I seriously don't get all the hatin' on Mean Streak. Sure, it's rough, but what did you expect from a giant wooden roller coaster? I certainly find it more enjoyable than some of those namby-pamby new age hybrid woodies (I'm looking at you, Voyage.)

I love Meanstreak, and have never had a bad experience on it. My question is, What is wrong with The Voyage? I don't think it's a namby-pamby coaster by any means. You are entitled to your opinion, but I think The Voyage is a pretty intense coaster, and I think it's fun.

While there are indeed a lot of thrilling elements on the Voyage, they aren't implemented in the most effective way, unlike that other modern woodie that I very much enjoy (Ravine Flyer II) where every element feels natural in context of the rest of the ride and the terrain. The Voyage tries to do too much - WAY too much - for its own good, the way I see it. Given the choice between any of HW's three woodies, I'd go with the Legend before I went with the Voyage.

Namby-pampy means lacking in substance. Is the Voyage fun? Yes; very few coasters aren't. Is it lacking in substance compared to what I consider superior woodies? Yes.

I haven't rode the Streak in well over 15 years...will be giving it another shot next week. When Gwazi opened here at BG in 99, my first reaction was...Last time my back and neck felt this way was on.... Anyway, they replaced the trains on Gwazi a few years ago, which did seem to improve the ride. Didn't last long though. Gwazi is just to rough for me. The Tiger side hasn't ran in forever, and rumor has it Gwazi will be gone by 2015,16. I don't know why people think Mean Streak is rough.

Yesterday I was lucky enough to experience a trimless ride on Mean Streak! It was smooth and, somewhat surprisingly, fun!

I recently rode MS in the front seat and It was a very good ride. The second half was very slow and uneventful so it lost points there but it was better than Mantis in terms of thrills and pain. I do like the ride and especially the setting and structure but it does need a renovation in the style of outlaw run to compete with the rest of the Point's collection and let the Point remain competitive in terms of wooden coasters.

I think it's really rough. It gives me a bad headache pretty much every time I ride it. I'd love for RMC to give it some TLC, and it could even jump into one of my top coaster spots. Hopefully soon...

I only ever ride it in the front car. I can't stand anywhere else on the train.

I agree with most of your assessments though. However, I'm probably in the minority on this, but I find the 2nd half to have decent laterals.

No doubt Mean Streak is rough and mean. It's an under recognized coaster though. It has all the elements of a great coaster, along with the near brain hemorrhage (jk). I've rode it 4-5 times and the last 3 rides gave me a headache. Even sitting in the front, like some will say, doesn't help me.

I rode MS is 2010. I loved it but I have always thought it was rougher than SoB. Thats just my honest opinion.

I rode Mean Streak in 2010 And unless the retracking did a world of a difference, I cannot take you guys seriously that are saying Mean Streak isn't rough. I'll listen to other people's opinions if I wanna know whether a ride is enjoyable from now on.

I thought it wasn't as rough as Son of Beast ^^ , but there were more places and longer durations where I felt pain and kept wishing I could stop the ride.

I fail to see how converting a wooden coaster into a steel coaster would HELP them remain competitive in terms of woodies...
