The Beast may lose world's longest?

Featured Replies

I heard that 'China is building one longer' than The Beast. Of course, a random guy on youtube said this. Is there any truth to this?

I've heard that rumor too. But I haven't seen any announcement.

I'm afraid so. If I remember correctly, there was a topic about it several months ago (which I can't seem to be able to find...) when the coaster was announced.

Ah, okay. Has there been any photos or video leaked?

Like their cars right?

Perhaps the things from China to which you allude are cheap because that's what USA wants...and therefore they supply it to make a profit.

Oh well, it's been a good run. The ol' coaster has held that record 32 years now. It was bound to be broken sometime...*weep* *weep*

Of course they do have a lot more terrain back there to *cough* *cough* add some more track. lol

They might still claim longest in terms of ride time - even slow the lift hill down some more if necessary :)

It will still be the longest in wooded wooden coaster in America. :)

Let them build away, it doesnt matter as we had the record first and we're the only ones that have The Beast!

There is another way to look at this, but I don't want to risk crossing the 'political' term-of-service rule. Let me say it like this: A man has the largest swingset in the world in his backyard. Then, one day, the man can no longer pay his bills, and has to sell his property to satisfy his obligations. The holder of most of his debt buys his property, and then the world's largest swingset becomes their asset. Thus, now they have the world's largest swingset, and didn't have to build a new one to claim the bragging rights.

Dont worry The Beast is still the longest rollercoaster of any material in the US and north america.

Beast wasn't first. Before it was built, someone else had the record for the longest wooden coaster.

This is just more of a reason to re-open SoB, they need at least one wooded record holder...tongue.gif

There are currently only 2 wooden coasters in China. I was told that the GCI at Knight Valley is still not open to customers even though the ride is complete. Seems the hold up is getting the government to certify the ride. Since wooden coasters are such a rare breed in China, they don't have anything to compare. This was told to me on July 24th of this year. Their was supposed to have been a representative from GCI at Coasting for Kids-Worlds of Fun, but he was on a plane back to China to try to get the ride open.

So before I would worry too much about Beast losing a record, I would want to see these other coasters open and running. Besides, record or not we will still be enjoying night rides in our own back yard. rolleyes.gif

Also, who cares if China builds one longer. I guarantee it won't be as beastly as The Beast!!!cool.gif

^ Given how the ride's been running this year, in my opinion, they better hope it doesn't get beastly like The Beast! :P

Didn't the coaster that beat out Millie Force shut down? Think it was called Steel Dragon 2000 at Spa World.

^ I believe that's Steel Dragon 2000 at Nagashima Spaland in Japan. I've read it had extensive downtime around 2006 due to a wheel failure (i.e., the train chucked a wheel that flew into their waterpark). As I understand it, it has since reopened.

One of the coaster makers said that Japan or China wanted some sort of special wood that only that country had to build a wooden coaster with. They said no because of the many issues with that.

Dave,

You are correct in that wooden coasters are a rare breed in China, but just to clarify, we did open our ride a few weeks ago to the public. If anyone was waiting to go to China, the ride at Knight Valley is open! Check out the photos on our Facebook page and like us!

"It's still the longest to me da**it!"

I seen that video. I do have to say that going to 18 WWF/WWE events and what i seen, 70% is fake and 30% is real.

More like 85% percent fake and 15% real and that's coming from a wrestling fan.
