violakat03
Since I'm really bad at remember to post TRs if any amount of time passes after I've visited the park, I'm going to try something new. A mobile TR! This won't be a full featured TR until I get home and can upload my photos, but in the mean time, I can get the info up before I forget! Since this is posted from my BlackBerry, please forgive any unusual spelling or formatting errors. Little keys make things difficult. I've had the opportunity this past week to go on the road with my husband. Our first out of state load took us to western Indiana, where we finally made a trip to Holiday World together. Look for my mobile TR/PTR on that soon. The next day we were sent from louisville to Kansas City. Kansas City just happens to be the home of a Cedar Fair park and a new wooden coaster I didn't think I'd get to ride for several years so this was a wonderful turn of events for me. We dropped off our load at around 2:30 on the south side of town. We were at Worlds of Fun within an hour! Because we were concerned we may get another load out before we had time to ride everything, we went directly to Prowler. Did not pass go, did not collect $200. There was only 1 train on the track so what looked like only a 10 minute wait was actually 20 or so. We waited the extra few trains for front seat. My first impression was similar to my first impression of Voyage. A great coaster, but not quite good enough to surpass Beast on my top wood list. But this was not my last ride nor my last impression of the day on it. After Prowler, we headed toward Boomerang to get it over with. I strongly dislike Vekoma coasters. And wouldn't you unow it, Boomerang was down. Big surprise for a Vekoma, right? That meant it was time for my first Morgan coaster, Mamba. Also running one train, we spent about 15 minutes in line. After a front seat ride my impression was an odd one. Very similar in structure and second half to Magnum. Very similar in first half and smoothness to Superman Ride of Steel. Yet it wasn't quite as good as either. After Mamba we hit the park's second woodie, a Dinn Corp called Timber Wolf that was a complete walk on. After quietly cursing what is starting to become a Cedar Fair trademark, a trim brake on the first drop, I enjoyed the rest of the ride. Good pops of air time and a nice out of control feeling without becoming violent. From Timber Wolf, we started searching for food. We walked through the Orient section and couldn't pass up Spinning Dragons. It made my husband feel ill just looking at it (he cannot do spinning rides at all) so I went solo to yet another walk on coaster. This was my first spinning wild mouse and I loved it! I really enjoy spinning rides and combine that with a coaster, makes it even better! Now it was definitely time for food. We hit the only sit down eatery we found, a sports bar type restaurant. The food was not horrendously priced and was very good. I ordered nachos, expecting an appetizer size but got a meal big enough for 3! My husband helped me quite a bit with it and we still didn't finish! After lunch/dinner we headed to the truck so my husband could recharge his phone a bit and we could grab some sodas since we were tired of just water. After knocking back a diet mt dew each and taking a break, it was back to the park! Patriot was next on our list. I've never met a B&M invert I didn't like but I was a little weary of the track layout, which looked like a real snoozer when compared to Raptor. However, in the back seat, it did not disappoint, and my theory was proved right again. There is no such thing as a bad, or even mediocre, B&M invert. From Patriot, we rode the train to appease my train loving husband. Unlike many parks, their train is only a ride, not a form of transportation as there is only one station. I used it as a great opportunity to snap a lot of photos of the park that I will post in a few days. Going to post this section and continue on in another post because my thumbs need a rest. violakat03
I just realized that I have the date wrong. It should be 6/30 not 6/29. Oh well, will fix that later! Moving on now that my thumbs have rested a bit. From the train, I got in my guilty pleasure, the carousel. After these 2 flat rides we went to the now-working Boomerang to get the last available credit in the park, since the Wacky Worm requires a child. Walk on, of course, and I found a gold dollar coin on the floor of the car. Kaching! Unfortunately this was the only bright spot in the ride. As expected, it was violent, with lots of headbanging in the cobra roll and a really bad whiplash manuever when it grabbed the catch car on each spire. Well, I'm a credit whore and therefore a glutton for punishment, right? Now that we'd ridden everything it was time to grab rerides and any other flats that caught our eye in the last hour or so. I wanted to ride the enterprise ride, Zulu, which was another one my husband opted out of. Then it was dark enough for a Prowler reride. They'd put the second train on so it was a short station wait. After less than 10 minutes we were on the front seat. Prowler, like Beast and Big Bad Wolf, gives a very different night ride. Plus it was flying as it had all day to warm up. This ride, like my evening rides on Voyage my first trip there, bumped it pretty much to the top of my wood coaster list. Voyage is still better but it beat out El Toro. We ran around for another ride before close and this time took the very back seat. It was even more amazing back there and I believe it firmly beat the stew out of El Toro. Sadly, after our last ride on Prowler, it was time to leave. I bought a Prowler shirt before going of course and then took a couple more pics on our way out to the truck. Bye Worlds of Fun! Thanks for a great day!

