CedarPointer Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 As we all know, KI has posted "downtown" instead of "downtime" in regards to The Crypt. Now, this could just be a typo. But, I think it actually is a reference to Manhattan Express, which is at the New York New York Hotel and Casino, which is themed to a downtown. Obviously, KI is hinting that we will receive a rollercoaster similar to theirs- a TOGO standup as a replacement for King Cobra! Aren't ya'all glad I'm so smart? (and yes, I don't seriously believe that we're getting a standup... lol.)
The Interpreter Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 I must admit this preposterous idea makes no less sense than moving Demon Drop to Knott's Berry Farm did...
Beast1979 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Calm down, take a deep breath, it was just a typo. Kings Island hasn't been that good at marketing in years.
The Interpreter Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 The same exact typo in totally different settings twice? It may have been the inadvertent use of the wrong word, but it was not a typo...Besides, typos stem from misapplication of the fingers...and downtime and downtown are not that similar in keyboarding or typing...
Beast1979 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 So what? It was on purpouse? I have a hard time believing that.
The Interpreter Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 As I have stated in other threads, I believe the most likely culprit is misapplication of SpellCheck. Downtime is probably not in the user's dictionary...and downtown is...
shark6495 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 If you play with Spell check and type in dowtome the top choice is downtime and the second choice? downtown...... terpy for the win?
Beast1979 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Well if it means less rumor threads and hooblah on these boards I'll personally invest in a new spell check for Kings Island. And if it STILL says "Downtown" then I'll admit something is being said there.
dr_humor Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Where is this posted? (the "downtown" bit)
Thrill_Biscuit Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Ingenious, but likely only a typo. Ah, typos... Not as inherently funny as a certain, Australian-themed steak restaurant who went to print with an ad inviting guests to enjoy a juicy steak with "Out House Sauce." Tasty! Ok, the t and r keys are right next to each other, but oh, so vast a difference one letter can make!
jzarley Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 If we were talking about Holiday World here, I could definitely believe that Paula Werne put in a little witty blog tease disguised as a typo... In this case, however, I'm willing to bet we're just talking about a typo.
coaster_junky Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 wow, what a great logic. if only togo wasn't defunct, it could be plausible.
mtl2013 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 I highly doubt that we will get a new standup, probably just a typo. But I like the way you think. haha
Diamondback FOF Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 The same exact typo in totally different settings twice? It may have been the inadvertent use of the wrong word, but it was not a typo...Besides, typos stem from misapplication of the fingers...and downtime and downtown are not that similar in keyboarding or typing... Well, considering it was the same quote, only one quote had a single sentence stating the fact, and the other quote had two sentences, it was probably a mistake the first time, and just an accident the second time.
Aaron88stang Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Where is this quote from and what is the quote exactly?
Diamondback FOF Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 I have quoted the quotes: Q: Brian Krosnick wants to know if there are any immediate or long-range plans for The Crypt, or is the goal right now just to keep it up and running. He would also like to know when the 2010 park map will be available on our website. A: An adjustment was made to the ride program for The Crypt last year that accounted for an increase in ridership of 91,987 over the previous year and more than 100 hours less of downtown. There are fans of the ride that miss the original program, but the adjustment that was made enhanced the ride's performance. The adjustment to the Crypt ride program for the 2009 season accounted for an increase in ridership of 91,987 from the previous year. The ride also had 100 hours less downtown than the previous year. (emphasis added to both) http://kingsislandin...up-in-2009.html

But being that it is in 2 different places, 2 different times, worded 2 different ways, it does seem a little fishy. Maybe reading too much into it but it does make you wonder.
Colonel_SoB_fan Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 definitely reading too much into it, it was just a mistake
Diamondback FOF Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 ^^I see it being the quote was copied an pasted from the original, and then changed slightly for the second time, so it wasn't completely the same. If the mistake was missed the first time, or it was a spellcheck mistake the first time, and it was copied for the second one, then it was an easy accident the second time. ^I agree. Definitely not a hint or anything of the sort.
gigacoaster2k Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Maybe Crypt is getting a downtown theme? It would be cool to see Manhattan scenery inside the building, but then again, it might hurt to get hit in the face with coins instead of water. XD
McSalsa Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Maybe Crypt is getting a downtown theme? It would be cool to see Manhattan scenery inside the building, but then again, it might hurt to get hit in the face with coins instead of water. XD Crypt flips over to do the "Water Drop"...: McSalsa: Here it comes...OH @^!^!!! Billions of Quarters fall from the ceiling and kill McSalsa and all other riders. Familes sue. KI pays for lawsuits using said quarters. (The above was a joke!) As for getting a TOGO Standup, it's probably not happening...since TOGO went out of business and I don't see one of them getting dis-assembled for movement.
SOB_TOM Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Are we seriously discussing TOGO, and not only TOGO, but two misprints that give the "hint" to a TOGO? Ya'all (and yes, I AM allowed to say that, natural born KY here) need something to do in the offseasons.

KIfan73 Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I'm sure it was a simple togo in both articles...
Cory Butcher Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Is this topic really two pages long (27 posts)? Wow, I can't believe I'm adding this comment...
SOB_TOM Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Listen to the pronunciation: Ya-All. Technically it is two A's back to back. And yes, I know about Giga's first post, but there are some people posting some serious remarks about a spell check error....
jzarley Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 This thread has had quite the life for what CedarPointer intended as a joke (Bravo, CedarPointer! )
