Lines on Fridays

Earlier in the season when we had all of those bad storms, Fridays were extremely dead until 4 or so and even after that the park didn't get too terrable.

I assume that now since business has picked up, they're pretty busy on Fridays. It says in an earlier post that Aug 8th is Bring a Fried Free day..avoid that at ALL costs. It's not worth the walk from your car to the front gates. The park is insanely crowded and you'll have to wait in extremely long lines even for the smallest attractions.

My family & I had the Friday August 8th (and Thurs. Aug.7th) planned for well over a month...got the days off, booked a cabin. (We live about 4 hours away.) It wasn't until recently that PKI added the bring a friend day. 5 of us have gold passes...6 of us don't...luckily the othe 6 didn't have tickets yet...so there is a little bright side...but I hope it will not be as busy as some of you are guessing...I can hope I guess.

Well actually Friday's have been busy.. at least revune making wise. The park seems to make more money on fridays and saturdays still then any other day.

Now for August 8th. It is bring a friend free day. It most likely will be insanely packed, at least in the afternoon. Think, its a Friday... people are just getting out of work for the weekend.... people who are in summer school will be ready for the weekend.... they get in free anyways.... its friday.... Now unless it poors that day, you can guarentee it will be crowded. The park thinks they can make up for it by staying open till midnight... that just gives you more time to stand in the same line.

Bring a Friend free days are horrible. Last time I went, (June 5th) I rode 2 rides, and I cutted on 1 of them. Face Off and Backwards Racer. I was there from noon til closing. I came right after school and was disappointed. The man that works there estimated over 80,000 people on Bring a Friend Free Day.

Well...hoping didn't help...as many of you warned, Bring A Friend Day Friday turned out to be a disaster. (Not that we had any choice to change our plans anyway.) I am by far an expert, (I live over 3 hours away.) but I have never seen it so crowded. Lines for old rides were even long. Flight of Fear was 2 hours at one point...and this is the first time in many many years that I have seen the cue houses on The Racer used. (A side not to The Racer...it didn't race MOST of the time on Thursday [when it was slower] but it DID race most of the time on Friday!...so much for some people's theory that it doesn't usually race in order to get more people through...if it can race on this day, it should be able to race anytime both trains are open.) Anyway, having 6 kids with us on Friday was no picnic...they got spoiled on Thursday and couldn't grasp how the lines could get this bad in one day. In order to avoid waiting in huge lines, we basically hit small rides most of the time...then went to the waterpark.

Another interesting side note, the line for Delirium (Which IS a great ride, I loved it.) never seemed to get real long (at least whenever we went by.) I never saw it look over an hour wait. (That's also why I was so amazed by older rides having such huge waits.)

Next year we will not even bother going if they throw another Bring A Friend Day on a day we have scheduled to go.

Delirium probably had a long line, you just didn't notice it for the crowd. We had bike racks set up to curve out along the fence, so what might have looked like people watching the line from the fence was the line. I know it got up to the Age and Weight game a few times, but mostly on Saturday (whiched seemed busier than Friday although we had less people in the park?).

Friday wasn't as bad as I thought it would be though and I think we were actually under our estimate. All in all it was a good day, though.
