With all the rain earlier and the open til midnight Saturday hours, I looked at the webcam at 7:30pm and decided to hit up the park for some laps on DB. While I had fun and still got a bunch of rides in, the Single Rider Line was not very helpful due to an unusual seperation approach.

The seat assigner was filling the train out of the main queue from both ends, sending odd numbered groups to the front and even numbered groups to the back. The unusual thing was that he was matching up odd numbered groups from the main queue without releasing single riders. An example of how this worked:

Groups: Assigned to

- 4: Two in 16, Two in 15

- 3: Two in 2, One in 3

- 6: Two in 14, Two in 13, Two in 12

- 2: Row 11

- 5: One in 3, Two in 4, Two in 5

- 4: Two in 10, Two in 9

Single riders were only released if a large group came and there was only one row left (2 single riders were released together) or if the odd numbered group came as the train was filled.

While this is a potential way to use the single rider line, the approach had a big unintended consequence - there were a BUNCH of empty seats on trains (many groups got confused and waited for the next train to ride together, rows were just flat missed, odd groups were never paired up).

This also led to a very long wait in the SRL.

I should also mention three positive experiences as well though:

- the supervisor I talked to about it seemed to genuinely care about my concern

- the ride op who was doing this was also watching closely for line jumpers and actually removed many people who "appeared" in the SRL when he knew it was closed

- a couple of ride ops remained calm and respectful when a dad got heated (trying to intimidate, pointing fingers in their faces) for not letting his 53 1/2" tall daughter ride

A parent who does that infront of his or her child needs to be taught a lesson. A child sees that and thinks its ok for them to do that. Good parent skills lol.

One timke there wa a single rider in row 1 so I asked if I could go ther with him. All I got was was being told to go to row 6 and yelled at by the ride op. But the man noticed me and asked me if I wanted to ride front with him and I said yes.

Other guests are not in charge of where you sit. By disregarding the ride op, you technically broke Ohio's Rider Responsibility Law, and could have been ejected from the park and/or been prosecuted under the law.

I was going to be sitting alone if I anyway but i askde the ride op if it was alright and the said to fill it in in row 1.

Then, that would be okay. But to disregard a ride op's instructions would not have been.

You know every time I ride Diamondback me and my friend just politely ask for row #1 and he says ok and lets me through. But sometimes when its crowded or the ride op is grumpy they say no..... which is ok sometimes.

If your in the regular line, ask politely and you will most likely get a seat where you want.

Actually, my fear was that it was some sort of "test" to see if they could effectively fill trains without a Single Rider Line - if it was, it failed, but after my conversation with the supervisor I don't think it was.

I've noticed that when the queue is full they don't let you sit where you want. So I just don't even bother anymore.

Sometimes they will let you sit where you want. I have asked for row sixteen and row one many times with a full queue and they gave it to me it just depends who is assining seats.

I must say I've used the SRL for the vast majority of my rides on DB thus far this season and can say that overall, I think they have it down. Usually if the SRL is at the bottom of the stairs, you're looking at about a 15-20 min wait. Most times, the SRL is closed once it creeps to just beyond the bottom of the stairs. It is then closed for about 15-20 min while they clear the line, then it opens back up. Thus, if the main que is 30 min or more, I usually opt for the SRL because even if I have to wait for it to reopen, I know that once it does, I can proceed to the top of the stairs and get on within a few trains.

At this point, I really don't see why they bother closing the SRL.

Six Flags hated Ohio due to our ride rules being too strick for them. Lol.

Yeah, right. Then explain New Jersey and the climate there.

There is no way Six Flags hated Ohio for that reason. Were that the case, they would have never assembled The Theme Park That Would Compete With Cedar Point And Make Tons of Profit Forevermore With Literally Dozens of Coasters Galore.

That would be nice if Firehawk had a single rider line. I would of rode it a lot more this year.

Its right in the front by the entrence like you pass it when you go into the regualr line but it goes towards the lft side of the station.

Things don't go according to plan every time. Put in factors like:

-People switching rows

-People not entering the train when they're supposed to

-People waiting for friends in other rows; trying to ballance things out themselves

Here's what I always say. The single rider line NEVER has an estimated wait time. But the main line does. If using the single rider line is too much of a hassle for you; then use the main line. If the main line is too long for your taste, then go to a different ride or attraction.

I hate when friends enter the single rider line together and are placed in rows but then end up riding with each other. I Have seen a lot of them get caught but some get away.
