SonofBaconator
Even though Racer is a very historic and popular ride for KI, I still think it isn't as good without the backwards train. Do you think the Cedar Fair took out the backwards train because it was a paramount thing even though one train became backwards before paramount bought KI? I'd like to see the backwards train be put back. What do you think?
The Interpreter
I think you REALLY need to use Search. Terp, suddenly nostalgic.
SonofBaconator
I think you REALLY need to use Search. Terp, suddenly nostalgic. Terp, I did use search, no results found. Unless it was under a different topic.
The Interpreter
It wasn't. This was discussed virtually endlessly. Cedar Fair didn't "decide" to end backwards operation. That was done for them. They had no choice.
SonofBaconator
I apologize.
dudecoasterman
The manufacturers required that the train be put forward didn't they?
The Interpreter
In Ohio, parks must follow manufacturers' recommendations in order for a ride to be licensed to operate. PTC no longer recommends its vintage coaster trains be ran backwards. Kings Island is in Ohio. The park prefers to cite "nostalgia."
Original
Darn. I was really hoping it would be put back.
KIfan1980
Just by searching the words of your title, I found hundreds of topics. Do you ever get any results? Might you need some help with search? Here is the main topic that I found: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/12579-something-old-becomes-new-again-at-kings-island-red-racer-vs-blue-racer-season-pass-processing-2008-entertainment-lineup-halloween-haunt-more/page__pid__206678 Here is another with the exact same title as yours: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/18624-backwards-racer/page__st__30__p__335550__hl__++backward%20++racer__fromsearch__1#entry335550 Now, be prepared if you bring up an old topic, some people may criticize you for doing that also, so I recommend starting with an admission that it's an old topic but express your interest in new opinions, etc...
westcoaster
Get a engineering study to move it backwards.
The Interpreter
Won't make a bit of difference in Ohio. Manufacturer recommendations MUST be followed.
SonofBaconator
So they weren't so strict about it in years before they made the train forwards?
The Interpreter
The recommendation was a new recommendation at the time backwards operation ceased. Terp, choosing his words carefully.
TheBEASTunchained
I remember the backwards Racer, It was fun but changes are changes and at Kings Island, changes are always happening.
