TRTR, and of course all the other rides in the country that utilize strobe effect lighting...

In all my years of indentured servitude on Beast we never had a seizure...

I doubt there are many photosensitive epileptics that would purposefully sit in front of a strobe light ...

Now, there's a name for a new coaster someone could build - SEIZURE. Make it intense, with VERY loud music and build it very close to the ground (terrain hugging). If done properly, you'd have to have a nurse's station at the exit

(Before everybody gets all upset with me and thinks I'm making fun of a serious medical condition, just think of all the wacky names and ideas people have had over the years for coaster designs and names. There will come a point where "tossing your cookies" after a ride just isn't enough anymore - people will want more!)

Wait, hasnt The Beast received a landmark status by ACE. There is a plaque right by the que entrance just like the one by racer. Once a coaster has acheived that status, isnt it basically against morals for the park to demolish it?

I believe it is illegal in 47 states and the District of Columbia to remove a coaster that has received ACE landmark status. :PB)

It's illegal to remove a coaster that received a ACE landmark satus?

I had a dream about that. They added on to The Beast as you left the station and it went out into the midway and over the crowd for a bit,did a few turns and went back to the first lift hill. The rest of the ride was unchanged.

It is my concern that the park will 'someday' push itself back behind 'Vortex' and next to The Beast. With it all lit up with rides and games, The Beast at night will no longer be of existence. Does ANYBODY have the same disheartening feeling about this and where could KI expand and protect our 'National Treasure'?

I highly doubt that this will ever happen. Take in consideration the logistical nightmare involved in running new electricity, plumbing, landscaping, etc. to service a new area; not to mention guests would have no choice but to walk an extra 1/2 mile to a mile to reach that destination (making it a job to enjoy your relaxing day). It makes more sense to simply remove a current "less popular" attraction and create the new attraction. The electric, water, sewage, etc. is already in place :) In that sense, I suspect that the Coney Mall is going to receive a fresh new look in the not too distant future, considering every other corner of the park has had a facelift within the last 10 years. I'm sorry that I suggested the strobe lights. I was on patrol opening the park at 10am in Nick and during my next rotations to Rivertown I got the call for a severe medical emergency at The Beast. When I arrived, I learned that the park guest in need was at the exit on the upper platform. She had a epileptic seizure from the picture flash going into the mouth on the first hill. She rode that way for five minutes. The poor gal had vomited everywhere and on everyone and didn't recover until the train returned to the station. Therefore, if it was a shorter ride...I think you could get away with strobes to accomodate any medical mishaps, but, 5 min on The Beast is a long time to wait to get help! That's why I'll never ride anywhere but the front car anymoreicon5.gif.

It is not. The only effect an ACE landmark status has is to add cosmetic niceties and possible marketing opportunities. An ACE commendation has the exact same legal effect that an official proclamation and key to the county from a Sheriff in Montana would have in Mason, Ohio. Nice to have, but of absolutely no legal effect. Not unlike being a Kentucky Colonel...sounds great, but doesn't really do all that much (though the latter will get you lots of charitable solicitations!)
