Man arrested in fake theme park pass scheme

Featured Replies

More than 10 victims reported that they purchased tickets they were unable to use at parks, Luong said. Police found the ad and arranged to meet a seller of Universal Studios tickets at an undisclosed Buena Park location, where they arrested Raymond Lim. He is facing forgery and counterfeiting charges.

For Universal Studios alone, at least 41 counterfeit tickets, valued at $2,400, have been sold, Luong said.

Moral of the story: if it's too good to be true, it usually is.

With that in mind, always purchase your tickets at the park, at their web site or official resellers like Kroger. Always beware of buying tickets from people at the park that claim they do not need it. You do not know if the ticket they printed online has been used, or is a fake. During the recent park sell out days like P&G, the company has set up a process for them to exchange or sale their tickets. It is not like it was in the old days before tickets were scanned at the park as to their validity. So is is buyer beware.

Yeah, they know whether a ticket is used or not. If the computer says the ticket was used at 10:15 AM on October 20 at the third turnstile from the right, you're not getting in with it.

And if you are the FIRST person at the gate on a Sunday morning at Carowinds and your season pass claims you have already been in the park that day, you also are not getting in. Never mind what you paid for.

Terp, who has NEVER had any similar issue with any other park chain.

That reminds me, I have been meaning to ask You if You had any problems at all getting into any of the parks this year, with the change in certain Personnel.

KD would not renew Platinum Passes except in person at the park.

So, for the first time in at least 15 years, I do not have a Cedar Fair pass. Mr. Reid-Anderson & Co. have benefited from Cedar Fair's policies in my case. I may well purchase a Dorney Park Platinum Pass for next year. Not sure yet.
