CoastersRZ Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Because in 1986, The Bat was gone and The Vortex was not yet built. In short, it is very likely that picture was taken in 1986. An interesting thing to note with that Eiffel Tower diagram is that it lists the upper deck platform at 264' and the lower one at 252'. If I`m not mistaken, the elevator operators generally refer to the two platform levels as 275' and 265'. Quote
The Interpreter Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Bat was removed....Vortex went in in 1987....so yep, that picture MUST be from '86... Quote

I am proudly a 5'9 individual today, but the High School basketball programs billed me as 5'10 or maybe even 5'11. Quote

lebeau Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Photo 44 Gulliver's Hey... This must be the attraction that's being announced this friday!! Great find. That would be so awesome! I used to love Gulliver's. Next to Enchanted Voyage, it was my favorite ride. Quote

standbyme Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 I don't ever think I have seen that painting...that is great! Quote
CoastersRZ Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Gotta love the "Temporarily Closed" sign, old school style! Quote
ParkMake Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 To me that Son of Beast picture is amazing and historic. And that was a fairly good guess with the dinosaur. Quote
CoastersRZ Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 The old WCPO webcam! I take it that it is no longer an active webcam? Quote
CedarPointer Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 I think it's physically still there but not turned on anymore. Quote
CoastersRZ Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 That's a bummer. It would give a nice view of WindSeeker construction! Quote
jandyb79 Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 That's a bummer. It would give a nice view of WindSeeker construction! Maybe this is the "additional webcam" view. Makes sense to use what currently exists rather than put up something new. Quote
rotag Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 i think it would be neat if the webcam worked like holiday worlds where it progressively panned instead of using multiple webcams for viewing. it be nice to see it pan up & down WindSeekers tower. Quote
jdawg1998 Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Let's face it, Kings Island isn't the best with keeping up with webcams....... ...Holiday World has the best ones! Quote
Hendrick Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 I miss that webcam. I actually found the link a few days ago, but as expected, was a 404 error. Here it was. Quote
TOPGUN1993 Posted March 21, 2011 Author Posted March 21, 2011 Photo 39 Imagine waiting in a full queue line or the grand carousel Quote

Jasper Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 I still cannot get over how much it appears that the park has changed. Some of these shots I wouldn't even be able to tell it is KI. Quote
jcgoble3 Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Bonus Photo 36.5 (from KI's Facebook page) Here's what the area where the new 301' tall WindSeeker ride is being built looked like when Kings Island first opened on April 29, 1972. Quote
Jasper Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 That's crazy to think how the Tique's were pretty much at the very back of the park, and now look at what all has developed. Quote
