Dvo
If only I had forgone the engineering degree for communications! Doh! j/k. But that would be an amazing job, no doubt about it.
The Interpreter
If it were about seven months from now...but wait... Terp, who borders on saying too much sometimes...
PREMiERdrum
I know a certain someone, who may or may not be a newsroom assignment editor with a Communications and Journalism degree, who is currently in contract negotiations. I love options.
The Interpreter
Gee, how odd...I'm currently in contract negotiations, too...but of a totally different kind. Terp, who says always tell the truth...it will...(well, see what Mark Twain said)
FOFreak
Paula Werne was amazing in the PR field. One of the best! She will be extremely missed by many, including me.
The Interpreter
Missed? She's NOT leaving....She's the big boss, this person will be her helper, assistant and even protege.
CoastersRZ
Not unlike how when David Mandt was at Kings Island, he was the main manager, and Jeff Siebert was technically his assistant.
The Interpreter
And then, when David did leave.... Somewhere in there there is a Barbara Colnar, though (ugh).
IndyGuy4KI
I have almost considered doing this for a park. I actually offered myself to Indiana Beach a few years ago to be their PR department, for they obviously don't have one right now. I am sure my email went to the PR department and was deleted! The Interpreter
At least until very recently, the same outside firm handled much of that function for both Holiday World and Indiana Beach. I will say this much...Robinson...to do more promotes them...
CoastersRZ
Yep, like you mentioned, there are some companies/parks that don`t even have marketing departments. Heck, the place where I work used to have a marketing person and an IT person, and that was all they did. Since the recession hit, both of those positions were eliminated. Now, one of the project managers does the IT, and he is training another person to help with the IT (me), but IT is not the primary job description for either of us... I believe Barbara Colnar was around when the park announced Drop Zone and Face Off in September of 1998. Of course, one would be remiss when talking about KI marketing/PR people if one did not mention the late Ruth Voss.
The Interpreter
...or Carolyn Boos. Ms. Colnar was let go the day before Drop Zone's media day. She was incredulous and astounded (she had previously been let go by Cedar Point and Six Flags Great Adventure, and was at one time an elf at Holiday World, I do believe (as was Janice Witherow-Litke)
FOFreak
Missed? She's NOT leaving....She's the big boss, this person will be her helper, assistant and even protege. Wow, thanks for clearing that up! I was quite saddened for a moment
