TheSonofBeast
I was at the park sunday and to my delight the lines were almost nonexistant. Needless to say, i noticed something peculiar as opposed to previous visits when the park does not close at its normal time (10PM). On almost every other visit, around 5pm they have the announcements state that the park closes at 8pm, along with having the ride ops occasionally mention that they close at 8 to exiting riders, as well... I didn't hear a single peep that the park closed at 8pm, even once it closed. They didn't even have it on the little signs as you go past the entrance gates saying park closed... I did finally hear something over the announcements but that wasnt until about 810 as i was walking out. It seems like this was overlooked for some reason... Most people knew it closed but there were quite a few who were confused and agitated that the park closed at 8.
HTCO
I'm sorry to hear about that. Usually they do a good job at telling people and remind everyone it closes. Maybe you should check out the parks hours before you take your trip. http://www.visitkingsisland.com/public/visit/hours/index.cfm
BavarianBeatle
The message boards outside the entrance said the park closed at 8 and it has been on the park map/schedule since it was released online. Imo, if employees constantly reminded me of closing time all day, it would give the impression that they were impatiently wanting to get rid of the guests. I dont think they did it EVERY time, just every 15 minutes or so on a random train. id hear it every few rides or so past 5pm.
CoastersRZ
I will often remind guests at Coney when the park closes, especially if it is a busy day. The reasoning behind reminding them when the park closes from my viewpoint is twofold. First, some people may not know what time it is, and I`d be able to tell them. Secondly, it allows them to plan out what rides they want to hit. On busy days, certain rides at Coney can have rather long lines, especially low capacity rides like the Ferris Wheel. And I would say that I certainly am not looking to get ride of the guests. In fact, working the Ferris Wheel as often as I do, I typically am one of the last people to clock out in the rides department at Coney. DaveStroem
I must have heard that the park was closing at 8:00 PM at least 10 times if not more.
BavarianBeatle
Also, if you take a ride up the Eiffel Tower (as I encourage everyone to do on every visit possible), they always tell you on the trip down what time the park closes and whether there will be fireworks. But i still cant believe i didnt hear it one time, at all... Others claim they heard it and i dont doubt them. Maybe it was just extremely bad timing, but at least more than a few people werent informing guests, and i definitely did not hear a PA announcement until after the park closed for a good ten minutes or so... chaddie
The hours are on the website, on the scrolling sign outside the metal detectors and on the big marque sign out front. At some point, a guest needs to open their eyes and pay attention.

KIfan1980
Most people knew it closed but there were quite a few who were confused and agitated that the park closed at 8. The message boards outside the entrance said the park closed at 8 and it has been on the park map/schedule since it was released online. At one point in time when the park schedule for 2010 was first released online, Sunday the 23rd did show a 10pm closing (and Sunday the 30th showed 8pm - it is now 10pm). That said, it is unlikely that anybody who was surprised at 8pm last Sunday saw this - and I would agree that people should be more aware. Also, to get agitated over this is kind of silly.
