  1. Oh yeahh i forgot about that hint.. my only guess could be the concave bust that is seen... i think after the mechanic, before the turn table effect. Maybe just to tease that one of those busts gets to have a return?
  2. Never thought about how it technically could not make sense to have physical ghouls... and then seeing ghosts afterward.. esp garbonzo I think specifically is shown as a robot and then in the peppers ghost room. Absolutely true. But, it's a unique spectacle that adds variety, and for a kid, could be the coolest thing for awhile. And thats what it was for me. So, I wouldve liked it to return (the effect) or to be met/ exceeded in visual "cool" factor.. and for me, it didn't match it. Some agree, some dont. Apologies if my post specifically was too whiny in that aspect. I wonder how, if we did get a peppers ghost effect, how it could be done that maintains narrative sense.. but I dont know if I'd care too much.
  3. Long read and... I know that I tend to be very critical of things I care about.. so to partially counter that, I made myself go back n forth for negative and positve thoughts. From videos before riding: πŸ‘Ž We use flashlights.. but lack a 'lights out' scene. πŸ‘ A nice shooting system that works, and has sounds and haptics to confirm points πŸ‘Ž The Opera lady doesn't sing operatically.. doesnt sound serious, originally it was a powerful vocal that, when paired with the cracking mirror felt intense. I wish they had a lady that sang "properly". This voice is kind of.. annoying, i hesitate to say. πŸ‘ The queue has lightning in the windows πŸ‘Ž The Facade wasn't truly redone πŸ‘ Many animitronics πŸ‘Ž Too many reused assets from boo blasters.. Scooby to Boo was understandable as it was a required redo while the entire park redone.. but at least phantom to Scooby did, albeit less dazzling, mostly new effects. πŸ‘ the boiler scene returns! πŸ‘Ž There's no pepper's ghost effect & in its old location is all the characters, admittedly moving, but in one place.. on an empty stage.. peppers ghost wouldve been cooler as a static display if they had the whole audience area depicted like the OG πŸ‘ There are some callbacks/ redos of the OG on even small-detail scales. The Gargoyl, the guy caught in the ropes, the mummy. πŸ‘Ž The ride aint spooky at all.. I understand making it more family friendly for younger ages too but, I was 4 when I started riding & remembering Phantom Theatre and I still really liked it.. I feel we couldve gone more ghoulish than this.. afterall they went and put "Nightmare" on the ride title. πŸ‘ The ride vehicles are paired with one other vehicle now allowing for a fresher riding configuration and, in theory, allowing for longer audio sequences without hearing the other groups' scene. πŸ‘Ž connected to previous positive-- No Legs Larry repeats his first line loudly twice for some reason at the beginning πŸ‘ They attempt a decent story for why you're shooting these ghost notes πŸ‘Ž no legs larry, should be sassy and making puns that are slightly spooky themed like in the show's opening meet n greet.. thats why ppl loved him πŸ‘ maestro says "youll be back" πŸ‘Ž the audio repeats way too frequently for the showboxes being more spread out than before.. tocatta in d minor & "back on the stage once again". πŸ‘ projection mapping After riding πŸ‘ The shooting system was much more responsive and satisfying than expected πŸ‘Ž There are several moments where there's nothing happening πŸ‘ The windows in queue have thematic lighting πŸ‘Ž The 2nd buggy in the "train" doesnt get the best views because the cars don't rotate to look at the same time.. wouldve liked the cars to stay separately spaced since none of the scenes needed to last super long anyways.. the