spiderdan
Was messing around with Bing maps and their bird's eye view. Found a few points of interest far outside King's Island's developed areas. Maybe some of you folks can identify some of this junk? http://www.bing.com/maps/default.aspx?v=2&...1&encType=1 You can see some trams to the left, as well as the top right. They continue in a line if you pan to the right. If you pan up, there is a nursery, which may or may not be owned by Kings Island. Towards the middle right of the picture you can see a sign in two pieces. I'm not sure what the sign says, but I believe the bottom half has the Nickelodeon logo. Because the different angles were taken at different times, things come and go if you rotate the map. In some of the views, there are some green track pieces which I thought might be from King Cobra. http://www.bing.com/maps/default.aspx?v=2&...1&encType=1 This is another area of interest. Once again you can see a tram. I take particular notice here of the cars in the top left, which I believe are from king cobra. Rotate the map one time counter clockwise and the area is laden with green track. If I remember correctly, cobras track was eventually scrapped and the cars were sent to another park for spare parts on another togo coaster. http://www.bing.com/maps/default.aspx?v=2&...1&encType=1 This last one is less discernible. There is a structure with assorted junk to its west. To its southeast there are some pillars. Rotate for better views. As a local resident, I am tempted to do some exploring. However, there are security vehicles in some of these shots, and I don't think they are there by chance. I have a feeling they patrol these areas a lot. The Interpreter
The nursery does belong to Kings Island. Cedar Fair does not take trespassing lightly, nor do most property owners. I do not recommend you enter property without the express permission of the landowner.
spiderdan
Probably best not to. At least they can't stop me from doing a little snooping online.

Coaster Kid
Im takeing some gusses here except for pic 3. pic 1. Looks like very old tracks for maybe The Bat im just takieng a guess but looks like it. Pic 2. Amazing thoses tracks are exactly as King Cobras and those trains are King Cobra's to me I think KI's not telling us everything. Pic 3. That is Trail of Terrer becasue it is located right next to Firehawk.
DBru
Hmm, when you zoom out and explore around the 2nd map (after rotating counter-clockwise), you can see King Cobra's track, trains, and Firehawk. When was KC's track supposedly scrapped, again?
PKIDelirium
#1 is Ghoster Coaster next to the parking trams. #2 is the remaining King Cobra cars, the Gerstlauer trains from Geauga, and a bunch of Haunt junk.
Coaster Kid
Never thought of Scooby Doos Ghoster Coaste. And those are trains for KB but im pretty sure that is the Tracks to KC.
mrsteele
Ok those maps are freaky...whenever scrolling through it there is definite time changes...one minute the lake is there..the next is where they drained it at the start of Diamondback construction...then got over by FOF and Firehawk wasn't even there yet and all the King Cobra track is laid out in the junkyard..weird indeed. spiderdan
It's incredible that you guys can spot all this. I only caught the cobra stuff because it was green so it sticks out. PKIDelirium, did ki purchase a ride from Geauga? I'm afraid the cobra was the only ride I ever recall riding that is now gone. Also, do you guys think the trail of terror stuff was built for that purpose or is it left over from something else? I've never came out for fearfest/Halloween Haunt, but I cant imagine what they'd use a bunch of cement pillars for??? EDIT: Coaster Kid, what do you mean KB? I'm afraid I can't place that acronym. The Interpreter
Kings Island and Geauga Lake share a corporate parent, Cedar Fair. Although a bookeeping transaction may be created for financial purposes, in essence there is no real sale from one park to another... Coaster Kid
The Halloween Haunt "Junk" they keep it there all year surprisingly do to wheater and the huge wind storm if you remember. But most of us KICers have well brained knowledge on KI and its history.
spiderdan
Thanks for the reply interpreter. So there just being stored at ki? Seems like it would be problematic to transport those...
The Interpreter
I didn't say that. Far be it from me to say why they are there. Terpy, who notes in passing that the trains from Twisted Twins are currently at Six Flags St Louis...and he's not talkin' about that either. DBru
Is it still possible for SOB to run 3 trains? (Or maybe the G-trains are there to be used for spare parts?)
KI-ORIG-EMP
As a long term resident of Kings Mills, I know the area very well. In my youth, I used to hike through that area all the time. If you pan the map along the river, you can also see the ruins of the former King Powder Company. http://www.middletownlibrary.org:8080/cgi-...mp;CISOVIEWTMP=
skaterboy22101
Ok. those maps are from a while ago. One map shows SoB still with the loop, and another shows GWL under construction. So those maps are 4 or 5 years old. KC's track has been scraped since 2006, or 2007. No, SoB can not run with 3 trains.
Hank
It was neat to see those map pics. It would be cool to have a small coaster in my yard - even the Ghoster Coaster would be OK with me - but I'm not a mechanic and if it wouldn't run, I wouldn't know what to do. Too bad it's just laying there.
The Interpreter
...No, SoB can not run with 3 trains. Why not?
Beast1979
Son of Beast can run 3 trains, I believe. But do they have the 3rd G train to use?
skaterboy22101
...No, SoB can not run with 3 trains. Why not? Well because....I SAID SO. Bahahahaha
CedarPointer
SoB was designed to run with 3 trains. In fact, I think the park might have owned three Premier trains at one point.
MarketingExpress
SOB was indeed designed to run 3 trains, however in order to keep the train from consistenly stopping in the block brakes, the crew would need to be on their game every minute of the day which isn't likely to happen. Diamondback96
...No, SoB can not run with 3 trains. Why not? Because it's closed! hooky, who couldn't resist
Diamondback96
http://www.bing.com/maps/default.aspx?v=2&...1&encType=1 Is that a tunnel going under SOB?
Coaster Kid
Yep thats used for matmince (cant spell it) Plus if you look carefully you can notice a Port A Jon
DeLorean Rider
Yep thats used for matmince (cant spell it) Plus if you look carefully you can notice a Port A Jon Uh, no it's not. Does that look like a road going throug it? It's a drainage tunnel. Does anyone remember when there used to be a giant creek under Top Gun? Now it's all been partially landscaped over and the water is diverted through a culvert. Still you can see the entrance to the tunnel on the other side of SOB near Top Gun. This "tunnel" is the exit to that culvert. The water that flows through it is primarily drainage from the parking lot. Did you even try to spell maintenance? Seriously that's pitiful. If you know you're spelling wrong then spell check it. Use Firefox, it spell-check's everything.

Diamondback FOF
I didn't take it as mean and threatful. He's just trying to give you a suggestion about using spell check.
