Goog Golly Miss Molly! (Haha I have always wanted to say that and it actually works here). Do what Purple Haze said before, in the last thread inwhcih you posted the exact same question to do.

CONTACT The park.

But if you are going to by Season Passes for the rest of thsi year, and are only going back twice, why don't you just purchase tickets?

We are 8 hours away and plan to go for 3-4 days so the season pass would save us money from what I understood. I was asking questions here because I was under the impression that you could do that on forums. I ask the question in a second post because I figured someone may know the answer who had not read the first post and since the question was ask in a reply I though it woud be best to ask it in a seperate post. My bad - I just didn't want to make the long distance call.

SOME people get upset here, Miss Molly. The rest of us like to help. I don't know what the cost of a ticket to Halloween Haunt is going for this year, but you might be able to find it at http://www.visitkingsisland.com. Then you could do some math and see if a season pass makes sense for your situation. Next year, watch for the Gold Pass window of opportunity and snag it as it is a great deal even if you only visit the park twice. Have a great day and welcome to the forum!

All of us like to help Sir. We don't need a bunch of threads about the same question. That is why we say, you already asked this?

No, I don't think ALL of us do. Most, yep. All? Not hardly.

Regardless, if her relatively simple question had been answered in the other thread she wouldn't have posted it twice. Given that most of us, including myself, have used this board for information that I would hope experienced park veterans would be willing and able to share. Questions about Gold, Season, and regular tickets seems pretty simple to me and had I gotten to the thread sooner I would have answered her question satisfactorily. The point is we should welcome our new members with polite greetings and not by yelling at them for breaking the rules. Right?

kirk, she's not a new member, she joined april 4, '04, purplehaze told her in both threads that for the most up-to-date information to contact the park. :)

If you don't have an answer to someone's question, don't condescend to them and tell them to call the park. Just don't reply. Seems reasonable to me.

OK OK. I guess I'm just having flashbacks to an early post I made where I was trying to give some first hand observations and apparently put it in the "wrong forum" and was told I should watch it because people don't like it when people don't follow the rules. It made me feel unwelcome; fortunately, I've never been much to care what people think if I don't think I've done something wrong so I'm still here. But who knows what other innocent folks have been run off by the way we treat people on here sometimes.

I'm really not trying to pick a fight here. I just want people to feel welcome so we can have more great things to read - especially since the season is wrapping up and I'm going to be bored and having KI withdrawals! :)

To be fair, there have been instances in the past here when posters have been given incorrect information by other posters and the park has not been amused. Before your arrival, posters here were at one time lectured not to give out information on behalf of the park, but to direct such questions to the park. Purplehaze was here then, and remembers it well.

That era seems largely to have passed....

And in the case here, it was later discovered that Miss Molly's inquiry had an answer on the park's own website.

Moving merrily along....

Terp, somewhat a historian of this place (and one who tries to help any way he can...)

^^^i agree with your last sentence completely, and i'm sorry that, that happened to you when you first joined, however, i do agree with purplehaze's approach to the situation, instead of risking providing false information to missmolly, plus whoever comes to the site and views this topic later, both parties will now be able to know that they have the park's official word, rather than some random person on a Kings Island fan site*.

*(not meant to be taken in a derogatory fashion purplehaze, sorry if it came across that way.)

edit: terpy kind of beat me to it. :)

Teachable moment?

That makes two of us. Not saying anyone in this thread has done anything wrong (no one has), but one of the reasons I long prefered KIExtreme to KICentral was that, despite being a smaller community (and one that is frequented by small post counts) I never felt "stupid." You'll notice that I "joined" five years ago (just like Miss Molly), though my post count doesn't reflect that. It's because, every time I decided to post here, for the first 100 posts or so, everyone most people some people treated me like I had no idea what I was talking about and I was useless. My post quality has remained the same; only my quantity has increased. And now, I'm no longer treated like an idiot (and a few lost souls out there may actually respect some of the things I have to say). So was it just because I was new? Not fair, and not conducive to creating a lively, fresh, interesting discussion board.

There are little details that simply come with time as you grow and adapt to a new board - for example, if Miss Molly hangs around til she gets 500 posts, her topic titles will not be as long; she will bump a thread instead of starting a new one; these are things that one must learn (and be taught) and do not come naturally. I plead with you all to be accepting of new members and to try to make them feel welcome. Everyone (yes, everyone) started with 1 post. And how different would this place be had The Interpreter, or coaster_junky, or CincyMan98, or Beast1979, or standbyme been so offended by their intial treatment, that they did not return? Who knows if we've lost incredible contributors just because we were not welcoming? It's a shame...

