There is no indication that Cedar Fair intends to bring back Winterfest this year or in any future year. They prefer the large crowds that Halloween Haunt brings in...and there really isn't time to do both well. Or so it is said.

There's a higher chance that CF will do these things:

1. Remove trim brakes from The Beast.

2. Lower food prices.

3. Fix theming on The Crypt.

4. Fix BLSC's water theming.

5. Turn Racer Blue backwards.

6. Rename Drop Tower.

7. Give out free park tickets.

8. Remove all of the Paramount labelscars.

9. Add a new themed attraction for 2010, complete with Hollywoodized effects!

10. Sell Cedar Point.

In other words, no.

12. Reopen the Gold Pass Speedlanes.

I like that idea, but it will sadly never happen. So yes the answer is pretty much flat out NO. there will not be a winterfest at KI.

The Beast has always and always will be trimmed...The Best would not be a pleasent ride without them..I and other members have stated it so many times that The Beast needs trims to maintain the right level of smoothness.

WinterFest back in 2005 was just plain horrible.

My family and I loved Winterfest back in 2005. It gave us something fun to do as a family to get geared up for the holidays. The crowds weren't large, the ice skating rink was closed due to the ice being rough because it was warmer the day before, but it was still an amazing time. It was fun browsing through all the stuff at the shops, seeing all the decorations, watching the light show, watching the tree lighting ceremony, watching the "street" magician do tricks, and more. The atmosphere at the park was great, and the event was well done. I wish they'd bring it back.

The first part of your statement is true. The Beast has always had some level of trim brakes. The last part of your statement is false. The Beast is much faster with the brakes off, and it does not ride rougher. The Beast never did have that rediculous bounce that it now has until they started with their magnetic trims. I have ridden without trims, and will stand behind my statement. The Beast does NOT need trims to maintain smoothness.

I find it kind of ironic how in the last year of full paramount ownership, PKI actually did something good and well liked to bring back an old ki tradition only to have it phased out yet again by CF in 06 <_<

Ironic? Hardly. Just as a homeowner often paints the house, cleans the bathrooms and sets out nice aromatic candles before an open house, Paramount Parks aka CBS gussied up and presented Winterfest at Paramount's Kings Island, where it originated, and at Paramount's Carowinds, the then flagship park, signed a long term Coke contract, and then sold out.

Given the pricing CBS aka Paramount set, there was no way the event could have been a financial success...and it was not. The sale, however, was.

At least they were willing to go out on a limb for something guests regularly inquire about...

To whoever said it was horrible, I have absolutely no idea what event you were attending but I could not disagree 100% more.

hmmm i see.....thanks for the insight i really didnt want to use the word "ironic" it was just the very word that popped into my head, maybe i should have said "failed marketing sceme"

I will admit, the lights on I-Street was nice. But working on most of the nights, there wasn't anything to do. I found the Cincinnati Zoo to offer more for the money.

So, the next time you ride Flight Deck or Stunt Tower, or dine at Juke Box Diner you can say "Thanks, Winterfest 2005!".

Of course, you could do the same after riding Diamondback or Firehawk...

so basically it was more of a show for potential park buyers more so than than for the general public?

I never went to winterfest in 05, we never got a chance to, but after seeing the ads and commercials i thought that it looked amazing. I just never knew untill later on that it wasnt very successfull. Maybe if it had been, do you think CF would have kept it?