Avatar
Kat enjoying the update trip report, I enjoy reading your amusement park Tour 09, so keep-em coming. I must say I think I am most impressed with your ability (patience) to type out a trip report on your blackberry. I hope the two of are enjoying your time together. The Interpreter
She and her husband or she and her Blackberry? Terpy, still waiting with baited breath for a report of her great adventure
Erosarrow05
Im a little confused - she posts all the time from her bb and it always has that little tag line 'posted from my bb device' ... yet it doesnt say that this time... perhaps its all a ruse... :-D oddly enough my blackberry has never put that silly little tag on things... (hopefully it never will)

violakat03
Yep, I manually put that in there when I'm on my BlackBerry. That way when the formatting does something crazy or I get a bizarre mispelling, people don't think I'm just off my rocker or suck at typing. A lot of times I don't catch the errors until I'm in front of a computer and then I'm like... How on earth did that happen?! After I had an incident or two of weird screw ups, I started tagging my mobile posts on all forums I post on. Terpy- my videos from my great adventure (with at least one Terpy shout out) are already on my YouTube channel. I just haven't had time for the rest of it! Posted from my BlackBerry mobile device. KIfan1980
my videos from my great adventure (with at least one Terpy shout out) are already on my YouTube channel. I'm not sure I wanted to learn that you had 93 videos of your park trips on YouTube. I already spend way too much time on KIC and don't want to get addicted to YouTube as well. violakat03
Holy cow, I have 93 videos?! I never actually looked at my count! Posted from my BlackBerry.
DropZone99
You sure like posting on your blackberry, Kat! My friend has one and I suck at typing on it, I hate touch screens.
CedarPointer
They added the trim brake back to Timber Wolf?! NOOOOOO!! I thought it was gone for good! It was actually physically gone last year...
violakat03
There was another trim brake about halfway through the ride that was off/open. I felt the one on the drop grab though. ^^ my BlackBerry isn't a touch screen. I can't stand touch screens either. Posted from my BlackBerry. violakat03
Alright, I finally got a chance to clean off my memory card and upload my photos from a real computer! Look! Prowler!! Prowler's station. Prowler-y goodness. That last hill where it twists to the left, was really, really cool. Zulu Just some theming pictures. For a Cedar Fair park, the theming was actually pretty amazing. Not quite Busch Gardens, but getting there! Oh look, the Vekoma's broken. Mamba time! Sign in Timber Wolf's station. Holy cow, HUGE NACHOS! My husband was hungry. Even with both of us eating on them, this is how much we couldn't finish of the nachos. Bamboo forest in the Orient section. Spinning Dragons. Great positioning of their SkyCoaster. Except it was like 30 bucks to ride. If it'd been like .. $5 or $10, I'd have ridden it and might have even gotten my husband on. Now entering the America section. Time for a B&M invert! The sun shades in the line were kinda neat looking. B&Ms are very photogenic. Cool trains, too. violakat03
I want to ride Partiot SOOO bad! How was it? Great photos and TR by the way! I'd honestly rank it below the other four B&M inverts I've ridden. But it was still good. Far above any Vekoma SLC.
DaveStroem
Kat, you mentioned that you too are out for coaster credits. What is your count up to now? After this weekend, we may need to back off a bit as this addiction is taking its toll on the budget. With the exception on HW, I think we are going to keep to CF & SF parks for the rest of the summer. I was really looking forward to Hershey though. violakat03
I'm not sure how many I have just this year, but I've got a total of 95. If I can grab the last couple credits in Virginia, I'll have 98. I didn't get Ghoster Coaster or left side Rebel Yell at KD or the Great Chase at SFA yet. flightoffear1996
Man you visit alot of parks! How was Prowler? It looked kind of ifey to me from the animation.
CedarPointer
Would this be a bad time to mention that I've *never* seen Boomerang broken?
DropZone99
Nice photos. Prowler reminds me of Raven and Voyage combined. Even though Patriot doesn't look near as intense as most Inverts, I think it looks like a really good one. Do you get any airtime on the 'airtime hill?' pkiboy
Would this be a bad time to mention that I've *never* seen Boomerang broken? Yes I have.