reused ride can only rotate at certain moments on the track.. car 1 and car 2 can never be triangulated on the same moment, because they will experience the exact same physical movements.. wouldve liked the system to program in different rotation points also. OG phantom had different rotations compared to scooby... but ever since scooby, its been the same. This was a good chance to change it up. πŸ‘ The indoor queue can fit more people and yet still does not feel cramped so the line will be out in the hot sun less often. πŸ‘Ž The castle has gashes in the concrete already πŸ‘nice easter eggs throughout including invered bust, The Beastie vulture etc πŸ‘ŽREALLY shouldve brought the peppers ghost effect back πŸ‘Boo Blasters is gone! πŸ‘Ž Volume on No Legs Larry incomprehensible in most places in the queue yet the cats meowing hurts my ears its so loud. πŸ‘ The bats on the metal railing are nicee πŸ‘Ž The boiler scene had nothing happening with the 2 guys, no notes going in.. then the secondary portion.. you dont get blasted with heat. (Many complained of it being hot.. but its still a better effect with the heat) πŸ‘ The new tangled in the ropes scene is superior πŸ‘Ž The 2-carriage showbox configuration ultimately led to my experience having 1 or 2 times where the dialogue/ action finishes early because it was designed for the 1st car to see. I remember the notes changing a little early once. Since the cars cant be made to rotate to triangulate on the same scene.. I think they should've kept the cars equally spaced out. Nothing lasted so long to need the extra spacing from my quick impression *shrug* πŸ‘ the haptics when you capture a ghost note is great πŸ‘Ž Larry's intro dialogue need to go through the carriage speakers instead of loudy screaming it twice within 3 seconds.. the riders hear both iterations. πŸ‘ despite wishing for a "lights out"moment.. i actually like the choice of that same character now turning up the lights to try to help get rid of the notes.. though, I wouldve opted for a flood light moment then haha.. maybe a quick strobe disguising a photo op -- Overall, Im so very glad to finally get rid of Scooby/ Boo Blasters. I remember the debut of Scooby as a 7 year old and being severely disappointed lol I have always joked "I was the target demographic.. and scooby doo was a lame addition as a 7 year old that actually DOES like scooby doo" Outside of my whining, this ride is very acceptable. Bringing a (for now) well operating shooting system that doesnt feel clunky & gives you great visual and physical feedback. I think kids as old as 13 will very much enjoy this ride as it is.. but, I think it leaned a bit too much into family friendly that it doesnt excite for older guests as much (except YOU who's reading this disagreeing). I mean the ride has "Nightmare" in the name.. probably a difficult balance. Ive heard people say kids used to get really scared of the old one but, Im coming from being maybe 3 or 4 and I dont remember ever being scared; my parents have never reported me crying from OG phantom *shrug* Im glad to see most people posting are fans of it (assuming mostly adults have been posting) I wish I was amongst the crew with mostly positive things to say. Tis my nature. But, Im glad the park put it the effort to give us a ride inspired by something that arguably was one of the best attractions to ever grace Kings Island. Let's all agree to keep it Phantom Theater forever now haha Ill be sure to ride this every time... the line is not crazy.
  4. Judging from this video: I'd bet it is an original. The level of detail and the type of shaping is too similar to this other inverted-bust for me to think they put that much replication when the entire ride has a brand new art style.
