Starting to Decode 2014

I'm 99% sure that exclusive deal on B&M Inverts is looooong gone and dead by now.

Hey, I just noticed something...

2009

Magnum XL-200, Cedar Point's Hypercoaster, turns 20. Kings Island gets a Hypercoaster, Diamondback.

2014

Raptor, Cedar Point's Full Circuit Inverted Coaster, turns 20. Kings Island gets ??? (signs pointing to invert right now...)

Hmm...

Getting excited for our 2023 strata coaster!

Here's something I came up with. It might be somewhat outlandish, but I wanted to try and do my best at the decoding. Let's assume that we might (not ARE) get a B&M inverted coaster. Each of these clues represents one of the B&M inverted coasters at a Cedar Fair park (except for Silver Bullet because I had nothing on it).

Cedar Fair B&M Inverted Coasters/Possible Clues

Raptor Cedar Point/Owl Prop (an owl is a bird of prey called a raptor)

Talon Dorney Park/Owl Prop (owls use their talons to catch its prey)

Afterburn Carrowinds/Dons How about a little fire, Scarecrow? Tweet. (Fire=burn)

Patriot Worlds of Fun/ Don quoting Steve Miller Bands Fly like an Eagle (Patriots logo has an eagle)...

I'm thinking Don read this post and is toying with us with his tweet about The Bat.

But I never mentioned The Bat. Don's tweet could just be a Kings Island history flashback.

Yeah I don't think his tweet has anything to do with 2014. Just a possibility he read that and is having some fun. More than likely you're right though.

Here's something I found I thought was interesting:

[Originally posted by Vortexfan May 28, 2012] Sorry I'm on a tablet and this is the best I could quote it.

" Leviamania was definitely a huge success. Thanks to everyone that attended. It was a bit hard to hear at times, so I wanted to share this tidbit of information from the Q&A (Norm, Park GM):

Canada's Wonderland was meant to get a B&M inverted intead of the Vekoma SLC model! The deal was ready to be signed HOWEVER, Cedar Point had an exlusivity deal that B&M could not build another invert with 200 miles (as the crow flies) of the park. Canada's Wonderland is at the 198 mile mark. Cedar Point refused to let Wonderland build what could have been an AMAZING invert. So we got what we did."

The term "as the crow flies". We have scarecrows on the footers and the owls are actually scarecrows. Do a google search for owl and scarecrow and those exact plastic owls come up. The crow does not fly in that area ie a B&M invert may be built there. Just wanted to throw that out there in case those really are the clues. I know I know I'm overthinking it. But hey isn't this what the Decode 2014 thread is for.

But KI isn't more than 200 miles away from CP either...

Looks like a giga will be installed in 2020

Literally, I think the only type of coaster we haven't mentioned in this thread is a bobsled coaster.

Darnit, Skippy, you ruined it! This is why we can't have nice things.

Just kidding. Didn't you get the text from KIClub? We're getting a side-friction.

Dear KIC members discussing sneaking into the park via the underneath of a flatbed... Do we seriously have that bad of a memory that we can't remember what happened just a week ago?

Do not ever. And I mean EVER. try to sneak into Kings Island, the park we all dearly love. Do NOT try to board a flat bed to try to figure out where it's going. LEAVE IT ALONE. We will all find out in due time.

That is all. Good night and sweet dreams...in your own bed please.

Don't forget our 2016 Stand-Up! And the 2022 Intamin Impulse! And in 2027, we finally get an Intamin Blitz! But then we have to wait until 2033 for the next coaster, which will be a B&M Wing Coaster that removes the then very old Drop Tower & Invertigo and goes over the front gate for a new main entrance! :P

Note: Yeah, I'm just kidding, I don't honestly feel this pattern will continue past this point, and we didn't get the wooden coaster in 2011 as LordSkippy pointed out so...yeah.

Took the kids up on Eiffel Tower today and without seeing more footers yet I have no idea how anybody can make out any idea what the new attraction is going to be?

Welcome to the club.

Do I get fun perks with this club, I think I earned front of the line new attraction 2014 passes with the money I spent yesterday! :P

It was a joke. Just a joke. No harm, no foul.

Diamondback was August 8th, 2008. I'm expecting a similar announcement date for Project 2014, to be honest.

"There may not be a day this summer that we announce what we're building for the future."

Perhaps Fire-Beast-OF FEAR is on to something. What if Don's quote implies an announcement date coinciding with another attraction's anniversary from a previous summer?

Corny, I suppose, but it beats Intamin vs. B&M debate.

^ Good :) probably a good idea not to bring up the topic of sneaking around and trespassing though, even if it is a joke. You never know who's gonna read it and possibly act on it...

Funny thing is I'm not the one who brought it up.

Not trying to suggest anything to anyone here, but does CSW have no trespassing signs posted? I own a business and we had a discussion with out security in the past(off duty police) about trespassing and if its not posted or you are not told directly, its not a criminal act. Again, I'm not suggesting anyone go on their property, just curious if they have anything posted.

Also, Don said that there may not be a day this summer.

This, of course, leaves the possibility that there will be, though hints against it.

True. My apologies for directing it at you... It was just a blanket statement since it seemed to have come up again.

Apology accepted. No worries. Just let it be known that finding out what this coaster is going to be means nothing to me compared to being here for my kids (not sitting in jail for trespassing) and having the opportunity to take them to Kings Island and share fun family moments with them the way I remember sharing them with my dad. I would never jeopardize that.

I'm sorry, but you've lost me. Could you please explain what you're suggesting?

Sure.

At face value, the statement hints that the announcement will occur after summer ends on September 1 (meteorological) or September 22 (North American calendar definition).

If you try to "decode" the meaning of the hint, you might conclude that the announcement will happen at night (so there's not a day) or will be read by someone other than the park's management. ("...when we announce...").

I was half-jokingly suggesting that "this summer" might suggest a 2014 announcement on the day of the year that a previous summer ride announcement (eg. Diamondback's) happened.

Fire-Beast-OF FEAR suggested a meet-up at the park to celebrate the anniversary of Diamondback's announcement five summers ago, so I suggested that he could be on to something.

Or, as Jon noted above, the hint could mean nothing whatsoever. The statement is guaranteed to be true because of the "may not" wording.

Is this from a tweet?

^ The quote is from what Don told us at the June KICentral event. He also posted it in this thread, on page 115:

As mentioned to those in attendance at the KIC event, there may not be a day this summer that we announce what we're building for the future.
