June 10, 201115 yr I noticed Kings Island offers a flash drive for the on ride photos. The sign said that for about thirty buckes, you get to keep 4 of your on ride photos. My question is, do I have to buy it on the first ride, or do I just keep my photo numbers and buy it at the end? The sign, from what I read, isn't clear on the matter. Thanks.
June 10, 201115 yr We bought ours after a trip on The Beast. They put the photo on the drive and give it to you along with a punch card with one hole in it. Every time you want a photo you hand the booth operator the drive and the punch card. They then upload the picture and punch the card. After 4 photos your punch card is done. You cannot use the flash drive for Keyhole photos or the DA photo booth.

It's 20 dollars for the drive which of course is butterfly shaped this comes with your first on ride photo then it is 5 dollars for each additional on ride photo added to it.
June 10, 201115 yr No problem at all. Will ask them today, if you can just buy another punch card. I'm sure you can because the 4 pics shouldn't be that big, lol.
June 10, 201115 yr This is a great idea that I didn't know about until this thread, so thank you. Can this be used for multiple rides, i.e. one picture on The Beast, one on Diamondback, etc.?
June 10, 201115 yr I think what would be better is they let you bring your OWN flash drive and they can put them on for maybe 2 a piece?
June 10, 201115 yr ^ I think you are half kidding with the $2.00 comment...but you do have to realize that when you purchase a photo you are not just paying for the actual picture...the employee's hourly wage and the camera(s) upkeep is a couple of the things figured into the cost. I have stated this before...I think the on-ride photos are one of my favorite park souvenirs...they never fail to bring back a good memory. I think the price is very fair. P.S. Yes I own one of the flash drives!
June 10, 201115 yr Well, yeah, half, but I mean, this is a photo, come on! But I agree with you on that.
June 10, 201115 yr And why, the ever curious Terpy asks, should a photo cost far less than a Coca-Cola? Seriously?
June 10, 201115 yr Well, at WalGreens, a digital photo costs usually $.09-$.19. A 20 ounce Coke is around $1.30. Kings Island ain't the only one doin' it!
June 10, 201115 yr Author I have stated this before...I think the on-ride photos are one of my favorite park souvenirs...they never fail to bring back a good memory. I cannot agree more with this. It took me quite a few years to actually enjoy roller coasters... I always went on The Beast with my Dad to make him happy, but I never enjoyed it. The first ride that I actually enjoyed, I purchased the on ride photo. I still have it to this day.
June 11, 201115 yr Once you get the 4 pictures you must purchase a new drive because they only hold 4 pictures. Spitfire--Yes it can be used on multiple rides
June 22, 201115 yr Author They do accept credit cards at the photo booths on the end of the ride... right?
June 22, 201115 yr Author Thanks! I use my card for everything, but I always worry some small things like this won't accept them.
June 23, 201115 yr Since I worked in ride photo last year when the flash drives were launched, I wanted to jump in on this conversation. To answer the original question on this thread, if you remember your photo number, you can purchase it at any point later in the day as a print or as a flash drive upload. Some of the associates will tell you that the photos are deleted after a 1/2 hour, but they're lying to you to try to get you to buy the photo immediately while your adrenaline is still high (I wasn't one of them). The flash drive itself has a very small memory, so putting more than 4 photos on one doesn't work. Besides, if you're going to drop another $30 bucks on 4 uploads, you might as well get yourself another flash drive to get your money's worth. On the question of $2 uploads onto a personal flash drive, remember that on the 2 rides that offer emailed copies (Diamondback and Boo Blasters), an email copy is $2 but only with the purchase of a print package (last year's prices, they may have changed since). Also, since I'm no genius, I don't know what risk could be posed to the parks' photo computers if anyone can plug in a flash drive, especially since the two locations I mentioned use the display & print computer as a register as well. Credit cards are accepted. At 7 of the photo locations, they use the same registers as many of the food locations.(fun fact)

June 24, 201115 yr The flash drive holds four photos? That's either an INCREDIBLY small flash drive or some INCREDIBLY large pictures... Wow.

I might have to write down a few numbers until I find one I really like... just in case the first picture is the best!
June 24, 201115 yr The flash drive holds four photos? That's either an INCREDIBLY small flash drive or some INCREDIBLY large pictures... Wow. The biggest picture on mine is 643kb. Checking the properties of the drive on my PC it says it is 500MB and only 2.5 is used. Not sure why they make you buy a new one when there is plenty of room left. Perhaps the person we talked to was misinformed.
June 24, 201115 yr Right, maybe $20 bucks for another punch card. That's $5 per additional photo, which I think is fair if you've already pledged an allegiance to the park by showing that you're purchasing plenty of photos.
June 24, 201115 yr http://www.holidayworld.photogra.com/index.cfm?d=holidayworld&research= Holiday World will take your picture for free.
June 25, 201115 yr Well, Holiday World does lots of things cheaper or free but I'm not sure what that has to do with flash drive photos at KI.
June 25, 201115 yr Sure, Holiday World does things for free... Yeah... Free... Just like Disney's Fastpass.... Now complimentary with the purchase of each $85.00 + tax park ticket!
June 25, 201115 yr So it's a one time fee of $30 and then you have a punch card letting you know how many more you're entitled to? I sort of like this idea. But the problem is, obviously, that an average of $7.50 per photo is way too high. That's a huge profit margin, dare I say even more than a 20 oz. Coke? BUT, It's not really a terrible idea on the whole. A lot of people like to put photos on their computers and they can upload them to Facebook and such. Plus they can print them out at home, but that costs extra money of course. Do the flash drives have the Kings Island logo on them? That would drive interest up (for someone like me anyways) and drive the value up since it would be a collector's piece. Someone said they're 500 MB? If they were 1000 MB, had the Kings Island logo on them, and I could get, say, five pictures for $30 then I'd be possibly be interested in actually purchasing one. The on ride photos have been money in the bank for years and years at the park and it's nice to see them get a modern-day makeover. This is so much different than the outdated Keyhole Photo. A lot of people have just as good of a camera on their phones thes days and can take their own pictures by the sign or by the fountains or wherever they want. Do we now see why Keyhole is desperate? (I know, that's litlerally a topic for another thread.) I think if Keyhole got in on this particular deal, it would be very profitable to them. Even charging $5 to put your Keyhole photo on your on ride photo flash drive would be better than what they're doing now.