To answer your question (as others have, but I'll verify), yes, your pass will get you into Halloween Haunt. At Kings Island, the Halloween event is not a separately ticketed event - you can come during the day, and stay into the evening when the "festivities" begin at no extra charge. Not all Cedar Fair parks offer that, but Kings Island's does.

Not everyone treated you like an idiot or as if you were useless. Please don't overgeneralize! :)

Edit: I see you have now edited to say most. I hope I was not a jerk at the time, but I can be acerbic with friends, who sometimes don't realize I was ribbing them! :)

EDIT TWO: Now you say some people....Can you please stop being so darn nice? Terp...half kidding!

I really am super happy to be part of this site. I've largely felt welcomed and appreciated and wanted and am so grateful for the things I've learned and the discourse we have here. So, let me just say to PurpleHaze and everyone else: thank you! Thank you for helping me feed my new found of love Kings Island.

Purp, let me personally apologize as I was not meaning to make you feel called out or insulted or anything else. Thanks to Terp for giving me more insight and thanks to everyone else for just being awesome. Really.

Can't we all just get along? :-)

Why thanks for the kind words Interpreter. I try to keep things moderated around here. I haven`t been on the site much lately, with working my two jobs (one full time and my part time weekend gig at Coney Island). They keep me pretty busy (I`ve been working about sixty to sixty two hours a week, and have only had ONE day off (July 5) since May 24th!

I, too, love this place. I don't know that I've ever met any of you (though I have seen many of you, and know exactly who you are... A bit frightening for you, eh?) but there's obviously a connection between us all. Yes, Kings Island... But so much more. Who do I run back to after a trip to an amusement park, ready to share photos, videos, stories, opinions, and debates? You all. Everyone here is great. Some people (myself included) act curmudgeonly at times. Such is life!

In the end, we are all friends, united by a common interest, and constantly finding connections we never knew we had, far outside the amusement park industry. Keep it up, and have a mind and heart open to welcoming new thoughts, opinion, and people into our family!

So long story short, thanks everyone here, and a happy welcome to Miss Molly! Come and smell the funnel cakes... er... have fun!... and only... where else?

Coney sells funnel cakes from the building right next to the Ferris Wheel. Many times after a long day the aroma of funnel cakes can be smelled at the Ferris Wheel. I have never once bought a funnel cake at Coney, but the aroma is so enticing! (Unfortunately the stand is typically closed before the rides close...)

yes, coastersrz, i have to applaud you that even with all of that work and the doubtless amount of stress it gives you, you still manage to help out with this site, as well as coneyislandcentral. :)

...and thanks so much for the shout out goodyellowkorn. :)

edit: just noticed my spell check inserted redoubtable, for a word i made up. :P

Well, I have a passion for amusement parks. And I love the history of these places. I am one of the few ride operators at Coney that knows the rich history of the park and its past and current rides. That is part of the reason I enjoy working there. The money is secondary. I don`t HAVE to work at Coney, but do it because I enjoy it. The day I do not look forward to going into work at Coney is the day that I know my time has come to move on. I am in my ninth season in the rides department at Coney, and now officially the person with the longest tenure in the department. One of the rides managers (who was really part time the last few years only working a total of about ten days all season) started a new full time job elsewhere. He began working at Coney Island in rides in 1991!!

I don`t mean to hijack this thread though.

And to be fair, at one point in time, I thought that the park had said that only Gold and Platinum Pass holders were going to gain free admission to Halloween Haunt. But as is often the case, pricing and policies are always subject to change.

I believe it was last year when they first said only gold and platinum passholders would get free admission to the Kings Island boo events. Later in the year, they relented. Interestingly, many if not all of the season pass cards still indicate that such admission is not included with the passes, regardless of type. And some parks, like Knott's Berry Farm, do charge for admission to their boo events (they would want me to say their event names, but I'm funny about stuff like that, sometimes.)

The next-to-last question. :) Admission to Haunt being free only for Gold & Platinum passes makes sense... But at the same time, Halloween Haunt is really just an "extended" public operating day. I can see why they attempted to promote that it was only for Gold & above last year, since that's the year that they toyed with the "you must exit the park between 5:00PM and 6:00PM and then re-enter separately for Haunt." That would've made it, in some regards, a separately ticketed event. It did not happen.
