Diamond back restraint system

Well yes, I know it is real real safe, but the thing that bothers me as I said, is people always saying, "Oh my gosh, I almost fell out of my seat!" That scares the CRAP out of me. It does look like a ton of fun and I want to ride it but I'm afraid I'm going to have a panic attack like I did on The Beast the first time I rode it. I get HUGE nose bleeds when I have panic attacks. If I had a panic attack on The Beast it will most likely be worse on DB. XD I actually nearly had a panic attack looking at. But then again I'm in love with The Beast now.

Something to remember. People LOVE to over dramatize things. Telling your friends that you "almost" fell out of your seat makes it seem like the ride is life or death. That gives some people a sense of thrill that isn't really there. Just like the people walking through the park almost bragging about the 2386 people that have died on Son of Beast. They like to make it sound like the ride might kill you, and by them riding it, it makes them extremely brave or something.

Use your own judgment, if you are nervous about riding, then you should wait. Do not take other peoples trash talking, and scare tactics in to account before you ride. Some people just get kicks out of trying to scare other people, and make themselves seem braver than they are.

Whales_Rock, have you ridden Drop Tower?

Everyone's different, but... I have such a profound respect for gravity (translation: afraid of heights) that I get almost paralyzed on Drop Tower near the top. Not having anything beneath me like that sends me into a psychological whirlwind. I'll go so far as to say I hate the ride up. However the ride down is worth the agony on the way up.

In my opinion, if you can handle Drop Tower, then you can handle anything, including DB. Tell the ride op to staple you into your seat if you need to, or do it yourself, as an added measure of reassurance. It is true there are places where you float up and the ONLY thing keeping you in is that clamshell restraint. But rest assured if I can handle it, anyone can ;)

Does the resratint on Diamondback scare the crap out of anyone except me.lol. when sitting in the front seat .it's just worrying that there is no belt to hold the lapbar place if the main system should fail. though Im sure there are redundant systems probably. But i guess that adds to thrill factor as you come down the hill and leaning directly into the bar.haha. awesome ride though.

i love it when i first rode it i really wasn't worried but my friend was like this things doesn't have any belts so as we were going up the lift hill he started crying like really but after the ride was over he was like thats the best ride ever

^ Too Afraid to ride it XD. And yeah, I'm mostly worried about the panic attacks now. I don't think I'm going to ride it this season, though its tempting

I admit I had a pretty nasty panic attack the first time I rode it, although it wasn't so much because of the restraints it was more to do with my HUGE fear of heights. I still get a bit of the panicked feeling when I make it to the platform, but between the angle of the seat and stapling myself in (yeah, yeah) together with a deep breath I'm usually good to go. I sometimes even feel safer on the ride than I do driving up 71 to get to the park! I'm still working on keeping my eyes open while going up the lift hill though...

You'll ride it if/when you're ready to... just wanted to mention someone else gets those feelings too and survived (and LOVES it - at this point the fear is part of the fun for me). :)

Last night we got row 15... I don't think I stopped giggling the entire ride! So much fun! One of my friends summed it up best when she saw our picture, "That is a look of pure joy on my face!"

This is ridiculous. No one will fall out on DB. My gosh, you don't need to make so many posts over something that's ridiculous. You don't have to ride it.

Well, some people really want to know other people's opinions to make them feel confident in themselves to ride it - like me. I need MORE confidence!!!

I feel safe on every single ride that I ride at all the major theme parks but you think most people woudl be more afraid of the Intmain T restraints since someone did fall out of one of those before. No one has and chances are no one ever one fall out of Diamondback as long as the manufactor guidelines are followed. Kings Island has a very good safety record and nothing should you leave to beleive anything else besides Son of Beast but the park is taking the proper measure to fix that issue. Some of the hills on Diamondback may make you feel like your going to fly right out of the seat yes but B&M the great engineers they are keep every single water dummy and human in tight even though it may not seem like it. PS the clam sheel restraints have been around awhile now and no one has fallen out yet.

Wow after reading those pages I hope they DONT add seat belts. I wander what you guys would of done I don't know lets say before seat belts were added too The Beast,Vortex,SOB,TopGun,Racers,AE,DZ(im pretty sure they didn't have seat belts when it first open in 2001),FOF(over the head restraints) Im sure theres more, sorry its been a busy morning here at my home.

Don't let fear control you. How else are you going to do some wild and crazy things in life? You shouldn't be scared that the restraint system is going to fail. You even know what the odds are for that? I don't know the exact number but in the past 10 years I really wander how many times has a restraint failed on a park guest. I would actually bet on less then 10. If the park thought that there was any chance of you falling out they wouldn't open the ride up at all.

Also there's sooo many fail-safe programs and gadgets on a roller coaster. Next time you go to KI, I want you too put fear behind you! Ride! You can close your eyes, But hey at least you didn't let fear control you from riding the ride.

This is why I haven't riden Diamondback yet- Too afraid of the seat restraints. They scare the living crap out of me too XD. I dont see haow putting a wad of plastic in between your legs helps you not flip forward. It especially frigthens me since I'm real short and tiny. I also am real afraid that the thing is going to unlock. I'd also prefer some SIDES on the trains. Plus I'd also feel more safe if there was a belt. And another fact that scares me is how "free" you are. That just scares me even more, plus the first drop "Leaning your face into the seat" would literally give me a heart attack. Or I'd just black out. When I just LOOKED at it the lat time I went I nearly had a heart attack my heart was beating so fast.

From the sound of it, you must have a hard time getting out of your car in the parking lot! :P

The lap restraint will follow your lap down into the elevated, reclined seat, so that even if you're small framed, you won't slip out -- well you could, but it would take multiple fractures of both your femurs to do it, and that's not likely to happen on this ride.

Maybe on Son of Beast, tho'... <_<

Dude that made me laugh and think at the same time that it was a DB comment.....

Diamondback is tons of fun but I don't ride it much because I hate the airtime and me thinking I'll fall out - everyone has to do it even if they're afraid. I did it, had fun, but was too afraid to ride it again.

You said you were afraid before, right? What were the seats like?
