drewbari Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 Here is a picture of PKI's first day. Why is this sign on the ET. I do not think PF where there on the first day. Was it because the where at the top back then? Here is the site, http://extremepki.houstonthrills.com/history/1972_grand2.jpg Quote
beastdude Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 I think the sign meant, KI is here time to not be depressed, but to get happy. I am not absolutly positive about this but I think that is what it means. Quote
Dane Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 It was the name of a song at the time. Very popular. I think. Quote
Derek Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 It was TV show "The Partridge Family" song, I believe. Please correct me if I'm mistaken. Derek Quote
Tanner Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 I'd answer if I could read the question, how about a translation. Quote
coasterrz Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 ET=Eiffel Tower. PF=Partridge Family, as in the television show. Quote

stewwill Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 I rememeber that slogan well. The entire marketing campaign was built around Come On, Get Happy. There was a recorded jingle that played on radio and tv stations all summer. If you want to get REALLY detailed, the announcer for those commercials was Jerry Thomas, a moring guy at WKRC radio in Cincinnati. So there you have it. Stew Will Quote
DeliriumDreamer Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 I don't know much about the PF, but maybe that sign was there to welcome the visitors in a friendly way. Quote

That "Come On and Get Happy" was KI's slogan back then...I can remember the jingle, tune, and everything: "Kings Island, Come on and get happy, Kings Island, Come on and get happy...." With their commercials, this line played over and over and eventually faded into a whisper as the commercial ended. Oh I remember that so well! MommaBeast Quote

SOB_TOM Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 Yeah it is a great place to get happy, unless you are working. Then its a great place to get a headache. Workers, you agree? (Certain days only, good days need not apply Quote
StXBomber Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 *coughBAFFDcough* Yeah, most days are happy. Some are another word that starts with h. Quote
crzycoasterlvr Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 I disagree with you Tom...I love my job, there are some bad days but when I leave I always seem to be in a good mood as I walk through the park and see all of the smiling faces. You can't let a few issues make the entire day bad, you have to look at the day as a whole and see how you doing your job made somebody elses day really great. Quote
