What annoys you about the park?

Figured this might save some threads, since there seem to be quite a few threads of this type lately... and, it's a REALLY good excuse to vent. Which I need after TTD's been closed during my entire visit to CP.

-Our season passes. Why are they so thin? Why does the Cedar Point PP have a picture of the Eiffel Tower, but ours doesn't? Why does it refer to FearFest?

-Being stapled into wooden coasters. I haven't gotten stapled into Mean Streak or Blue Streak at Cedar Point. Then I realized that I always get stapled at KI. And it made me sad.

-Security issues. I was shocked to see no line jumping at CP.

-Trim brakes. I laughed when I saw a sign at CP that advertised a energy drink. It said, "Ride Warrior Approved Additive! Increases G-Forces! Prevents Trim Brake!" Cedar Fair, only you can prevent trim brakes.

-Loud music. The music seems especially loud in The Beast's entry plaza this year, and in the shows. I'd rather not lose my hearing, kthx.

-The way ERT is handled. I've seen people show the employees Kroger cards and get into the ERT. In fact, one time, I totally forgot to bring my pass and left it with my mom on I-Street. They didn't even notice that I didn't have it!

-Spitting. I find this absolutely digusting. And, if I know that it was you that spit on my, I WILL make sure that you're talked to by security.

i don't like line jumpers, the high food prices, the things that refer to things not at the park, like the photo booths that have king cobra frames as an option, people that think just because you are shorter than them you need to move out of their way, and people who complain about Son of Beast (it's one thing if you don't like it, but just don't rant on about how horrible it is in your eyes, because some people, like me, are big fans of it).

^^That is a good point, another thing is that Mr. Kinzel has stated that CF does not run theme parks, but what is Knotts? It is also kind of dissapointing with how what they consider KI to be, especially since Taft, the park's builders, even called it a theme park. IMO, i consider KI as a "themed amusement park".

Last week i was on the top of the Eiffel Tower when two kids spiit off the top of it. They were immediately talked to and told that they would have to go talk to security. They begged the man not to make them go because their dad would be mad at them and then the kids went on to complain that there are no signs that say you cant spit on the top of the Eiffel Tower. Ummm........

line jumping and cost of food is my biggest complaints. people will walk right past you just to get with "their group" well if your that good of friends have your group come back to the end of the line and wait with you. beating a dead horse i know. i even had a kid cut in front of us in the line for drinks. Ok it is a park i do expect to pay a little more for food and drink but come on some of the prices are crazy. If the singlerider lines were better policed they would be a good idea.

I agree with Cedar Pointer. There is something missing at KI. I hesitate to call it.....magic, but the park seems to be more of a carnival than even an amusement park. There used to be distinct areas with distinct bounderies (there are some remnants left), but now you hear the same crap music blaring from every corner of the park. We generally keep moving just to try to avoid listening to it. As a matter of fact, I don't believe that we've stayed in the park more than two hours before becoming annoyed with something and leaving. KI is just is not like other parks. I can't put my finger on what it is but, even with a platinum pass, I could skip KI for the rest of this season and not feel like I've missed anything. I sure hope something changes or I may not get a pass next year.

Im annoyed that the employees at the re-entry stamp keep telling me i cant get it on the inside of my wrist. Ive done this for years with no problems until this year. also why arent they almost clear like the ones at Cedar Point?

One of the colors is fairly water resistant. Some of the others run if you look at them. It is rather ridiculous that nearly every other park in the country that uses handstamps has no problems with them whatsoever, but Kings Island can't seem to master relatively fadeproof, water-resistant ink, and claims the ink used in the past is "too expensive." Sheesh.

I'm sure it saves them a few nickles...

Waiting in lines. I'd rather ride Zephyr, or visit Lt. Dan's porch than stand in a long line for a coaster. Having said that, there's a few that I willingly wait in (that still regularly attract) long lines for: Beast, Flight Deck, and now Diamondback.

Really the only things I can think of that annoy me are faults of guests and not (necessarily) the park itself.

1. (MAJOR pet peeve) Couples who won't stay off of eachother in lines

2. When I politely remind someone who is smoking out of place that there are designated smoking areas, and they blow smoke in my face

3. Guests that spit all over the pathways and on other guests

Number 2 is the only one that the park has the ability to control, but Cedar Fair doesn't seem to care.

Not fond of the hand stamp. Our visit during Memorial Weekend, I had to run out to the car to get something. It was around 9:45am and the guy at re-entry did NOT want to let me back in. My hand stamp was put on in a smudged manner. It was just a blob of orange. He looked at my hand and said "When did you get this?!" I told him I had just gotten it minutes earlier, I needed something from the car and now I'm trying to get back in to my family. He said "I can't read it. You can't get in." I showed him my Gold Pass, he shook his head no and pointed for me to leave.

