westcoaster
Yummers, and shopping bags, neat little artlicle. I feel this is a win win , coaster, shopping eating, staying at that resort destination. http://www.kentucky.com/2013/06/22/2688283/amusement-parks-see-dollar-signs.html
The Interpreter
There's a lesson for seasonal parks in there, too. It is not now (not that it ever was) just "people gotta eat." Pink's is a start. So, for that matter, was Coasters. Both were less than is possible, and both at Cedar Point. Anybody else notice the greatly reduced emphasis on Johnny Rockets, not just at Six Flags, but apparently also at Cedar Point? Notice that at FUN, the concept didn't spread much (I still think it cannibalized Coasters) and at SIX it has declined markedly, with some locations closed. As for merchandise, perhaps I'm just getting old, but it seems to me both the variety and the quality of most park merchandise (in both shops AND games) has declined markedly in recent years. Very little compelling. It is almost as if Ron Johnson gutted the buyers.
TTD-120-420
As far as merchandise goes, I think we are about to see a dramatic shift in the quality of the products. Gatekeeper's store was full of Nike DriFit polos and T-shirts and The North Face jackets. These items were the first things I've ever actually thought about buying in an amusement park store. They weren't ugly and low quality like everything else.
medford
By the sounds of it, the Reds HOF Grill was another nice step in the right direction. I'm still hoping, long term that this leads to a new entrance with an international street restaurant that is open to the general public like the old days. On another thought, I know KI generally tends to stay to Cincy area restaurants for their tie ins, but I wonder if they would consier Schmidts out of columbus for the festhaus. I suppose general taste selections of the general public would dictate that pizza still be served in there, but Schmidts does a wonderful buffet and cream puffs that are very satisfying. It would be nice to have quality german food back in the festhaus.
shark6495
Well, I think its also fair to say that in the article they mention food that is of higher quality. Higher quality food means people want to eat. I remember my trip and ate at Mythos. Wonderful themeing and great food. I feel the 90s and early 2000s people felt that people would buy anything. Now they are noticing people will spend more money on higher quality materials...

Shall it be named International Restaurant??
