CoastersRZ
So does that mean the every day early ride times on Diamondback are no more? I really enjoyed that perk and would be sad to see it gone... Especially since most of my visits were early Saturday or Sunday morning visits. Avatar
I like having the ERT for some rides and for me it is a bit of a challenge to get there early enough to partake of the perk. I believe the early ride time is to entice Gold Pass recipients to return to Kings Island for more visits. Honestly I would rather see the money they spend on ERT staffing and other cost associated to it be put to other marketing enticing activities prompting more visits. Such as Concerts, special activities such as private event for Gold Pass members on select days, current celebrity shows like the Brady Bunch show or Glee appearances. These type of events is what make me want to come more often and even plan visits in advance versus the maybe I will get there for another early ride time of an attraction I have ridden several times already. Again I like ERT but if I got to choose I like special events and not necessary promotional events as of late.
LordSkippy
As much as I am glad to have WindSeeker and Vortex added to the ERT list, if Diamondback and Beast are removed, I will be very disappointed-partly because I'd rather have them instead of WindSeeker and Vortex, and partly because it will become nearly impossible to break last year's personal Diamondback ride count. Oh well, I guess all things must pass.
CoasterFreak45
Wasn't when they started to adverstise the gold passes in the fall, I believe it mentioned Diamondback and The Beast. Can some correct me if i'm wrong?

DropZone99
They never did say Beast and Diamondback aren't on the ERT right? So its still a possibility, but don't get too let down. Maybe we will have Beast, Diamondback, Vortex, and WindSeeker for ERT? That would be great! Definitely spread out the crowds.
Hendrick
By the way, I have to agree with CoasterFreak45, I could of sworn it was advertised as Beast/Diamondback. Anyways, I did find this still, under the season pass FAQ (no promise this simply isn't updated from 2011.) Source My friend is coming to the park with me but they are not a Platinum or Gold passholder. Can they join me when I take advantage of my VIP perks such as early ride times on Diamondback and The Beast? Edit: Found it! Source For just $5 more per pass you’ll be upgraded to Gold Pass status and enjoy a long list of VIP perks including FREE SEASON-LONG PARKING (a $39.99 value per pass!); early rides every public operating day on two of the best roller coasters in the world, The Beast and Diamondback; early entry every public operating day into Boomerang Bay, our splashtacular 15-acre waterpark; free admission to two amazing Halloween events, Halloween Haunt and HOWL-O-FEST; special discounts on select food items, merchandise and more! Go to Cedar Point's ERT Maverick, Millennium Force, Raptor, Iron Dragon. So could we see Diamondback, Beast, Vortex and WindSeeker. Just a Thought . CoastersRZ
Another thing I wouldn`t mind seeing is having some exclusive night ride times. I know Cedar Point has like three nights, where they keep one of their coasters open for like two hours after park closes to allow the pass holders a chance at some evening ert. I wouldn`t mind seeing some of that happen at KI. But then again, there likely are logistical issues to that as well (like clearing the park of guests, etc.
coaster_junky
^they could do like disney does with their extra magic hours. you just have to show an employee your gold pass before getting in line for what ever attraction after closing, no gold pass, no ride. CoastersRZ
But Disney has all the hotels down there, and that is a perk intended to keep more people staying on property. And generally, you should try and AVOID the park that has the extra magic hours. Most resort guests will choose to go to the park with the extra magic hours. And the wait times during extra magic hours can be quite long.
coaster_junky
i went in the middle of the summer in 2009 last, i can say that the lines weren't very bad at all. everything was walk on for us at every park we participated in the extra magic hours at, except for test track, but that's only because it kept breaking down. the crowds weren't that bad either, once the people who didn't stay on property left that is. CoastersRZ
Kings Island actually did do a season pass ride night, way back in 2000 when Son of Beast was new. Back then there were "pawprint" pass holders. (Pass holders that purchased before the end of the 1999 season. They were promised a ride date in early April to ride Son of Beast. When the ride wasn`t ready on time, that date was canceled. Once the ride was up and running, they declared a couple of ride nights in July of that year. They shut the line down to the general public at I think 9 or 9:30. And then the ride was free to pawprint pass holders for two hours. I rode Son of Beast one of those nights nine times in two hours. I wonder now, what I was thinking riding that thing so many times in so short of a time frame!
Snowman
Cut from the e-newsletter: "In addition to WindSeeker, early rides will also be available for Gold Passholders every public operating day on one of the most popular rides in Kings Island history, The Vortex roller coaster! There's also FREE season-long parking, early access to Boomerang Bay, exclusive food and merchandise discount offers, FREE admission to our two popular fall events, Halloween Haunt and Howl-O-Fest, and so much more!" The "among" perks seem to be what is listed in the second sentence. When we got our gold passes last year at the Haunt I thought the ERT's for DB and Beast were part of the promotion of buying Gold passes. This is the main reason we got the passes. This doesn't look good. I just spoke with KI security and was told that no ERT decisions have been made yet. He suggested calling 754 5700 during the week to get more info or put our 2 cents worth in about what we want to see opened for ERT. I'll be on the phone Monday morning! Snowman
So last season there were a number of ERT days that Diamondback was down and the op would say "The Beast is open!" which was great and still provided for a great morning. Now their big prize, an untested, unproven flat ( that isn't exactly something many people will want to do a ERT marathon on in the first place) breaks down, The ride op will get to say "Don't worry, Vortex is open" Woo....HOO!!! The Vortex is usually open with little wait ALL DAY!!!!! Maybe they haven't decided yet...call 754 5700 next week, maybe we can get this point across to KI. The Interpreter
But, but, but...again to be fair...what happened to Flight of Fear after Firehawk opened? Look for Vortex to have much, much longer lines this year....people ride what is close...and Vortex will be close when the WindSeeker line is what they consider to be too long.... Hendrick
Maybe they haven't decided yet...call 754 5700 next week, maybe we can get this point across to KI. Any idea on the area code? I'm really not excited for WindSeeker like the park seems to think everyone should be. And after loosing Beast and Diamondback, it seems like Vortex is a consolation" prize. Maybe I'd go early to ride Vortex once, but nothing like I would of if it was Beast and Diamondback.
