Is Nightmare Alley just a walkthrough or like a house/maze???

It is A WALKTHROUGH. Jeesh people. It's really not that hard to understand. I am not just talking to you.

Sorry for getting snappy, but you guys, it's not a hard concept.

Woah! Lol!

Yah, I know, it's just all over the place, people asking what NA is.

Went last night and the ones we tried:

Carnevil: Fun maze. Not too scary, but lot of cool things to look at and entertaining. 8/10

Holiday Horror: Went when it was still light out and didn't realize there was no roof to any of the scenes, so wasn't scary, but had cool themes. I bet we'd like it more if it was dark when we went. 7/10

Slaughter House: Best house of the night. Lots of good scares and scenes. Ending was unique and freaky. Liked watching the chainsaw guy scare people at the end. 10/10

Urgent Scare: Disappointing. Long line could use some scareactors to mess with people. House itself was more gore than anything else. People who looked like burn victims were cool looking, but weren't really scaring people effectively. 5/10

Nightmare Alley: Disappointed as well. Posted my thoughts on it in a Nightmare Alley thread. Mostly bad location and not enough scares. 3/10

Can't agree more. I love watching that guy get some good scares.

Thank you very much. Love reading everybodys feedback.

I'm used to phantom theater/scooby doo/boo blasters not being opened for fearfest. we walked past it and wondered if it was open or not. if we knew for sure that it was open, i'm sure we would have got on it.

Yes it is open and equipped with actors! Lame but walk on is good.

So, I went last night, and I have some very surprising maze reviews.

Mysteria - It was.....GOOD! I can't believe I am saying this. It was actually above average. The fog almost blinded you last night and the people blended into walls and curtains. I got scared a lot, surprisingly. It redeemed itself! 7/10

Wolf Pack - Another redeeming for a maze. So much scarier this time! It was also really gross, and there were a lot more actors inside. 7/10

Later I will post the other mazes I did.....

I agree. From all the reviews I read on it, I wasn't expecting much at all but it was kind of creepy seeing the shadows of the actors in the fog. Much better than I was expecting although I felt like the actors didn't try to scare me very much.

Wow, I heard it was REALLY bad yesterday with crowds. I went yesterday, and it was ridiculously packed. A lot of people are complaining about apparently the attendance being very high! I feel bad for the people that went for the day (GP)....that must have sucked.

Tombstone absolutely sucked, no one was hiding or anything. 0 scares. I do think this is the most tame, year after year though.

Holiday Horror had a nonstop line, no groups. Didn't think much of this one either, but it looked better than I thought.

I think this is the best year Kings Island has seen in its history as far as Haunts go; they really put a lot of effort into the whole entire park, and brought in new mazes. They really put other CF parks and SF parks to shame!

Oh, chainsaw guy, I was the guy taking pictures of you Saturday night.

i was very happy with Kings Island this year with Halloween Haunt even though i went thru only 6 haunts because the group i was with began to complain about the fog and decided to leave early. but my absolute favorite was nightmare alley with all the fog and the lights and theme music, not for the scares because there was none. but the one i did not like was holiday horror because of the lines that were created going thru and when you leave after ur picture and there is a small space that they make you go into before you enter the actual maze.

is tombstone really that bad this year? i honestly thought it was better then previous years i like the setup this year compared to what its usually like i guess i just see it differentially since i work it and cant see it from a guests point of view

I too work Tombstone and what I think makes the difference on Tombstone is if you are scared by "pop-out scares". If you are scared by that then Tombstone is scary as that's about all that is offered. The first bridge is about the only place that you might be scared by something other than a pop-out scare. But with that said, even working the end of the trail...in a good bit of light compared to the rest of the trail... I still get about 60-70% of the people I try to scare to jump or make some other reaction to my scare.

