westcoaster Posted January 24, 2012 Share Posted January 24, 2012 I saw these in the paper, they are incredible, sure wish the park for the 40th would add a museum,for old stuff and photos. On most surveys, its top 10 in the seasonal parks....... Gotta love the construction pictures too, and the scary looking rescues on the sky ride. That image of the ladder apparently fully extended made me queesy just look at it, knowing they were 95 feet in the air for it: next stop, the ground! imagine the safety violations on that one today... Kings Island probably did their best to make up for the mishap (free tickets, merch etc) and everyone involved probably didn't try suing Kings Island. Not that this is fact by any means, but is probably a good representation of the changing of the times. (Although one might have an affect on the other.. maybe if people weren't so sue happy these days, then parks would be able to front a little more expenditures to inconvenienced guests) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

thekidd33 Posted January 24, 2012 Share Posted January 24, 2012 I noticed that the price tag for the park is stated as $20 million in on of the photos from 1970 and then $30 million in one of the photos from 1972. Was the extra $10 million over run, was there more added to the park as construction went along than was orgianlly planned, or did the photo caption simply get it wrong? Thanks for sharing these! Not that this is fact by any means, but is probably a good representation of the changing of the times. i believe i've read in multiple places that the stranded guests were given the opportunity for lifetime season passes. however, none took them because, 'they enjoyed the view.' Maybe they could do a wall of history at least - perhaps near the front where the Halloween stuff goes (the windows to the left as you walk in).
