  1. If I had to rate Phantom Theatre: Opening Nighmare, it gets a 10/10. For context, I never got to expereince the original Phantom Theatre. I did get to experience Scooby Doo and The Haunted Castle as well as Boo Blaster on Boo Hill. I will always have a fond opinion of Scooby Doo and The Haunted Castle because that was what I grew up with. And I did enjoy Boo Blasters on Boo Hill when all of the effects and targets and blasters still worked. After about 2015, Boo Blasters on Boo Hill really started to fall off. When it was announced that Boo Blasters on Boo Hill was closing and that Phantom Theatre: Opening Nightmare was replacing it, I was very excited. As Opening Day for this year got closer and closer and more looks at the rides developement were released, I wasn't only excited, I was also beginning to raise the bar in my mind for this ride. Before I got into line, I made something clear to myself so I could give it a proper and balanced judgement and I think everyone should look at it from this angle: This is a reimagination NOT a recreation. I have so far managed to grab 2 rides. One on Preview day and another on Opening day. I have to say that not only was I impressed, but my expectations were exceeded! Phantom Theatre: Opening Nightmare does so much right. It is a fantastic dark ride that has a fun story, detailed and well done scenes, and has a great interactive side that anyone can enjoy. You can really tell that a lot of effort was put into this ride. There are miniscuel issues but they are easily fixable and are extremely outweighted by the postitives of Phantom Theatre: Opening Nightmare. So Phantom Theatre: Opening Nightmare gets a 10/10 from me! Lastly, I would like to say that this is something KI has needed for YEARS. A refresh of the dark ride. I know a lot of us park fans and roller coaster enthusiats want to see new big coasters and rides come to KI. Believe me, I am in that same boat. But at the same time, the smaller additions KI has gotten over the last several years havent been that bad. I personally believe the strategy was to spruce up dead/ugly areas of KI and bring them to the same level as the rest of the park. The area where Adventure Port is now was boring and uninteresting before the additions of Cargo Loco and Sol Spin. That refresh brought new life to that area and it looks as good as the rest of the park. The addition of Camp Snoopy also did the same thing. That area beforehand was ugly and devoid of anything interesting and now its one of the more popular areas of KI. With Phantom Theatre: Opening Nightmare, not only did we get a much needed refresh of the dark ride, we got a top tier dark ride that is a smash hit. For me personally, Boo Blasters on Boo Hill ran its course around 2020. This refresh was long overdue and I am absouletly happy we got this. I have zero doubts that KI will recieve a new major coaster and/or thrill ride in the next few years. But these smaller additions have done more to boost and round out the lineup of KI more than I think people give them credit for.
  2. Love the concept! I would absolutely love to see this! Only issue is the terrain bunny hills going through Banshee's lockout as that would interfere with Banshee. Thread the end of the hills back in between Banshee and The Bat and have a turn around across the road there that goes into the brake run.
  3. I get why they considered Surf Dog a coaster for a long time. But I personally never considered it to be a coaster or a coaster credit.
  4. When I observed the crane at Monster, they were using it to remove the top piece off to work on the center part. That top piece has since been put back on and the crane has now moved over to Zephyr. I will say I've observed people working on Monster the last few days, so there is certainly effort going into getting it ready for the season. All of these observations coming from the webcam of course lol.
  5. From what I could catch on the webcams over the last hour, they've been testing both sides of Racer, putting trains back on Mystic, and working on Monster.
  6. I know its probably been discussed before, but I truly believe they should have concerts at Timberwolf again. Bring in acts (local and/or national) that draw crowds and give that space some use!
