Cedar Fair Season Passes

I wasn't sure exactly where to put this so here is where it landed.

Anyway, I'm a little perplexed. I'm going to Kings Dominion tomorrow for the first time and am super excited. I called both Kings Island and Kings Dominion about 3 weeks ago asking if I could upgrade my KI gold pass to a platinum at KD. Both parks said yes, they will just need to verify that I am a pass holder. I called yesterday, already at Virginia beach mind you, KD told me it had to be done at my home park and KI is maintaining that it is still possible to upgrade here. Anyone have any input on this?

Also, is the easy pay plan offered in the parks or no?

I imagine that it will be possible, just with varying levels of difficulty for the employees there. The best idea, we always say, is to call and ask. Here's yet another example of where that doesn't help because the day-to-day employees aren't quite sure what the actual policy is or what the computer is capable of doing.

I would call back and ask to speak with a supervisor in admissions and explain the situation. As I said, I have no doubts that it could be done with the right amount of calls between parks and a supervisor's permission (if it would even take all that), it's just a matter of preparing them for it and explaining that you've heard different answers from all parks.

I was at Virginia Beach today, too! Hope the wind gusts and flying sand didn't exfoliate you too much.

I could be wrong but if it is a KI Gold Pass then yes, I believe it has to be done through KI, only other option I can think of is buy an all new Platinum through KD :/ (thats the impression I've always been under) If you're able to do that easy pay plan thing, you could do that. Sure beats having to dump over 100 dollars there on the spot.

But again I'm really not sure.

As the Interpreter has said, should it be this hard to give someone your money?

Kinzel's opposition to technology and reluctance to update will plague the parks for years to come. Really... While Busch Gardens uses fingerprints to verify multi-day tickets, Kings Island still uses employees quickly matching signatures - and then, most employees in my experience don't even ask you to sign!

I agrees with GYK, call and politely ask to talk to a supervisor. IF that does;t work call KI and talk to one and then ask them to contact KD, while your on the phone, to double check with them. Get the names of those you talk to at both park. YIKES!!!!!

It seems a lot of pass problems only get solved by going to guest relations or processing and going up the chain to a supervisor or two, I don't recommend that in your case I've had issues at multiple parks over several things.

It all seems so silly doesn't it. Thanks to difficulties with renewing my KD PP, I was planning on season passes to Holiday World instead this year. Then came all the good that has been Ouimet"S leadership thus far. I now have a PP and my wife and daughter have KI Gold.

I wouldn't count on Kings Dominion to be able to do anything. They are the only park out of the entire chain, that I've been to, that can't scan KI platinum passes. For the last two years I've had to go to guest relations each time to argue with them that my pass was indeed a 2012 pass and not a 2010 as they claim.

It's very frustrating when KD guest relations tells you that their system is working fine and it's MY FAULT because I didn't have my picture retaken and pass re-processed. Yet, I've had no problems using my (in their opinion, 2010) pass at Cedar Point, Dorney Park, Worlds of Fun, Canada's Wonderland, Michigan Adventure or Kings Island over the same two year span of time.

And I still don't have a renewed KD Platinum Pass. Mr. Reid-Anderson and Mr. Weber pass along their thanks to FUN's outdated KD renewal system. So far, it's been SIX's gain and FUN's loss.

Why should it be this hard to give Cedar Fair money? FUN perks? All I wanted to do was renew, and without going to KD itself, that wasn't possible this year. I can think of at least six reasons that doesn't make ANY sense.

Back in 2009 I was going to Upgrade a KI Gold Pass to Platinium at Dorney Park, I even knew how much more it was going to cost, but decided not to do it, I have had Platinium now since 2010. So I'm sure it's possible, it's just it's Cedar Fair, so they do what they want! Make it up as they go along it seems.