Also on most nights I get to see the trail from a guests point of view by following a group through the maze. I often see these guests jump, scream and laugh all through the trail so it must not be too bad. Heck even standing at the exit I see the majority of guests smiling (or running out of the trail) so Tombstone must be doing something right (or they were glad they didn't have to waste any more time on it :P)

Slaughterhouse - Wow, just wow. So much better than last year. This is the first maze I have been genuinely scared. Chainsaws, meat cleavers, gore, strobe lights, and a whole bunch of scares puts this maze at #1 on my list. I couldn't even do it twice it was so scary! 10/10

I'm not sure if you remember this Zack, but last Friday I was with some friends, someone pulled both of you aside and asked you to scare that kid(she pointed to him). You guys did fantastic and scared him really good, It's awesome that the people working here, like you, are so enthusiastic about their jobs. THANKS!

I would love to see a ticketed system and maybe it would cut down some of lines. If KI upped the ante on some of the houses and charges like $8-$12 per haunted house I'd be fine with that. Thats what your going to pay at least for a local haunted house.

Along with the the park entrance price?

As much as I love Kings Island at Halloween time they would lose me & my whole family if they would even charge $5.00 per Haunt. I don't care what "other" places charge for their haunted houses....there are NO Haunts at Kings Island that I felt are worth $5.00 to experience, none.

I agree. I would cease to go on Saturdays, mostly due to the fact that as a high school student, one day would remove all the spending money I keep from my paycheck for a week.

I try to hit as many Haunted Houses that I can every October and can tell you that all of Kings Island's haunted houses pale in comparison to the businesses that specialize in Halloween. No offense to the actors and employees who work the Halloween Haunt, this isn't about your talents or efforts what so ever. It's about places like the Land Of Illusions, Haunted Hootchie, Dent School House and even the U.S.S. Nightmare who put all of their resources into making the best haunted house possible because that is all that they specialize in. No thrill rides, no musical shows, no Dip N' Dots or set down restaurants like Skyline. It's all about the haunted house, because if it's lame then they don't make any money. So every year or two the Haunted House specialist dump mass amounts of money back into their attractions to keep the people coming back for more. Kings Island may dump mass amounts of money into their Haunt each year as well, but its spread over 12 attractions, two or three shows and enough decorations to fill an amusement park, spreading the resources thin. Because Kings Island has so much more to offer, I feel they have taken the route of quantity over quality. Now personally, I don't have a problem with this because its a massive amount of quantity. The availability of the rides and shows being included with admission makes up for the haunted houses not being up to the intensity of the Haunted Hootchie in Columbus, or being as long as the Haunted Cave/ Mine in Lewisburg, or even having the novelty of the Haunted Bus Ride in Wilmington. For all you get with your admission, the haunted house are great and the Halloween Haunt is a bargain, but if they were to charge extra for their haunted houses it would certainly not be a bargain, or even worth it. I have been through Dr. Psycho's Haunted Estate at the Land Of Illusions four times and there is so much detail in the sets and so many animatronics and scareactors coming at you that every time I went through it I noticed something new that I had either missed before or just didn't have enough room in my brain to retain it all. How many haunted houses at Kings Island can you honestly say that about? And again, its not a slam on the Kings Island Halloween Haunt actors or staff, you guys do a fine job, I'm just saying the houses themselves, although fun, are too simplistic and slapped together to be worth paying extra for.

A local haunted house also doesn't charge over 30.00 + to get into it either. You have to remember that people are paying alot of money if they aren't pass holders per person to get into the park. Most people don't think about that. It's bad enough the gp cries about how much it costs to get into the park. Let alone the hotel and or long drives they take to get to the park. A big number of the gp pay the full price to get into the park or how ever much it is to get in just at haunt time. So one family of 4 with the tickets, food, parking and the haunt would cost them over $250.00 per family if they pay the price you said per person if they get all of the haunts in. Flightoffear1996, would you be willing to pay that much? I know you wouldn't be fine with paying to see more then 4 haunts on top of paying the full price to get into the park with food and parking.