  7. I disagree with the notion of putting a water ride in The Vortex plot. KI already has 3 different water rides in the dry park with WWC nearby in Rivertown. I know for around 15 years or so WWC and Kenton's Cove coexisted, but KI doesn't need another water ride in the dry park. I truly believe The Vortex plot deserves a grand and photogenic coaster. I believe the ideal ride for The Vortex plot is a Ghostrider model from Vekoma. Its minimum height requirement is 48 inches which makes it very accommodating. It would also give KI a modern launch coaster. The layout can be customized to fit the uneven terrain of the plot that can easily include moments of airtime and inversions. If done well, it could be the stand out steel coaster of KI. Considering the recent track record of Vekoma projects here in the US, a Vekoma Ghostrider seems like a slam dunk in the making.
  8. 1. God I miss those lights. 2. No they were kept off during the off season.
  9. Diamondback stands out most to me. I remember little me watching the construction in the park and watching over and over again the promotional video on my grandparents computer. I'll also never forget the working scale model they had in the front gate.
  10. Absolutely. Would you agree that this is part of the reason Kings Island hasn't added a major thrill ride since?
  11. This might be a hot take, but hear me out. I would argue that a way to improve Orion is for Orion to not have been built by B&M. Many people agree that Fury 325 is the best coaster built by B&M. It's easy to compare Orion and Fury 325 for the most part because they're built by the same manufacturer. I would say that's why many people believed Orion was going to be another Fury 325 when it was announced. If another manufacturer was hired to build what would be "Orion" then boom. It would make it much harder to compare it to the other B&M Giga's (at least).
  12. Very much agree. Personally, I would say that the 5,300ft of track on Orion doesn't do a whole lot. Orion isn't a terrible ride. I enjoy it for what it is and it's a lot of fun. But a decent part of the reason I consider Diamondback, for example, to be much better than Orion is because Diamondback does more with its layout. Orion is 39ft longer than Diamondback. But Diamondback does more with 39ft less track than Orion (I know 39ft isn't that big of a difference, but still). Here is a question regarding the airtime aspect: Would adding more moments of airtime to the layout really make Orion better? The way I personally see it is that adding more moments of airtime to Orion would make it even more similar to Diamondback than it already is. Sure, adding more airtime to Orion would improve the ride experience, absolutely. But in that scenario Orion would just be Diamondback but with different trains and be just a little taller and faster. Furthermore, still on that scenario, what would even be the point of building Orion? Just to have a taller and faster version of Diamondback? At that point, Kings Island would be paying nearly double for Orion what they already have with Diamondback.
  13. I think WinterFest 2025 was great! As far as rides, pretty decent lineup. I had a rare opportunity to marathon FoF a few times on slow nights. Because of that, I've ridden FoF more times during this WinterFest than at any other point period. Racer being open is an absolute win. Some of my best rides on Racer have been taken during WinterFest. And it runs amazing! Mystic Timbers is always a blast. I absolutely love our train, but going with what @SonofBaconator said, they really either need to retheme the experience or add , like, a lot more lights. As far as food, I was able to get quite a bit of the seasonal meals. Per the advise of @DonHelbig, I was finally able to try the much acclaimed Holiday Meatloaf Burger. And it really did live up to the hype! The Meatloaf Burger is a top 10 food item at Kings Island. I also tried the Honey Ham & Cheese fries from Potato Works and they were pretty good. The Mac & Cheese bar at Enrique's is always awesome and hope it sticks around. As far as lights, the park looked amazing as it always does! Kudos to everyone involved with setting up all the lights and decorations. On the subject of the Holly Jolly Trolly, good riddance! Yes it was something to do. But on busy nights it would crazy walking through Coney Mall and trying to avoid the path of the trolly. Overall, WinterFest was great and I can't wait for April!
  14. The Panda Express at Cedar Point is worse. Last time I ate there (2024), I got like one scoop of orange chicken and three scoops of rice. Like, I think I have enough rice to go with my chicken lol. As far as the Panda Express at Kings Island, its not terrible. The portion size and ratios are decent. But like you said, Kings Island has much better options.
  15. Are we just gonna forget Racers lift hill echoing throughout Coney Mall?
