It kind of looks like it was her fault... she held up the paper plate of yummy dolphin food, so of course it tried to snatch that out of their hand. Also,

I just added a second article to the original post. In it, the mother says minors cannot be responsible for their actions. Really? Is GE responsible if her daughter touches a hot GE stove?

In this world the lawyers would say yes...and it boggles my mind that they seem to manage to convince a jury that it's true.

Sometimes yes, frequently no. It's the verdicts for the plaintiff that get attention. And the companies that would rather settle than take their chances in court.

Supposedly, this family isn't going to sue. That remains to be seen.

Unfortunately in this case, the park will probably settle out of court to avoid the negative publicity which would come from hearings.

I've got friends that work in Orlando newsrooms... They know the park addresses by heart, and when there's a medic or police run, they go. Every. Single. Time.

Just because the rules allow you to do something doesnt mean you dont use your own judgement! There are several rides between KI and Soak City that my daughter can ride but i dont feel she is ready so i tell her No! She is tall for her age and so i use my better judgement.There is no way im letting my kids feed wild animals that close without my finger on their pulse! I would feel guilty if i was her parents and the thought to sue is just how screwed up our society can be,child services should look into this and then maybe they would think twice about their own actions.

I can't get the article to load, but I feel compelled to respond to this anyway:

If minors cannot be responsible for their own actions, then why do we have juvenile court systems? Why do schools suspend misbehaving students? If my 13-year-old self was not responsible for punching the assistant principal in 7th grade, I wouldn't have spent the next two years on probation.

Give me a break.
