Thrill_Biscuit Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Ah 1999. The debut of the McDonald's themed coaster. Now that's about the funniest observation I've heard in a long while! Quote
Outdoor Man Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Someone please explain what the chants meant? Was there some sort of sponsorship? WOW!! Now for the first time in my life someone has posted something on this board that made me "feel" old! i will second that. As far as "supressing" goes, I don't remember completely, but on several occasions a few years back I remember people trying to get it started and the ride ops trying to quiet everyone from saying it. Quote
CedarPointer Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 I can't imagine it isn't really annoying for them. And it might lead to those stupid "games" where people try to stand up when their end of the ship is in the air. Quote
standbyme Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 I also like the sign...it might be considered simple by some but I think it has "character". Quote
PhantomTheater Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 The sign fit perfectly in Rivertown, especially for a log ride. Quote
TOPGUN1993 Posted March 30, 2011 Author Posted March 30, 2011 KI&MVRR deserves a sign. The ugly Dippin' Dots Depot sign needs to go. Quote
Beast1979 Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 I've always wondered why Dippin Dots gets a massive, centered and decorated sign, while the train gets but a small "Entrance" sign. I agree, replace the Dippin Dots sign with a decent KIMVRR sign. By the way, thanks for the pictures, Paul! They're really great and it's nice to see them! Quote
CedarPointer Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 I once heard someone call the train the "Dippin' Dots ride". Quote
Jasper Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Tastes great.........less filling! Those truly were the days. Someone took the words right out of my mouth before I got to say them. I remember as a young kid hearing my dad and uncles doing that and I never quite knew what it meant, then I found out. Now everytime I ride VF I try and start the same chant with my friends on the other side of the boat, needless to say no one understands it. Quote
74Gibson Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Thew vintage photography makes KC look a lot like a model. Quote
ParkMake Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Yay! King Cobra without the alternating track. It's a dream come true. Quote
TopThrill Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Thanks for posting all the great pictures of the park, I would like to jump in to a time machine and revisit the park from the '70's. Quote
Pagoda Gift Shop Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 KC had a great color scheme. Wish they would reuse it. Don't seem to be many green coasters these days. Quote
CoastersRZ Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 And soon, we will be able to stand in that spot and see a very different view! Quote
Delirium13 Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Looking at that picture and then looking at the webcam and the difference is amazing, almost unrecognizable. I see that that picture was take when License to Thrill was playing, my first Action Theater movie (unfortunately I missed out on Days of Thunder). I remember after License to Thrill I fell in love with the Theater and made a point to try out the new films at least once, it's a shame that it has been reduced to one side and somewhat of an afterthought. Jasper Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Photo 29 This picture gives us a glimpse of the rare, hard to find pictures of, King Cobra queue line. Quote
TOPGUN1993 Posted April 1, 2011 Author Posted April 1, 2011 And monorail track. Which one crossed through the middle of Adventure Express. Quote
TopThrill Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Photo 28 I remember seeing those pop machines on right had two dollar can's of pop, I thought that was high back then. Now three dollar and higher bottle pop. Quote
markr Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Now you're really getting my dander up Paul reminding me of the removal of one of the most charming rides in the park. Quote
windshawne Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Now you're really getting my dander up Paul reminding me of the removal of one of the most charming rides in the park. I agree. That was a crime. I forgot about the "chant", but I remember it. When I look at KC, all I remember is standing in line and hearing Cindy Lauper's "all through the night". Quote
KIfan73 Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Maybe when they're done with the dinos, they could turn it into a 'tiques path! Quote
ParkMake Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Now THAT, I would pay $5 to ride. I don't know why, it just seems nicer. Quote
Jasper Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 And monorail track. Which one crossed through the middle of Adventure Express. Alright quick question to clear something up. When you are waiting in line for Adventure Express and you look over across the concrete type area and you can see two footers plain as day, are those for the old monorail track or are those the ones that came from King Cobra. I always thought those were for for King Cobra. Quote
