Pillsberry123 Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Did you forget the comments about there being more to thrill rides than roller coasters, and that it will appeal to teens? ^ I don't see how a new coaster doesn't appeal to teens. Just because Dick Kinzel said that there's more to thrill rides than roller coasters doesn't mean that it won't be a coaster. If I'm correct, he said that the new 2010 ride "won't get you wet." Of course he meant that "It won't get you wet, it will get you soaked." It could very well be another one of those statements where he means the complete opposite of what he says... ...Look at the times he's said that he will retire, yet it doesn't look like it's going to happen anytime soon. Did you forget that was tweeted? And CP was throwing out clues just to mess with people at that point. You all want a coaster so you make yourself think it will be. Quote

I don't know, the evidence is pointing at a coaster at the moment. You can't take everything that Dick Kinzel says by heart. Again, he said that the 2010 addiction "Won't get you wet." Either way, there are markings in that area and flags around Ocean Motion that extend out into the beach. I say that there's a 70% chance for a new coaster in 2011. Browntggrr Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Did you forget the comments about there being more to thrill rides than roller coasters, and that it will appeal to teens? ^ Did you forget that hints and clues are just hints and clues. If they came out with the actual exact information, they would not be hints and clues anymore, just the announcement of the actual ride. What is the fun in that? Quote
The Interpreter Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 I think you meant: Where is the FUN in that? Wasn't that really your Q? Quote
GrandsonofBeast Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Cedar Fair has registered "Stratosoar" with US patents and trademarks. That sounds like a killer name for a huge Star Flyer! Quote
GrandsonofBeast Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 There's an ungoing discussion going on at Pbuzz. Lots of people saw the link on the US patent site, which is now MIA. There are other sites confirming it as well....http://newsplusnotes.blogspot.com/2010/08/all-way-up-into-stratosoar.html EDIT Here is the LINK Quote
PhantomTheater Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Stratosoar? Really, that is the name of a ride at one of 11 CF parks? I don't like it. Quote

I'm wondering if the "Strata" portion of the name would refer to the height? (a la Strata Coaster = 400') A 400' Star Flyer? It seems to fit with most of Dick's clues... Interesting. Quote
Pillsberry123 Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I personally don't like the name at all, nor do I see it "appealing to the teenage market". A kiddie coaster for the Valleyfair expansion? At least I hope so... Quote
HTCO Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 The teen market won't care what you name it. As long as its big and exciting the teen market will love it. I know this for a fact Quote
CincyMan98 Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Hm. The whole "Strata" thing is weird. Why would a coaster be named Strata, dot dot dot, and not be a strata coaster? I doubt Cedar Point would build another over 400 foot ride though. Too much! Quote
The Interpreter Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Someone needs to go look at Star Flyers... http://www.funtime.com.au/data/index2.htm Quote
HTCO Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Hm... It says the maximum hight is 96 meters which according to Google is 314.96063 feet. Quote
CincyMan98 Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Millennium Force 2: Five Feet Higher Edit: I thought we were talking about a coaster here! Quote
The Interpreter Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Hm... It says the maximum hight is 96 meters which according to Google is 314.96063 feet. Keep reading: http://www.funtime.com.au/data/vienna.html Quote
HTCO Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 I see it now. New 117m model which is 383.86 feet. Quote
The Interpreter Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Add just a few more and yet another record breaking ride for Mr. Kinzel's favorite amusement crown jewel park? Quote
Monroe Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 And how many times did you bite on the APPLE Terpy was feeding you? (I thought it was punny) Quote
The Interpreter Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 If you say anything about the core, I'm gonna smack you. I will, you know. Quote
coaster_junky Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 lol, so did Cedar Point ever have a star flyer? Quote
Monroe Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 His apple only shows one bite taken out so I think I'm safe from the seeds of distruction. Quote
LongliveKingsCobra Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 That thing, looks...scary, and quite amazing. Quote
Go Browns Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 lol, so did Cedar Point ever have a star flyer? Nope but the park did have one of these on the beach at one point in time. Quote
HTCO Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Mystery solved. And yes, I took one to many bites from the apple. Quote
Pillsberry123 Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Hmm, this would work for just about everything Dick Kenzel has said... A ride like that would appeal to the teen market (despite the fact that the name is as awful as sin), it brings back memories (to an extent), and it would be considered a thrill ride. Would it fit in the area of the park where all of the construction markets are? Yes. I could see this happening. Quote
kjkjkj Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 That ride looks pretty intense! Especially being that high up in the air! Quote