  5. Ive been watching the POVs cause Im not concerned with spoilers for this one & Im glad KI now (seems) to have a good dark ride again.. so long as those torches last. I may hold OG phantom on too high a pedastool cause Ive been making a 50/50 pros and cons list just from vids for now.. and its easier to say my cons.. surprising cause overall I think it looks good! Ill have to hop on for real .. whenever the lines arent opening day levels πŸ˜›
  6. I dont think it does.. uhh.. yeah thats all. I think the theory that it helped gague reception is a good guess
  7. Welp... I only briefly thought it couldve been AI until I saw some small details that werent out of place like the poster above the audience showing maestro and the video version showing another ghoul peaking from behind the curtain.. however.. there is one detail that I do not understand what it is. I see the other notes have swirls, or eyes, or wings... but I dont understand why this sharp symbol has an eye out by itself nor what the other markings are. But i figured if this is the only thing, it's probably not AI.. good to have it confirmed I suppose
  8. Now thats quite a workout.. glad flasglights shouldnt require all that movement... side note.. shouldnt the flashlight guns be in the shape of smart phones? That's what we mostly use nowadays or we have much smaller leds haha
  9. Sally can be pretty good.. or pretty okay. Just depends. Let's hope Six Flags pumped this project with more money than expected for a retheme than has happened at some parks over the years. Overall despite my pipedream.. im happy this is here and I expect the following: -Maestro design, while not as terrifying, will grow on me. - The capacity won't return to original phantom theatre levels.. seriously wth, paramount? Haga - there will be animatronics.. but not for every character and every instance.. - there will be at least some screens - more people (esp boo blaster fans) will be happy to be able to shoot -I will be happy that we still have a way to escape the heat! .... side note, how do we know for sure its going to use the exact Boo Blasters layout? Obviously that's probable but.. i think it could be economical if they just reverse the direction hehe
  10. Exactly.. lol we have to temper expectations. The design looks cool but very different.. and I was hoping for more details shown that warranted a video versus a photo but... Im happy this theme is back as a KI original. Just gotta hope its up to par :p time will tell... well.. Kings Island will tell
  11. I uh.. surely hope there's something for me.. i wonderr what happened *cough*
  12. Edit- error
  13. Edit. Error
  14. I think your suspicion is right. Its going to use the crypt building (will it use the height?) ((And Hawaiian may be correct to edit)) Maybe the maestro will be more rivertown centric rather than european western classical music.. i mean the wild west still had theatres and definitely still derived from our european ancestors.. it could work. Time will tell.. well KI will
  15. Not to step on BryanJay.. But just in case you dont use X: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DNnqL7SO-9B/?igsh=OTRyOTRnNGkyYjRq I dont expect it to be quite as ambitious as OG with as many robots.. but I hope its at least a respectable effort & that the effects they do choose to commit to.. that they'll be maintained. I do not expect but would love... capacity to return to what it originally was. Either way.. im most pumped that boo blasters isnt leaving without being replaced
  16. One thing for sure.. we cant be getting something in The Vortex, tomb raider, and the boo blaster locations the same year. And also.. whatever eventually comes.. I have a fear it will feel budget. (In some small way) Id hope we get the capacity of our original phantom theatre.. id love that IP to come back also but.. no matter what theme.. Please. Be. Good.
  17. Agree. Mr. Six wouldve been a much more exciting and effective character to appeal people.. heck.. I would volunteer to be Mr.Six! I need a reason to dance around again :p i think fun-sultant isnt the most interesting thing.. BUT that doesnt matter too much to me since Im going to the parks already anyways. ----------- I didnt see a specific thread for this.. but Queen City Coaster (there's no more stunting, Ive declared :p) ... having no sound, no visuals, and no fire is... as the kids say... kinda lame, dawg. If they dont want the original look, and somehow loved spending money they dont need to (which I know sometimes can happen).. id love for the walls to make it seem like you're inside the great american ballpark (without the great american brand)... and the fire... can come out of the smoke stack that the fireworks come from.. That or we arrive in skyline and the tunnel has the real skyline kitchen's smells pumped into the tunnel XD Or- or none of that.. thats fine too.. I guess.
  18. So I guess queen city coaster truly might not have fire return. Just watched the webcams and no fire. Im planning to go this weekend. Time will tell. Thanks for the shade structure photo!
  19. Agree 100%. Pedestals got a lot of attention.. but for me its simple. The current fountains arent girthy enough. Thicker, equally as tall fountains are really impressive looking, sounding, and feeling. The fountains are simply fine. But not great. Not worth it to change it now though
  20. More indoor anything honestly. More ways to escape the heat, the rain, the cold lol
  21. KI fans are hungry for more
  22. Man, Beastie was the best theme. Why anyone ever even considered doing that is wild. Cohesive IP kids area or not. Riding beastie made me excited to finally ride the big boy one. And it existed just fine alongside the mixture of hannah barbera while nickelodeon was also there. Beastie had the mystery inc van to see photos out of lol
  23. There WAS a very short period that Kings Island had 2 hyper coasters also (but we all knew that)
