8 Abandoned American Theme Parks Open For Exploration

It always interests me when I see pictures of these. It just brings to life the harsh reality of the times. Some of those wooden coasters are pretty cool, even in death. I always imagine The Beast rotting away, trees covering it, but still present.

I thought the pictures of Six Flags New Orleans and Rocky Point are the ones that break my heart the most. Those pictures of "Jazzland" are really cool and super creepy! It could totally pass for being "haunted"! I do, however, hope that gets up and running again. smile.gif

From the article Terpy posted in post #1:

Amusement parks walk the fine line between fun-ish and semi-creepy. Maybe it's the combination of sketchy rides, circus folk, questionable attractions, and way too many screaming kids, but there's something a little unsettling about them.

What parks has the author been frequenting? None of the ones I've been going to! laugh.gif Although I imagine that if you're not a fan of rides, you could have this opinion...

EDIT: Actually, I can think of one park I've been to like that. My one and only trip to Lesourdsville Lake, the one year it reopened. *shudder*

You would think that theme parks with some history would be protected unless there are some that are.

Like the nu pike back in long beach calf that closed in 1979.It has some history with it come good or bad.The cyclone racer was a big draw at the pike.It was right on the beach. The double ferris wheel.Laff in the dark fun house that later on was found to have a real dead person in it.The rotor was pretty good back then as well as the house of glass.I know it would never be the same, but i wish they would rebuild it and bring back some of the things that made it nice.Rip pike.I still love knotts and magic mountain.hope we never lose them.
