Jasper
What is that building at the end of the midway where the entrance/exit to Action Theatre would be today?
Delirium13
If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, that is just Vortex's Station/Queue building.
Jasper
No, to the left, between Vortex Gear and the Station.
Delirium13
I think that's the restrooms isn't it?
CoastersRZ
Yes, that is the restroom building. And yes, Coney Cafe is the present location of Jukebox Diner.

Delirium13
^Thank you for that! I miss Phantom Theater so much! It was truly a great dark ride with proper animatronics and props, as opposed to the cardboard cut-outs that currently reside in that building. Jasper
Man how I remember those days of riding Phantom Theater, Maestro, the Boiler Room guys, Houdini, Helga, and etc.
THE_BEASTmaster
Hey, TOPGUN1993, do you have photos of the House of Cards featuring Yogi Bear as the King of Hearts and the puppet theater?
TOPGUN1993
Photo 46 I've only seen house of cards (Fool House) on park maps, I don't think it lasted long.
standbyme
^Truly a different time period. I can never see a white belt without thinking of Herb Tarlek from "WKRP In Cincinnati"...maybe the character's backstory was that he worked at the park before the radio station and kept the belt! Jasper
Alright I hate to be that guy again, but can someone tell me where this was and what exactly it was?
McSalsa
I shall contribute with one of my favorite classic KI photos. This was sometime between 1980-1986. It shows the entire layout of The Beast. If you have never seen the entire layout from an aerial photo, this may shock and suprise you with the coaster's huge size. Note the construction going on where Vortex is today, I am not sure what it is for, but know it was for either The Bat or Vortex. I am guessing this picture might have been taken in 1980, when Beast was only 1 year old, so my guess is it's The Bat. If you look really hard, you can see the Keenton's Cove Keelboat Canal and Flying Eagles in this picture as well. I originally found this photo here, it's not mine: http://www.rollercoasterphilosophy.com/2009/beast-30-analysis/ (Great review of the coaster too!) Enjoy the pic. THE_BEASTmaster
Alright I hate to be that guy again, but can someone tell me where this was and what exactly it was? That is the puppet theater that was located in Hanna Barbara Land. It was added in the mid-80's I believe. Where was it located at in HB-Land? I can't remember that either. If you look at the 1989 map and index, it's #160, Woodlands Ampitheatre. THE_BEASTmaster
Here's a commercial for Vortex when it first opened to the public. Hopefully no one had already posted it. I didn't see it at all unless I missed it in this thread.

I don't think it was 1980 because if you notice the second tunnel is completely enclosed and not two separate tunnels.
Guest TombraiderTy
^I believe the two tunnels were joined into one in 1980.

jandyb79
Very neat! I love blue prints of coasters/attractions (and vintage toys). I can't imagine the Tower being built at Coney Island - the original site planned. It would've looked a little weird, in my opinion.
thatbandguy8807
^ I agree...I always try to make a trip up the tower every time I go to the park just to take in the view.....cant imagine KI never having it

The Interpreter
The Flying Eagles were not moved to the back of the park until 1986, so it appears the picture could not be from before then...
