Brandon
According to Screamscape, Cedar Point has put Chaos up for sale. What do you guys think of this decision? http://screamscape.com/html/cedar_point.htm Park News - (6/17/09) Cedar Point has put their Chaos ride up for sale on the ItalIntl.com website. I was kind of surprised the park still had one, as I guess I had just assumed that they removed their Chaos back when so many other parks removed their Chaos rides earlier this decade
footballfreak
This is very interesting. I wonder why they are selling it?
kiruler102
to put it into Kings Island, since we need another flat ride. They will put it right where that clearing is ! 120,000$ ? i think i will buy it and put it outside in my backyard!!!!. build a building around it so i can ride it anytime. Brandon
Yea I know that's what I was thinking. Seems kind of cheap for a thrill ride huh?
westcoaster
Chaos which one is that, the one that flips and rotates????? 2 people per cart, back by the beach, near pirate ship etc.???? If that's it what a loss its a great ride!!! What is cedarpoint doing ? Is there going to be a 2010 project up there? this and demon drop????/
kiruler102
probably since SFMM is already planning to build there 17th coaster, so if CP wants to keep on top they must start building there th coaster. But sadly they are running out of room. But its CF they will make room some way or another.

westcoaster
was chaos in the back near pirate ship at cedarpoint???????? I think so and its still opertating this year right??? Yes and cedarpoint can make room out of anything especially for a new coaster???
RailRider
This isn't the first time CP has tried to sell Chaos. Mainly started since the ride was determined to have faulty pins that hold the passenger vehicles on to the ride. Atleast that is what my memory says. Im sure someone will correct me if Im wrong. Even with the fix CP has been looking to get rid of this ride. Personally I think Chaos is an awesome flat.
Erosarrow05
Chaos is such a fun ride - at least for me ... The only downside is obviously the incidents other parks have had with that ride, and to me, the extremely slow load and unload time... Beast79
I love Chaos, does anyone know it Kentucky kingdom still has theirs. Or I can stop being lazy and check there website

Yes and cedarpoint can make room out of anything especially for a new coaster??? Yea it's back near pirate ship and across from Wicked Twister, and it is operating this year. The website its up for sale on says that the availability date is November 2nd which is the day after Cedar Point closes. So the ride is most likely going to run for the entire 2009 season. Brandon
I don't know but it's seems kind of weird too me that they would put 2 of their thrill rides up for sale. Cedar Point better get some more, they don't have that many to begin with.
Guest rcfreak339
Most parks that had a Chaos ride have all sold them due to major technical problems and some pretty bad accidents with them in the past.

Dalefan
its one of my favorites,,, i seem very secure, in it, slow loading but great ride,,,, so chaos? Demon drop? ' going what else??? Well, i hear that they are selling Magnum, Maverick, and Top Thrill Dragster. Lol. Joking. Demon Drop has been for sale for along time now. Geauga Lake use to have a Demon Drop type of ride called Mr. Hydes Nasty Fall. But it was taken out. It had a very very short wait time just like the Cedar Point Demon Drop has alot. I would of thought that the Columbus Zoo would of bought it for the water park ride area but they didnt. Im not shocked that Chaos is for sale. Go Browns
I'm not really concerned with CP getting rid of Chaos, I say get rid of it before it hurts someone. As for Demon Drop, I love that ride but from what I hear it is getting difficult to find replacement parts for the old ride and they just want to get rid of it while it's still worth something. The Chaos location would be ideal for a little Jr. Gemini sized kiddie coaster and I think they could fit a pretty large coaster in Demon Drop's. Although, looking at the satellite view of that area that gives me nightmares of Scream! at SFMM. Seems pretty normal to me get rid of one ride that is a potential lawsuit and one ride that is well past its expiration date. Wow westcoaster I think you might have set the record for the most question marks in only three posts.
KIBeast
I like Chaos. Although considering the problems and accidents associated with that type of ride, this does not surprise me. The loading time is pretty slow, but at a smaller park with less crowds, I think it could fit in well. Maybe KI would get it, but that would really surprise me considering they have enough flats/thrill rides with slow loading times.

I would of thought that the Columbus Zoo would of bought it for the water park ride area but they didnt. Why would they buy it? The reason these parks are getting rid of theirs is the fact that parts are becoming scarce seeing as how Demon Drop is the last in the U.S. Sorry Cedar Point. Whatever you do you can't revitalize the WT midway. But back on topic, I never rode Chaos when I went because I don't like to spin. I might have to do it once or twice now that it's leaving. RailRider
Sorry Cedar Point. Whatever you do you can't revitalize the WT midway. But back on topic, I never rode Chaos when I went because I don't like to spin. I might have to do it once or twice now that it's leaving. So there is nothing Cedar Point can do to revitalize the WT Midway? Hmm didn't know it was effected or dead. Seeing as how Wicked Twister, MaXair and the Feris Wheel all reside here. 3 Very popular rides at the point. Not to mention a nice quite place at the park when you get around the stadium. So if CP were to pave the midway with gold install 10 new rides and hand out $100 to every guest who spent time in the midway, they still wouldn't be able to revitalize it? PhantomTheater
This upsets me, for chaos is one of my favorite flats. Of course I liked it better at its original location by corkscrews station.
RollerNut
That listing has been up for years, I found it back in 2006. Doesn't mean that it is for sure, the one at Cedar Point, or that Chaos will be removed. Chances are it is, but chances are it won't be sold. PKIDelirium
Yeah, they've previously tried to sell other Chaos rides they own, using a stock photo of CP's. Screamscape must have a short memory.

Cedar Point better get some more, they don't have that many to begin with. They have more to offer than Kings Island, personally I think its KI that needs to step it up in that department. Chaos rides have been disappearing quickly ever since the accident at Michigan's Adventure, so no surprises here. For me the rides are rather dull so I'm not too upset seeing them go. violakat03
I adore Chaos but it's losing popularity. Even on busy days, they can't always fill up a ride cycle. Don't know if that's because it's such an intense flat ride and not many people's stomachs can handle it, or if they've heard of the past problems and accident, or what. I'm not overly surprised to see it go, but it makes me sad as I really enjoy it.
fcbaseball
The Chaos location would be ideal for a little Jr. Gemini sized kiddie coaster and I think they could fit a pretty large coaster in Demon Drop's. Although, looking at the satellite view of that area that gives me nightmares of Scream! at SFMM. The only difference is that Cedar Fair has always valued the appearance of their flagship park and will continue to. While CP was adding coasters that are both aesthetically and rider pleasing, SFMM at the time was trying to keep up with the coaster count. I am very pleased to see how the two coasters since Scream! have turned out; both Tatsu and Terminator have fit well with the park.
