Where is my thread?

Recommended Posts

I'm not saying I agree with it...I was just giving you my guess...I figured you might not know about the other thread since it was only called "Ok fess up".

Yep, I didn't have a clue about that thread. Thanks for the link.

HTCO, it doesn't take up space on the database.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it does.

If a mod simply hits the delete button, and then proceeds to hit Yes to confirm, they are making more work for themselves and the other mods. If they don't provide information as to why the thread was not allowed, another similar thread or two or three may pop up. They will have to then delete these also leaving more questions unanswered. That extra work could have been avoided had they provided a reason why the first thread was closed.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it does.

When I was an Admin it didn't. Anyway with the size of this forum, I would bet the thread makes up .000001% of the database.

Even though thats a small percentage of space, its still space. Why waste it?

Well now more space is wasted because this thread would not be necessary had the original thread been locked/closed and a reason given to me or the board as to why the thread was not appropriate.

Or you could have not started at topic and PM'ed a mod.

I already PM'ed a mod before I started this topic. I wouldn't have needed to PM a mod, nor start a topic if they had sent me a PM when they deleted the thread.

I'm just looking for someone to answer my question.

I'm pretty sure SOB threads are now banned because almost all of them have been removed by now.

Seems likely. Because every SOB topic turnes into "Burnz itz down!?!? LOLZZZZ!?"

And "i herd from teh dippin dotz guy dat sob will open next year becuz teh sob staf was fird lulz"

Topics being locked, moved or removed have that particular course of action taken for different reasons.

Topics that are moved are placed into areas that are more appropriate so they can more easily be found and to avoid confusion.

Topics that are locked are locked because they have run their course, have become irrelevant or have become irreversibly off topic.

Topics are removed when information in them is misleading, inaccurate or possibly damaging to Kings Island, Cedar Fair, KIC or any other party.

The unfortunate downside to being a mod or admin on a site like this is that you have to make decisions of this nature on a daily basis. Typically people are pretty understanding of the fact that when a joke topic, as the one Dan made, is posted sometimes it can cause damage. Under circumstances like that we do not typically send out PMs. PMs are typically only sent out as a warning when someone directly violates the terms of service.

You're right. As I stated in another thread a few weeks ago, the SOB stuff was getting out of hand so it will have to be removed. Once the park has an official statement, we'll certainly let everyone know. Until then it's a little pointless for people posting that it's still closed every day. We knew that. :D