I told him my kids and husband were inside waiting on me. I can't help the guy in the hand stamp booth put it on the way he did. By this time, the National Anthem was playing and he shooed me away saying he had to close. I stepped out, waited the the song to finish, then went into another line. Had no problem getting in.

I dunno, I would think a blob of the handstamp color of the day would suffice. Especially if you have a Gold pass

Since then, when we visit, I do not leave the park unless I'm leaving for the day.

My stamp also was a orange blob. They should go back to the blacklight stamps.

The speakers on Diamondback are quite annoying (That come from the line seperator) which you can hear while on the stairs.

"How many?"

"How many?"

"How many?"

Lol I'm glad I'm not the only one who wonders why that speaker needs to be so loud. The only reason the separater even needs a mic is if they need the attention of someone that's across the station. Mute it otherwise.

I'm annoyed by the handstamps. I'm allergic to many kinds of ink and unless it's on the back of my hand, I'm likely to react to it. KI puts it there to start but then it'll smear all over and I'll wonder why the side of my face is itching like crazy, only to discover I've got ink on it! I discovered last week how easy it is for me to re-enter without a stamp due to my skin reaction and probably will not get a handstamp again unless they switch to a non smearing ink. Every other park I've been to so far this year, including Cedar Point and Kings Dominion, has used the non smearing invisible ink, so I don't buy the top expensive line. They buy it for their other parks, why not KI?

Trim brakes. I'll leave it at that.

Lack of rule enforcement. It's a dead horse on this board, so I won't continue the bludgeoning.

And finally, food prices. People buy more if it's a reasonable price. I have yet to buy a single food item at a Cedar Fair park this year. At Holiday World yesterday, I got a funnel cake, a full meal for lunch, a caramel apple and 5 things of fudge. All of that was less than $20 combined. And that's $20 more than Cedar Fair has gotten from me for food. I will not pay almost $4 for a fountain soda and now that they've done away with the wristbands (which seemed to be always going up in price) I will most likely not drink a single soda at KI again this season. That's a lot of nickels they're missing out on from me.

I know they are at other parks, but the ever-present thumping basketballs drives me insane! I really don't care that you think you are hot stuff for making baskets from the free throw line. I don't need you walking along behind me dribbling it all day. And, I really dislike having to watch where I'm going when said free-throw aces let the basketball get away from them and it rolls across the midway tripping people as it goes.

That's the classic, juvenille delinquent excuse. "Please make an exception for poor little me, because my dad/mom will get mad/has a heart condition/etc." I've heard the "no sign" excuse before, too. Sigh!

I remember when the hand stamp was fluorescent, and you had to hold it under a black light to see it(1970s).

The magic feeling of the park is at the front gate and international street, when they're playing the right kind of music, that is. I don't know what focus group they consulted to determine their current music choice, but that grand, orchestral flare is what added that element that is now missing. If they want to blast Lynyrd Skynyrd throughout the park, that's their prerogative, but it clashes with the fountains, tower, landscaping, etc., and makes them unnecessary in my humble opinion.

Some of the employees at both Cedar Point and Kings Island really need an attitude adjustment. I do not appreciate having eyes rolled at me when I politely ask for a specific seat, grumbling when I am pouring sweat and just want a cup of ice water, or ride ops literally yelling at me to take my flip flops off when it was just something I simply forgot.. even after I apologized to one ride op, she got all snippy and muttered something under her breath.

Excuse me? This is how you treat your customers?

I am a platinum passholder and I spend money in the park. What more do you want?

Take a hint from Holiday World.. SMILE AND BE NICE TO US, AND MEAN IT!! If you hate your job that much, don't work there!

I couldnt agree more. The nicest ride op groups at the park the last time i went were Diamondback, Beast, Monster, and BLSC.

I agree with most of what's written under this topic, but something else irritated me when I visited last Sunday. Since this was the bring a friend day for season pass holders, the crowd was pretty large. Yet some of the ride operators did not seem to care. I saw what seemed to me too many empty seats on coasters, and the log ride kept being loaded with only 2 or 3 people on a log when the line was starting to build.

The worst example by far was at Snowy River Rampage. The line was out the front when I got in it, and was really moving slowly. The employees at the start of the ride were making no efforts whatsoever to combine groups like what I have experienced in past years. I would guess at least a third of the rafts were going out with just 2 people in them. That's inexcusable on a high volume day.

I really, really wish that Kings Island would take a great big hint from Holiday World. I don't like being treated like an inconvenience at a ride, either. They need to look at how HW runs their wooden coasters, too.

Trim brakes everywhere you turn.

Basketballs.

The line jumpers are annoying, but I refuse to let one or two ruin my day at the park. I usually go with my brother, and we can make a good roadblock in the que line when needed.

I miss the nice music that Paramount had playing on I-street. It did fit the mood of the tower and the fountain much better than the loud music (I think you can call it music) that they play now.
